Has anyone else felt there's lots of fake profiles?
I haven't noticed many fake profiles in my area. What I have noticed is that many of them are inactive.
In my five years on this site, I've seen one profile that looked like it was put together by a bot. Nearly all of the profiles I've visited seem to have real people behind them.
Hmm, what makes you think they are fake? Fake profiles would come with bot like responses typically, or some script, which I haven't seen any of yet.
Atleast scammers message back, am I right guys! JK JK haha

I don't think I've ever seen a profile on here I thought was fake. (I report them all the time on dating sites.) Some are barely profiles, but that's just somebody who has 3/4 created an account and never come back.
I don’t think there’s a lot of fake profiles but maybe the profiles that haven’t been taken down or just people being completely in active because of the Covid stuff
I will say some of the profiles that haven’t been filled out and make it seem like they’re fake profiles and when the opening line is where can I touch you does it really make it sound like a legitimate platonic cuddle
I have noticed some that are fake in terms of being scammers. They get reported and dealt with
2 things I noticed (primarily when I joined) is that there are scammers (not to say that there are a lot, it is very few from what I’ve seen) & also enthusiasts that try to bypass the pro process & than they tell you that they are pro - I didn’t get it at first I’m like “huh? but I don’t get it I thought pro was pro & enthusiast was enthusiast” lol - me being naive to the whole situation - But little by little I learned this place like anything else after a while.

@verona I'm sorry you receive such messages, thanks for sticking around. Probably just people who aren't here for cuddling I guess that would make their accounts illegitimate rather than fake, I suppose.

Fake profiles tend to come and go in waves. At least, if by "fake" we mean a profile that is not who it purports to be. An example would be a profile whose profile pic is lifted from some random website. Sometimes a reverse image source shows that particular photo is all over the Internet, usually on some pretty sketchy sites.
A few years ago, CC got eight new members from the tiny hamlet of Simpson, Louisiana. Different usernames, different photos. But all eight were 6-foot tall females, Native American ethnicity, and listed "veterinarian" as occupation. Since Simpson, Louisiana has a population of only 582 people, I thought it unlikely that eight women from that place would join up --- never mind that they would all be 6 feet tall (taller than 99% of U.S. women), Native American (despite the town being 94% white) and all work as veterinarians. More likely the creator of the profile was in an Internet cafe in Lagos or somewhere, and mistakenly thought LA in the location meant the city of Los Angeles rather than the state of of Louisiana.
But given the number of people who join this site every day, I think the overall amount of obviously bogus profiles is pretty low.
Please report profiles that 1) are not the person they're claiming to be 2) have lifted/stolen/not their own pics (easily checked with reverse Google searches) and 3) always report enthusiasts who are NOT professionals who offer/try to charge. Much thanks. [-Sid]
