The best gift I’ve ever received has always been from mom ❤️ the best gift I’ve ever given has always been when someone mentions in casual conversation something that they really like .... it could be anything from a bit pricey to the simplest thing ever, but the fact that they had zero idea I paid any attention & got it for them, & seeing their smile & eyes light up had always been the best gift I’ve ever given (I know not too specific lol) what’s yours ?

    My sister.

    My mom got her tubes tied but ended up still getting pregnant. My sister was born December 23. The doctors spent a good amount of time trying to wake her to make her cry and finally she started crying. She’s considered a miracle baby because she shouldn’t have happened but I’m glad she was born because she’s my absolute best friend. Best Xmas gift ever 💖💖💖

    Many years ago very dear friend, in the middle of a complexity of complications and normal life mini-disasters, was about to find herself lonely and miserable with Christmas cancelled. She came to my parents' house, to say hallo and goodbye as I was about to leave.

    • I've got a wee present for you in the car, says I.
    • Bastard, says she, you know I haven't got you anything.

    In the car I had for her a real Christmas tree, stand, lights, full set of decorations ... I'd even wrapped a tin of biscuits to go underneath it. She kinda screamed and then wept.

    So, the best Christmas present I ever gave was .... a Christmas tree.

    The best present I received was ..... well actually I might start a thread about that.

    The best gifts I've ever given were paintings I painted myself. Hopefully, they are still hanging on someone's wall somewhere, but somehow I doubt it. One was given to a girlfriend who ended up marrying someone else, and the other was given to a married couple who are no longer with us.

    1971–I was released from the military hospital after being in the pediatric ICU for 2 1/2 months. It was ward style with ten of us in a room. Four other people passed away while I was in there. One kid was in a tent where no one could touch him skin-to-skin. I was across from him attached to a dialysis machine 24/7. I watched him die gasping for air one night (he was on powerful pain meds) and he was looking across at me with our eyes locked. The most helpless feeling I have ever had. When I think of cuddling I wish it to him now.
