I'm just doing this message because you never know when your going to misplace your wallet...
I've found that banking has really changed during a virus pandemic...especially if you loose your wallet and need a banker to get a new temporary debit card from...I understand that once in a great while a wallet gets lost...but this year at banks with getting a new debit card all is different...
Let's say your on your way to an appointment...so you reach down for your wallet to get some gas..."and guess what..."it's not there, so you begin to panic and then frantically check everywhere...you go threw your pockets, a purse, the car, then you drive back to your place, and check everywhere in your home to find there's no wallet.
If your single, and basically don't have anyone to borrow some fast cash from...your really stuck...and will be completely out of luck with getting any money quickly...because during this pandemic and virus time all the personal bankers aren't inside of banks anymore,
Before this pandemic, you would just go inside any bank office and get a temporary debit card, and then your off again..
but, because of this virus...all the bank offices are closed inside right now, and personal banker's are not anywhere to be found...one or two banks are open that have them but usually there far away, or in another city or even state...and that can be an hour away or more...as my situation was this week...
the drive thru's are open but without an state ID, or a picture on a school, ID, or a work photo ID card, your screwed, and you just have to wait until your new cards come in the mail...
so this was my worst situation...my car just happened to be on empty, I couldn't go anywhere far away...didn't have extra cash on hand...so I have to wait until I get my new debit card, which should be on this Monday...my replacement cards were ordered by phone, but that will take 7-10 days to arrive in the mail, I did order quick shipping for my debit card, so that will come in 5 days...everything costs money now that was free at the MVD now...
So here's my TIPS...from having this unexpected experience happen...and I understand that extra cash stored away has been tough to do at this time until we have our stimulus check come in.
1.Keep some cash hidden away in a jar or somewhere easy to get to , or in your glove compartment hidden away... so if you can't find your wallet you have some money to grab for gas,food,or personal things...a hundred bucks would be good.
2. Have another wallet set aside somewhere with another debit card, Photo ID or a credit card for emergency's,
3. Have a digital wallet account set up on your phone to your bank...which I didn't have, and now need to figure out how to do that,
4. Try and have a half a tank of gas in your car at all times... so you can travel to any place an hour away or so if thats needed...triple A will come out if you have it and do run out of gas.
