This is a boring and anticlimactic answer. But as a biologist I would say the meaning of life is to have children that can also have children. Its a biological term called, "fitness."

I think the meaning of life is to serve the Creator God and bring glory to him through the things we do. I think God might be quite pleased when he watches an episode of America's got talent and there sees some of the best of humankind, rather than on the news where you mostly see the worst of humankind. If we are nothing but highly evolved pond scum then our lives have no real meaning or purpose. Doing "good" or doing "evil" would be meaningless concepts then too.
@Comfy_Arms: Well, they wouldn't be meaningless to us. To the universe at large and everything else in it, yes. But not to us.
@BluShadeCool I'm not sure if that's a meaning/purpose of life, or more of a biological desire (for many people, anyway). As far as a purpose or meaning, I'd think there would be more to it than just to perpetuate your own species. Why are we here in the first place?
@Mike403 I should probably watch Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey again. I haven't seen it since it was in the theater.

@FlyingToaster: Same reason anything in the universe is here, I'd think. Why do rocks exist? Why are black holes a thing? How come there are giant flaming balls of gas floating around? Why germs? Why dolphins? Why dogs? Why do intestinal parasites exist?
It's the universe, man. You get a physical universe and stuff just sort of... happens. Not a lot of stasis. Humans are here for the same reason everything else is, I reckon: we happened to happen.
Anyway, you probably shouldn't derive a thing's purpose from its cause. I mean, I exist because a condom leaked. So that makes the purpose of my life what: inventing better condoms? Poking holes in them? Nah, no thanks. I'd rather read books and write music and collect bladed weapons.
Why are we here? Because we're here.
