@Importance How are you offended? I pointed out that he derailed his own thread by attacking a few posts that everyone moved on from. I commented on his reaction—not on men cuddling. I do not think you know the difference.

@quixotic_life I appreciate you seeking to bring calm to the thread (you are a gentle soul and do it so well), but I feel I have nothing for which to apologize. I didn't make a joke, offensive or otherwise. Please read what I wrote before correcting me. Thanks.

@DrCuddleBug I saw nothing for you to apologize for other than tolerance has become a very short one-way street around here lately. A one word answer is dissected like you just posted Joyce’s “Ulysses”. People are reading too much into it and not having the self-control to just ignore it and move on. These are the same people who say the forums are argumentative when they create the confrontations. What they are really saying when they talk about an open forum that embraces people’s views and opinions is THEIR opinions and views and anything to the contrary is strictly viewed through the prism as being offensive. JMO.

  • @Sideon @SoulcuddlerZ I think it is time to close the thread as no one is reading for comprehension here.

  • @DrCuddleBug ~ I did. That's why I included...

"Whoa! Sorry, yes, I should have included this info [some details] when I first posted. I've edited my post [now includes your above notes] to clarify. Thank you!"

I should have clarified that I didn't know if you were in fact making a joke and were now walking it back or if you really were referencing something obscure. Sorry. Sometimes I think something but neglect typing it.

Either way, the alternatives offered were to replace the post that had the Brady Bunch and taking your ball comments. I felt had you nipped it then all the rest wouldn't have been necessary. But hindsight... right? At least some communication and clarification are happening now... 🙂

    Challenge:

Find and post an example of platonic cuddling, between adults in film, where it is a true cuddle (not being used as a means to an end).

Just looking to realize the normalization of cuddling!
    Can we here?

    Yes. Communication is always welcomed.

I feel as if I need to clear things up. It was not my intent to attack men, or to focus upon violence where men and platonic intimacy are concerned. I understand that this is a sensitive topic, and I also understand that—in my attempts to be humorous—I have disadvantaged men as a whole.

Although I was aiming for levity, I had other messages that I wished to subtly convey with my picks of movies and scenes. I realize now that I should have been clear and direct with said messages, so as to not hurt or offend anyone in particular, or to denigrate men more broadly.

    The points were thus:

It's okay to cuddle a clone of oneself that is created by way of daemonical magic, and that one isn't bound to the means of how they were brought into the world. Furthermore, even if a person (or being of suitable sentience) came into existence through dark sorcery inextricably linked to a blasphemous tome (such as the Necronomicon), that does not make them necessarily evil. In the case of Ash's doppelganger in the Army of Darkness film, his evil became known in the dialogue between him and Ash, right before the importance of morality is debated and concluded by way of a shotgun blast to the doppelganger's face. Prior to that, the characters had a sweet moment cuddling as they escaped from the windmill Ash had taken refuge in; showing that, despite a person being born from terrible magics, even they (in the right circumstances) were worthy of intimate platonic touch. Perhaps, if there had been more platonic touch between the two characters, things would have turned out very differently indeed for Ash's doppelganger.

When it comes to The Human Centipede—which was comprised of two women and one man—I thought to inspire thoughts on the importance of comfort and consent amongst all parties in multi-person cuddles. The three characters were bound to each other in grim circumstances, which I felt could apply to many persons interested in group cuddles, and there was some clear discomfort in their shared circumstances. Again, this highlights how critical everyone's comfort is in a group cuddle.

I should have been far clearer with my intent. Again, I apologize for my insensitivity, and unwittingly damaging men as a whole.

I am so, so, so sorry.

This is the equivalent of #sorrynotsorry. This is baiting and deliberate, @UltimateChungus - be mindful as you proceed. Great writing means being mindful of intention and purpose, and here you fail. [-Sid]

@UltimateChungus: Like @Importance says—why you gotta be so into the old ultraviolence, bro? You just hate the gays, don't you? Everyone knows a dude who thinks the human centipede is funny or that the scene with Ash's doppelganger counts as cuddling is a dude who's a homophobe.

Disclaimer: Chungus and I aren't a gay couple.

We're totally not. I mean, we both look more like dudes than chicks, and we both play male roles in society, and everyone around us calls us both "he," and we do like to get into bed together and snuggle up—especially when it's cold out—but we're not gay!

...No, really we're not. Know how you can tell? 'Cause neither one of us ever looks at the other and thinks, Dang, I'd like to have sex with him. Just doesn't happen. So. Not gay.

    Strictly speaking.

    Hrm... Not adults but...

It's a squishy best friend snuggle love hug!

    @DarrenWalker

Oh golly, I've been revealed as a homophobe. In most cases, jumping to conclusions based on nothing of substance results in the person making the conclusions looking very silly.

But not this time. No, it's totally true. My liking violent films, where violence happens to men, derives from hating homosexual men.

    No personal attacks. Thanks. [-Sid]

You have misrepresented your own post (why?). You twisted a perfectly acceptable response by @nurturingman into a ‘rant’. Men using humour and descriptions of violence to denigrate men cuddling is more than unwelcome here.

  • @UltimateChungus I think you need to descend in your plane—it is too far above the heads of many on this board and they will not even recognize the irony of who you cuddle. Air traffic control has given you clearance.

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@Importance: Men using anything to denigrate men doing cuddling is, indeed, more than unwelcome on a website where lots of people (men, women, and others) all come to cuddle.

Good thing that didn't happen here.

  • I'm not sure it technically satisfies the definition of cuddling, but it will do for a start.

  • Closing this per the @'s and multiple reports.

  • The OP's topic and @quixotic_life 's attempt to get the subject back on track are admirable. Two things to keep in mind: not everyone will have seen any of the aforementioned movies or clips, and not everyone's sense of humor is the same as your own.
