SOLUTIONS TO TOUCH DEPRIVATIONS

SOLUTIONS

There are no instruction books to live in this body nor how to truly take care of it. What do we do when we feel alone? How do we know if what were eating is the right for us? How do I give love to others and not feel so selfish giving love to ones self? What about how do I give love to myself if I can't give or get love from others during these times? Well my cuddling friends, I'll give you some tips.

Learning about yourself is one of the best investments you can make in this life. One of the best ways to invest in yourself is to pay attention (self-awareness) to your actions and feelings inside you. By doing this you are showing care to your body and you are letting your body know that you are paying attention so that it no longer needs to feel like it's on its own. So lets find ways to bring that self-awareness by recognizing if you had or have experienced touch deprivation.

Have you:

  • Been feeling depressed
  • Feeling anxiety
  • Feeling stressed
  • Having low relationship connections (whether with self, friends, family, others)
  • Having a difficult time to sleep

These are some of the many symptoms you can have when touch deprived. Lets not rule out the fact that these can be the cause by other things happening in your life and not necessarily the lack of skin starvation. What I've given is reference points (tools) for you to have the self-awareness for you to learn more about yourself and your needs.
With that being said here are some solutions to help you in case you are unable to get the cuddles in your life.

  • Hug Trees: You can call me crazy all you want people come and go but when you hug a tree, science has proven that it can neutralize your energy. Don't believe me, try it yourself. The next time you feel negative or positive emotions, I dare you to hug a tree for 20 secs+ and see how you feel while and after you do it. You can get your human quota by hugging 12 Trees a day and watch your life transform.
  • Treat Yourself: Once a month treat yourself don't be cheap to yourself by not doing it. Treat yourself can look anything like Manicure+Pedicure, Massage, Candle Hot Baths (take leaves from outside, let them dry and they can be like peddles.), or even just a visit to the hair salon. At the end of the day you are getting some kind of touch to help your body feel good. Besides, you made it to live another month. Not every did so you might as well treat yourself and learn what it feels like to be good to yourself at least once a month.
  • DANCE DANCE DANCE: Dancing is a great way for your body to feel expression and to feel love. It is very healthy for the heart.
  • Learn a new instrument: Learning a new instrument helps you to connect to the instrument and your self. I love the hand drums because I love feeling the vibrations in my hands after.
  • Spend QUALITY time with pets: Make a moment with your pet that would be very special between you and your animal. If you don't know then now is the best time to know your animals likes, dislikes, and Loves.
  • Paint, Draw, Colour: When I do this I feel such a deep and powerful connection to myself that I love. Just make sure you pick and set a time if you feel like your not much of an artist, like myself, and stick to it. It may be daunting at first but it can be very rewarding after.

You are not alone and I recommend that you try some if not all of these out. Building a relationship with yourself is the most important thing you can do right now. Besides when it's time to have a cuddling partner you can share, if you trust them, all of your personal experiences with them and relate to their ship ;)

Happy Cuddling,

SkyE

  • If I went around hugging trees, people will think there is something wrong with me.

  • @Mike403 ~ Probably only if you wrapped your leg around it and started whispering sweet nothings 😉 but even then... who cares!

    🌲🌳🌴💓🤗

  • @Mike403 Pretty sure anything anyone does these days can be perceived as a weird by someone. But it’s true though, I drive up to Flagstaff in Arizona for road trips and hugging trees really does center and ground my energy. Something about how old they are and how much more they have left to go is a magical thing for me 🥰 they are like colossal guardians for the life they selfishly shelter below them lol

Also, I agree that dancing is a wonderful thing! It’s exercise and self expression, even if you aren’t the best dancer. Pop in your earphones in a room alone and play your favorite songs; you’ll have a great time. I do that every night since I work from home for now but it’s my one constant fun and active thing 🤣

  • People come and go @Mike403 don't let what they might think of you in the moment ruin your moment with mother nature. I remember I use to be afraid to hug trees in public but I did it enough times in private to the point were I didn't care if people looked and lone behold it makes people smile, it gets them to question and to wonder and on top of all of that, every tree is connected to the world. So by hugging one tree you are hugging all trees ;)

  • My ex-girlfriend (who still wants cuddles, but can't for pandemic reasons) sent me a picture of her hugging a tree, in what was the sweetest I-miss-you message I've ever received.

@quixotic_life always with the amazing picture quotes!!! I love this more than I can express with words. Thank you for sharing with us :)

@Allerdale with the facts on facts! Everyone is doing whatever foreal these days, especially with them pranks. So not cool :-1: Colossal Guardians is a new term to me but I will start seeing them and naming them as such. Thank you for the heads up ;) :+1:

That's beautiful to hear that you and your ex are still on good terms @mtp I'm glad this post can confirm for you to do the same

  • During outdoor school (part of a Pacific Northwest kiddo's 6th grade experience) they took us all out on a "silent" night hike out in the woods (it was quiet but we were hardly silent)...
After a bit the camp counselors told us to befriend a tree. Then they unexpectedly turned off their bright light and called out to us to hug our new friend and remain calm. They pretended to be fussing with it, and kept calling out to us reassuringly. But other than that is was so quiet and still.
I remember being a little disappointed when the lantern "started working" again because I just wanted a couple more minutes with my sweet tree...

  • you should treat yourself often! it doesn't need to be pricey, as doing what you love can count.

  • @quixotic_life I think outdoor school was one of the most fun times in school. I was surprised not too long ago to learn outdoor school is not a standard thing across the country.

  • I know... It's changed a bit since we went through but it's still an incredible program & experience!

  • Some good ideas. I'll try them out. Thanks :)
