Bay Area info?

Aloha everyone!

After being stranded in paradise since March, I am finally able to travel back to the mainland and will be in the Bay from October 14-19. t will be my first fall trip and I don’t know what to expect, especially since we don’t have seasons in Hawaii

For people who live in the Bay: what’s the weather going to be like? What outdoor activities are best right now? Recommendations for restaurants around Santa Clara/San Jose are also welcome!

I also really want to know what the current climate is around COVID - it’s virtually absent here on Maui now so things are really relaxed. I don’t have the slightest idea what to expect and am hearing mixed messages. Please give me your perspectives!

I lived there November to June. Masks on almost everyone, including outside. Lines outside of many grocery stores. Not sure how it is now. Weather depends on where you are (San Jose hotter than Sausalito or SF) but pretty consistently sunny and temperate. Google the city and 10 day weather. Have fun!

There's been quite a bit of forest fires so, depending on where you at, maybe smoke in the air. Otherwise, it's gonna be super hot for this week and then I heard it'll cool down again next week. As for outdoor activities...probably hiking.

You are hearing mixed messages because some people are very COVID conscience and wear masks in the shower, while others believe it is overblown and a conspiracy. The majority live somewhere in between.

As for weather, the Bay Area can go from triple digits one day to the 60s the next. My advice? Layers.

The bay area I hear has some amazing food options, I only visit from Portland from time to time, so hopefully a local here can give you the layout. 😂😂😂

You will have no shortage of great places to eat in that area, but right now it's only dining outdoors and take out. By the time you are here, that MIGHT loosen up a bit.

@RamanAngel why leave Maui?

If you are use to normal without COVID then it’s going to be a rude adjustment. Parks and beaches are open. Restaurants are take out or out door seating if available. Indoor entertainment closed except for some gyms. Grocery and big chain grocery stores are open. Smaller business are struggling and it does not matter what kind.

@lovelyhugs - Movie theaters are open with reduced capacity. At least they are here.
