This one just got me!! Nothing Stays the Same ~ by Luke Sital-Singh
I can taste it in my mouth I am hanging upside down All the faces gathered round To wait and see, to breath relief To call my name for the first time
Cry your eyes out Fill your lungs up We all hurt We all lie And nothing stays the same Oh, oh, oh dear life Oh, oh, oh I can face it just about I'd rather hurt than live without But I will rage and scream and shout A love, a life, it's dark and bright It's beautiful and it's alright
To cry your eyes out Fill your lungs up We all hurt We all lie And nothing stays the same
Let your guard down Get your heart pounded We all bleed We all breathe And nothing stays the same We hold out For someday And nothing stays the same
Oh, oh, oh
We all believe in something that'll rip us into shreds We all know why it stings to open up your chest We all show signs of greatness that we hope that someone sees Our broken teeth are scattered but we're smiling underneath A thousand bruising muscles still we're running on and on We all know names that ring like thunder rattling our walls Everyone is yearning for a reason for a cause Somewhere deep inside we're hold on for dear life
Oh, oh, oh dear life Oh, oh, oh dear life Oh, oh, oh dear life Oh, oh, oh
Cry your eyes out Fill your lungs up We all hurt We all lie And nothing stays the same
Let your guard down Get your heart pounded We all bleed We all breathe And nothing stays the same (Yeah) we all hurt We all learned That nothing stays the same
TL:DR
@quixotic_life My perimenopausal self cries at least once every single day thanks to hormones. Box checked for today! Lol Thanks for posting that. It was very moving.
Stranger in a Strange Land, by Leon Russell
“How many days has it been Since I was born How many days until I die”
This inspired me to look up my statical life expectancy and start a countdown clock…
I went to a songwriters night last night; a fund raiser for mental health services were I live. We had five songwriters performing and I welled up and teared from the majority of the songs. In particular, this song by Jay Knowles. If you have not heard of him, look him up. He is a prolific writer and many of his songs have been sung by others. Link below is of Jay singing his song.
(I Do) Like We Do
People stay together forever In the light of a meaning, too But no one does, 'I do' like we do Fireworks fade and the fireflies Once the honeymoon's through They don't do 'I do' like we do
Nobody got a you like me Nobody got this history Of the good times, and the hard times And the wild times we've been through Nobody got a me like you And I ain't much but this much is true No one does 'I do' like we do
I tried to keep you guessing And you still got me confused No one does 'I do' like we do Everybody turns out the light When the day is through No one does 'I do' like we do
I ain't knocking what the others got Cause they a good thing, too But they don't do 'I do' like we do Rambling down this same old road We'll find our 'something new' And no one does 'I do' like we do, yeah
Stay, by Alison Moyet
I wait in hope of every day Changes come as changes may With every fear that I allay
I have a horror of this place Yet I'm accustomed to it's face And I am safe within it's maze
But you leave me nothin' In my hometown And now you want to pull us down
But I can hope And I can pray And I will stay
I traced my way from Bluebell Hill To the park and further still Onto the rise beyond the mounds
And from this point I could see My life in it's entirety Mapped before me on the ground
But you leave me nothing In my hometown And now you want to pull us down
Let the cold air bite my face For I am angry at this place Wherein nothing stays the same
It breaks my heart to let you go When deep inside us we both know That you will not be back again
Converge - Last Light
I need you to be the strength of widows and soul survivors I need you to be as fearless as new mothers and new fathers I need you to be the hope of hearts who lost true love I need you to be the might of their first kiss I need a purpose and I need a reason I need to know that there is trophy and meaning to all that we lose and all we fight for to all our loves and our wars keep breathing keep living keep searching keep pushing on keep bleeding keep healing keep fading keep shining on this is for the hearts still beating
"Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die" ~ Converge
from their 'Last Light' video which was absolutely heatbreaking to watch.
"Lookin' for love in too many faces Searchin' their eyes Lookin' for traces of what I'm dreaming of." I saw that look in the eyes of the most wonderful girl I've ever met and I blew it bad. I can't listen to that song. It kills me.
Little Heaven by Toad the Wet Sprocket
Opened my eyes The fire had come Not for the end of days Not for the faithless ones Not for vision understood Burns because it has to burn Change'll happen whether we Are still or moving
Breathe in waves of doubt Bitter in your mouth You will exhale cinnamon clouds
When it is quiet and still I can feel older here Change what I can and pray The hope will not disappear
When we are not denying anything Nothing is an enemy Delicately balancing The perfect world
Ride these waves of doubt Bitter in your mouth You will exhale cinnamon clouds Little heaven Riding waves of doubt Turns me inside out I will exhale primal shout Little heaven
I understand The fire will come Not for the strength of will Or passion of anyone I understand The fire will come Not for the end of days Not for the faithless ones
‘I Was Wrong’ by Social Distortion
And I think about my loves, well I've had a few I'm sorry that I hurt them, did I hurt you too? Well, I took what I wanted, put my heart on the shelf But how can you love when you don't love yourself? It was me against the world, I was sure that I'd win The world fought back, punished me for my sins And they tried to warn me of my evil ways But I couldn't hear what they had to say I was wrong
"The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert, written by Tom Douglas & Allen Shamblin
"I know they say you can't go home again I just had to come back one last time Ma'am, I know you don't know me from Adam But these hand prints on the front steps are mine
Up those stairs in that little back bedroom Is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar And I bet you didn't know under that live oak My favourite dog is buried in the yard
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it This brokenness inside me might start healing Out here, it's like I'm someone else I thought that maybe I could find myself If I could just come in, I swear I'll leave Won't take nothin' but a memory From the house that built me
Momma cut out pictures of houses for years From better homes and garden magazine Plans were drawn and concrete poured Nail by nail and board by board Daddy gave life to momma's dream
You leave home, you move on And you do the best you can I got lost in this whole world And forgot who I am
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it This brokenness inside me might start healing Out here, it's like I'm someone else I thought that maybe I could find myself If I could walk around, I swear I'll leave Won't take nothin' but a memory From the house that built me"

I think I’m going bald by Rush
I looked in the mirror today My eyes just didn't seem so bright I've lost a few more hairs I think I'm, I'm going bald I think I'm going bald Ooh, it seems like only yesterday We would sit and talk of dreams all night Dreams of youth, and simple truths Now we're all, so involved So involved with life I walk down vanity fair Memory lane everywhere Wall Street shuffles there Dressed in flowing hair Go wild! Once we loved the flowers Now we ask the price of the land Once we would take water But now it must be wine Now we've been And now we've seen What price peace of mind Take a piece of my mind My life is slipping away I'm aging every day But even when I'm grey I'll still be grey my way
So many I love from Zach Bryan but this one gets me every time. ♥️
Dawns.
Wake me up, when the season's gone 'Cause, I've wasted all my dawns, on you So, what do I do Oh, what I do I get fucked up, just 'cause I'm scared Love's just another drug, I have grown a victim to So, what do I do Oh, what do I do All is fair, in love and war So, what the hell are we even fightin' for I'm on your front porch, beggin' for my dawns, back Give my God damn records, and my clothes, back 'Cause, I'm through Oh, how I'm through And, by the time she wakes I'll be halfway, to my mama's home It just dawned on me Life is as fleeting, as the passin' dawn And, it was my mistake 'Cause, she never said a thing, about Jesus I miss my mother's southern drawl And, her prayin', through the walls, in the evenin Give me my dawns, back Everything that dies, makes it's way, back I lost her, last July, in a heart attack I need one small victory, mmm Give me my dawns, back 'Cause, everything that dies, makes it's way, on back I lost her, last July, in a heart attack I need one, small victory Wake me up, when the season's gone 'Cause, I've wasted all my dawns, on you So, what do I do Oh, what I do And, by the time he wakes I'll be halfway, to my best friend's home It just dawned on me Life is as fleeting, as the passin' dawn And, I shoulda told him twice I believe in something bigger, than both of us I miss goin' out to bars, shootin' stars Not worryin', 'bout what's left of us, mmm Give me my dawns, back Everything that dies, makes it's way, on back I lost her, last July, in a heart attack I need one small victory, mmm Give me my dawns, back Everything that dies, makes it's way, on back I lost her, last July, in a heart attack I need one small victory Ooh Ooh, ooh I got fucked up, just 'cause I'm scared Love's just another drug, I have grown a victim to What do I do Oh, what do I do
"We're so close but I just can't Ruin everything I ever planned. I've got no room for guilt this year. I'm trying hard to keep my conscience clear, And it's clear
But he knows just what he wants today. And I could just let it happen, yeah. The more I think the worse I guess. The more I guess the worse I am."

Faster By The Manic Street Preachers
I hate purity, Hate goodness, I don't want virtue to exist anywhere, I want everyone corrupt
I am an architect, They call me a butcher, I am a pioneer, They call me primitive, I am purity, They call me perverted, Holding you but I only miss these things when they leave,
I am idiot drug hive, The virgin, the tattered and the torn, Life is for the cold made warm and they are just lizards, Self disgust is self-obsession honey and I do as I please, A morality obedient only to be cleansed repented,
I am stronger than Mensa, Miller and Mailer, I spat out Plath and Pinter, I am all the things that you regret, A truth that washes that learnt how to spell,
The first time you see yourself naked you cry, Soft skin now acne, Foul breath so broken, He loves me truly this mute solitude I'm draining, I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing,
Sleep cannot hide thoughts splitting through my mind, Shadows aren't clean, false mirrors too many people awake, If you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down, I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else.
So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything, So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything, So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything, So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything
Sorted for E's & Wizz By Pulp
Oh, is this the way they say the future's meant to feel? Or just twenty thousand people standing in a field? And I don't quite understand just what this feeling is But that's okay 'cause we're all sorted out for E's and wizz And tell me when the spaceship lands 'cause all this has just got to mean something-ing
Oh, in the middle of the night It feels alright, but then tomorrow morning Oh, oh, then you come down, oh
Oh yeah, the pirate radio told us what was going down Got the tickets from some fucked up bloke in Camden Town Oh, and no-one seems to know exactly where it is But that's okay 'cause we're all sorted out for E's and wizz At four o'clock the normal world seems very, very, very far away
All right In the middle of the night It feels alright, but then tomorrow morning Oh, oh, then you come down, oh
Just keep on moving Everybody asks your name, they say we're all the same and now it's "Nice one, " "geezer" But that's as far as the conversation went I lost my friends, I dance alone It's six o'clock, I want to go home But it's "no way, " "not today" Makes you wonder what it meant And this hollow feeling grows and grows and grows and grows And you want to call your mother And say "mother, I can never come home again 'Cause I seem to have left an important part of my brain somewhere Somewhere in a field in Hampshire, all right"
In the middle of the night It feels alright, but then tomorrow morning Oh, oh, then you come down Oh, oh, then you come down Oh, what if you never come down?
I'm Not An Idiot I'm Not An Idiot I'm Not a Fucking Stooge So Stop Talking To Me About Guns & Bombs and Stop Trying to Sell Me On Class Welfare - I'm Really Not Braindead and I'm Not An End table and I'm Really, Really Quite Sure That You Do Not Mean Business, That You're Just One of Many Stupid Shouting Voices Who Wants to Play Fight the Pigs and Talk Drunk About Bombing Gas Stations Until You Have to Go Work in One That Is, Friend, I'm Not An Idiot So Please, Please, Please Stop Talking to Me About the First Amendment Because You're Never Going to Get On Tv So Anybody Can Hear You, and Even If You Did Get On Tv You Still Wouldn't Know What the Fuck to Say, and Even If You Did Get On Tv and You Did Have Something Exciting to Say They Still Wouldn't Air You Because You'd Be Wearing Your Extra Large "Fuck Censorship" T-shirt and a Long, Long, Long Time Ago, Long Before You Were Evn Born, the Government Got Together With the Radio and Tv Stations to Make Sure That Those Kinds of Words Would Never in a Million Years Be Broadcast, So For God's Sake Just Stop Talking.
This song depicts a conversation from my life: Capsize Emily Warren and Frenship
Hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah (Repeated) Up at night I'm awake cause it haunts me That I never got to say what I wanted Oh my God, oh my God I’m not the same as I was with you I would jump out my skin just to get you Oh my God, oh my God
How could you have ever known If I never let it show, now I just wanna know are you?
I'm fine Drop tears in the morning Give in to the lonely Here it comes with no warning Capsize, I'm first in the water Too close to the bottom I'm right back where I started Said I'm fine.
Your silhouette is burned in my memory Rubble left from the moment that you left me Oh my God, oh my God And three words have never come easy Cause you're more than they ever could be Oh my God, oh my God
I'm swimming up against the tide Oh my god I'm swimming but I'm getting tired Oh my god (Repeated)
Drink up baby, stay up all night With the things you could do You won't but you might The potential you'll be That you'll never see The promises you'll only make Drink up with me now And forget all about The pressure of days Do what I say And I'll make you okay And drive them away The images stuck in your head
People you've been before That you don't want around anymore That push and shove and won't bend to your will I'll keep them still
Drink up baby, look at the stars I'll kiss you again Between the bars Where I'm seeing you there With your hands in the air Waiting to finally be caught Drink up one more time And I'll make you mine Keep you apart Deep in my heart Separate from the rest Where I like you the best And keep the things you forgot
Between the Bars - Elliott Smith
