I'm not sure since I'm going to someone else's house. But I'm pretty sure it will be turkey, stuffing and probaby candied sweet potatoes. As for dessert, there will be pumpkin and/or apple pie. I am bring my own mixed-berry pie. For drinks I am bringing Martinelli's sparkling Apple and Mango or Apple and Grape.
Im going to a friends as well and will have prob about the same. I do it all for the apple pie!
Diet Mountain Dew and Spicy Nacho Doritos.
Chuckle @hogboblin.
Going to a potluck. Bringing the mashed potatoes. If they don't have gravy, I'm leaving.
Yes. More food threads please.
On my table we'd have turkey and stuffing served with cranberry, pickles, pickled beets, olives and onions. Hot, buttered homemade buns. Mashed potatoes and steamed carrots. Broccoli, cauliflower and water chestnuts with a homemade cheese sauce served in phyllo cups. "Marinated Salad" which is a mixture of canned mushrooms, baby corns, pimentos, raw red capsicum, raw broccoli and raw cauliflower tossed in Italian dressing and left to sit overnight. There are two other salads my family typically served growing up that I don't like very much, so I omit them. One is sliced onions mixed with mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar and sugar, then sprinkled with celery seed. Ick. The other is "24 Hour Salad" made with spinach, hard eggs, bacon, mozza, and a homemade poppy seed dressing. Just never cared for it. While all this stuff is being made in the afternoon, my family would have either fondue or crab dip as an appetizer, which is my favourite during both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Always pumpkin pie with ice cream and mincemeat tarts for dessert. I almost forgot my mother's best friend's grandmother's acini salad, which is a lot like an ambrosia, but it's lighter and uses acini pasta. My husband requests this for dinner sometimes all year round and it's a pain to make. ~_~
Basically our table is a (welcomed) heart attack. This year I kept it simple and enjoyed a good ol' rotisserie chicken with some pita, toum, hummus and veggies. I certainly gobble gobbled the cluck cluck. I'd kind of like to try a turducken one of these years though if I can ever muster the strength and have the time to make a full TG dinner.
Canada's thanksgiving was back in October, but here's to hoping everybody down south has a good one.
I am stuffing a turkey with 420 so an after dinner hunger pang will ensure there will be no leftovers.
@FunCartel chuckle. Plus, if one's family tends toward the argumentative, everyone will be too happy and unable to string their thoughts together to care.
