The more the better.
At the very least have one that doesn't have a filter on it. If you are worried that people won't cuddle you based on your looks, then those are the people you don't want to be cuddling with.

Make Friends

Read the forums and get familiar with the regulars. Read everything you can to get a feel for the community.
Read everyone's profile to see how other people filled theirs out to give you a better idea of how to expand on yours.
Message people even if they aren't local to get used to the message system and make new friends.
If you are new, it can be understood why you have no karma or friends. But if you have been here 2 years and still no friends in your list, that seems suspicious to a lot of people.

Search for Cuddlers

Search for and read profiles of locals near you.
If something catches your eye or you share common interests, send them a message.
Don't message just one. Message several at a time. The response times will vary and may take a whole day or more to receive a reply, if ever.
