OK hear me out.....

theres a cuddle party happening in orlando! and i feel lots of other states are going ham with the cuddle craze! soooooo
to boost it down here! im thinking of hosting a cuddle party down here in california!! :D

im running ideas threw my head figuring where to host it and if i did who would come! but i think it be a great oppurtunity for more people to get out there and be discovered ! given a chance !

idk .. its an idea let me know what yall think :)

    Are you talking about inviting friends or putting it out to the general public? In a public space or a private space?

    Start thinking about guidelines. My friends who used to have cuddle parties had a brief mandatory introduction for new people about what the rules were. It was friendly and nice, not at all oppressive, just laying out some boundaries, like making sure you get consent, what was okay, what wasn't, letting people know that it was okay to say no and not to get offended if someone did, etc.

    We would construct a "cuddle pit" by tying a bunch of air mattresses together with . . . I forget what you call them, straps with ratchets on them to keep them from sliding apart. Throw a bunch of blankets, comforters, pillows on them. In our situation, lots of the people knew each other so that made a difference, made people feel safe. A lot of these folks are pretty at ease with this kind of activity, too. They are burners, folks like that.

    Usually we'd do something like watch a movie or Cosmos when it was running. Or sometimes just have music with some pleasant screen saver. Some snacks and drinks in the other room but not much in the way of alcohol, there may have been some.

    Dude, dude, dude. Have an all straight guys cuddle party. That way nobody has to worry about anybody doing anything even slightly nonplatonic, 'cause nobody there'll be even the tiniest bit tempted!

    Man, if I were a straight guy I'd go to that.

    My first thought when anyone mentions 'cuddle party' is if I go, no-one is going to want to cuddle with me. All parties I've ever gone to have been negative experiences. I always feel like the odd person out, always leave disappointed and swear I'll never go to one again. I guess I'm just not a party person. So cuddle parties would not be for me. I always relate to people best in a one-to-one situation.

    @DarrenWalker something in that equation gives me an error. A bunch of straight guys coming to cuddle with each other and keeping it straight only so no one get inappropriate.

    @CreativeCuddles: Heh. Blame @smoothest for giving me the picture of a bunch of straight guys going to a cuddle party looking to cuddle only with folks they find sexually attractive. "Make sure there aren't a bunch of guys and no ladies!" Geez louise, what is this, a buffet? You can't cuddle somebody unless they're on the menu side of things?

    We're all on the menu side of things, and we're all on the customer side of things (because there is no menu or customer side, just a bunch of people looking to cuddle with other people). This is how equality works.

    Anyway, it's supposed to be platonic—why not cut out all possibility of anything non? Seems like a good set of training wheels.

    Given 20m where m = "straight male," sexual attraction ("x") in cuddle party A is 0: i.e., cuddle party A is completely platonic. Add 2w where w = "straight female," and a whole lot of sexual attraction becomes potential.

    A + 20m (x) + 2w (x) = ?

    Worst-case scenario: A + 20m (2x) + 2w (20x) = 80x

    We want:
    A (x) = 0x

    To ensure that this is the case, don't put in any factors such that x (sexual attraction) becomes greater than 0.

    One might argue that what we want is a cuddle party A such that sexual behavior doesn't occur—but the easiest way of getting that result is eliminating the attraction that motivates the behavior, kind of like taking the batteries out of a toy to be sure it doesn't turn on.
