Covid and cuddling

Are you guys still getting together? If so how are you protecting each other? Are you only meeting with established people with communication about who they are coming into contact with? Personally I am not meeting with anyone. My work life keeps me exposed so it's not responsible of me to endanger others. It's a pretty lonely existence though.

  • It's very personal, and of course in some jurisdictions meeting up is prohibited. Aside from the legality questions, it's obviously madness to meet if you have symptoms or are supposed to be self-isolating.

In the UK cuddling was permitted up until 5 November (and again from 2 December, assuming lockdown isn't extended) but with mitigation in place. In practice this meant hand sanitiser at the start of the session, and both parties wearing masks throughout. The masks were a nuisance obviously, but it I found they did not significantly detract from the experience.

If your work keeps you exposed then you're quite right, you can't cuddle. Thank you for doing the right thing. It is tough though.

I can recommend virtual cuddling with the right practitioner. I had an online session with a pro I know well, and - to my surprise - it was a great success.

  • @CuddleDuncan Can you please tell me what virtual cuddling consists of?

  • I've returned to cuddling with both parties wearing masks while also requesting a recent COVID test. Virtual sessions are also a good option in theory, but I find that folks who request those often try to turn it into a sexual experience. 😒

@gitrdy2snuggle I've only had one virtual cuddle session. I've always thought it would not be for me, but I was wrong. (I am an experienced physical cuddling client.)

It was with Nordic Cuddle which is by far the best cuddling agency in the UK and which I hold in the very highest regard. If you are considering a virtual (or physical) cuddle session, I recommend them unreservedly. Half an hour, £25, with a practitioner I know very well. (Message me, I just don't want to compromise her privacy by posting here without her permission.)

I wasn't quite sure what would happen. I knew it would be easy, because we know each other and we get along. We could easily chat for half an hour .... except we wouldn't, because she would regard that as a boundary infringement.

What we did was various self-massage (head and neck) and breathing exercises together. At her suggestion I shut my eyes and pressed my palm with my other thumb as if she was doing it. (It's a thing she does.) The part I found best was hugging myself while she did the same, and then gently swaying together as if we were actually hugging. The swaying together was my idea and didn't work all that well due to the time delay, but still ....

Overall it was a surprisingly beneficial experience. It worked, it really did.

Having said all that, there are professionals on here who offer the service, and can tell you much more about it than I can.

  • Thank you for the detailed description, @CuddleDuncan. And thank you for asking, @gitrdy2snuggle. (And thank you for thanking them, @misternatureboy.)

  • @CuddleDuncan Thank you so much for taking the time to explain! Much appreciated. 😊

So thankful to @cuddleineverett for starting this thread.

I envy the virtual cuddlers, who can be sustained until the situation improves. But for me the physical presence is everything. Sharing a single space.

Regarding the masks, on the outside world I participate 100%. But for this one moment, I want to read a complete facial expression, and feel the occasional breath on my face. That’s just me. I’m not recommending to anyone else. Or even to myself.

  • I've met with the same someone, twice now, who has precautions in place that mirror mine. I figure, if they're doing the same, and don't have symptoms, and were even tested prior to our meeting, and both of us are willing to take the risk associated with our meeting because the benefits feel greater ~ then why not?

@bekah_cuddles, I'm sorry that happened to you.

I like doing virtual cuddles. It helps me meet interesting people from new York to Florida to Oregon. Traveling isn't recommended right now. It helps me not feel alone at times. I love talking about food, different interests that we have, and how dealing with everything.

I'm fortunate in that my cuddle buddy and I are essentially isolating together. (Apparently "night clerk at gas station" is an essential position, so we're not isolated in the strictest sense—but still.) Since we're both exposed to the same stuff at the same times and in the same places... no reason not to cuddle.

It's excellent. 10/10, absolutely worth moving across the country for. Especially since he's got video games and movies and a big TV at his place. 👍🏻

  • I wear a mask and gloves to be safe and I ask my cuddle buddy to wear one if they're comfortable with it

  • I would cuddle with masks and hand washing. As long as no other risks or symptoms were present.

TBH "virtual cuddles" seem to be a waste of money, for me-my own opinion so if you disagree with me, keep it to your self.
And yes, I am meeting and cuddling whenever I'm not working or come across an interesting profile. Here in CA we have lawmakers telling us all these BS rules and regulations, yet they travel to hawaii for a special meeting LOL
I'd say go with your instinct, if you want to cuddle and meet someone - have a conversation with that person and that's it.
