Canceling plans

  • I had to cancel plans at least twice due to other things that came up in my life, including taking care of business obligations. I explained the cause of the cancellation and apologized and we rescheduled. It is a simple courtesy.

  • Sometimes people just have to cancel . I have 3 jobs , a home, hobbies , family, and personal life . I have to cancel and shuffle things around all the time to make sense of things and sometimes just decide I dont have the time or energy to put into something. I would hope that somebody doesn't take it personally if I have to cancel on them , but if they do , and I have been up front with them, I honestly dont see much more that I can do about it . Sometimes you have to put yourself first

  • You’re allowed to put yourself first. Just try not to hurt others feelings.

  • @Importance always. Nothing gained by being selfish or mean

  • @pmvines - For me, it's not an issue unless it's done last minute. If I move my schedule around to spend time with someone and spent the day getting ready only for them to cancel an hour before we were supposed to meet, that's disrespectful.

Of course there are exceptions like if a family member got ill and they had to care for them.

  • I was supposed to meet someone for cuddling for today. We exchanged phone numbers and he sent me a picture of him, so I know who I.am meeting with. I reach out yesterday via text, to confirm, and no answer. I cleared my schedule so we could meet and cuddle. I am disappointed , but I will look for someone else to cuddle with. Very immature on his part to just go silent and not say anything. Smh

  • I definitely do not consider you a bully simply for asking the reason why someone cancels, keeping in mind it is asked, not badgering them or cursing them in order to get answer. Also, I don't believe it is "bullying" for clarifying intentions prior to meeting up. I think the latter is/should be a part of the normal course of conversation pre-meeting. However I don't concern myself with why someone has to cancel on me, although I usually give an idea when I have to cancel something. I don't take cancellations personally, but I do set a boundary whereas X amount of cancellations, I won't pursue a meetup anymore. I find it hard to believe that I'm always the trigger of an emergency situation, lol. That's just me though. People who really want to spend the time will spend the time. And best wishes to those who do not 💜

  • @whitehurst58 really sorry to hear that. It must have been quite a disappointment.

  • Im like @MrPaul ....I don't like saying lets cancel, I'd rather say let's reschedule. Its nice to be nice :)

  • Thank you everyone. I am new to this website and so new to cuddling. I just wanted to know if I did something wrong that made him cancel the plans and instead of telling me if it was something that I did he just called me a bully. All of your comments have made me feel better and like maybe he just did not deserve my time.

  • After reflecting on the post that led to my being warned

quixotic_life Thank you, genuinely, for being the voice of reason. I'll own to having perhaps been more abrasive than strictly necessary, but in part that was a reaction to a forum culture which appears extremely hostile to any dissenting voice or questioning of the forum 'bigwigs'. I'd urge people to consider issues and respond with content rather than jumping in and ad hominen attacking anyone who disagrees with one of their pals.

I think I now see where my error lay, so please allow me to try again...

My previous posting behaviour has never been less than impeccable so I acknowledge no fault. A forum culture which sees groups of regulars gang up to bully anyone who disagrees with one of their number is extremely healthy. Users should be strongly encouraged to respond to posts they don't like by name-calling the poster rather than addressing the issues raised.

    Hopefully, we're all good now.

In various posts above a moderator directs to @tired

    Lay off the personal attacks
your hypocrisy in being that "dissenting voice"
    Hypocrite still stands

In an effort to be generally supportive to the forum, might I suggest that a moderator warning a user against a particular behaviour and then immediately proceeding to engage in that behaviour himself is perhaps not ideal, especially when said behaviour is against the site T&Cs. Going forward, it may be better practice for a mod simply to cite which rule the user has infringed and leave it at that rather than engage in yet more forum name calling. The more so when that name is 'hypocrite'. Hope this helps.

    Seems reasonable to me.

  • I wholy aggree with @tired on the counts that multiple people have supported/quoted unkind remarks directed towards him (in other threads too). And yet while others continue to bait and "lol", only his posts have been flagged.

I just don't like seeing people get the hammer dropped because others felt like flagging to nit pick while there are others still continuing to display name calling/baiting behaviors. Especially after said warning was given.

  • Since "hypocrite" has been deemed an offensive word, what's a nicer word to use that has the same definition?

    @Mike403 ~ I like "dissembler"!

    -and-
    attitudinizer
mountebanker ~ one who engages in mountebankery

further addition ~ but I don't think any of those apply to anyone in this thread...

    final edit ~ formatting related

  • Thank you @quixotic_life for sticking your neck out for me again. You are a brave woman! Despite our initial run in, you were the first to reach out to me before, and I then wanted to reply in kind and show that I would respond well to being shown that consideration. However, being immediately hit with a warning after what I'd intended as a 'bury the hatchet' post to the forum was a little tough to take. I'm not quite sure how things are going to work out from here, but if I am allowed to stay around, I will try to do better, and that will be due to your good influence.

    End of fawning :)

  • @tired .

One of your comments was flagged as a personal attack, which I removed. You were warned and tagged a second time to lay off the personal attacks, baiting, and forum belligerence, which you promptly ignored. Hence your forum timeout.

I have zero history or interaction with you prior to this thread, so I can't vouch or ascertain how "impeccable" you've been to date. I'll take you at face value moving forward, but if you spent 5 days in forum timeout and come back to "reflect on your post that led you to being warned" I have serious doubts to your sincerity or goodwill. Time will tell.

    Have a nice day.

  • Sorry @Sideon, my bad again for reflecting. I apparently misunderstood the rational for issuing a warning. I will make a genuine effort to do better in future. You have a nice day too.

  • @tired Hey, i am not taking sides on this, but i can say that @Sideon is a very even-handed moderator. I have seen no evidence of any vendettas from him and we had a history of knocking heads before he became a mod. I am just saying he is fair and honest.

  • @FunCartel Thanks for that. Point taken. I'm sure you're right. No doubt moderation is a pretty thankless task so I could have been more gracious.

  • OMG!!! That! ☝ Up there... ☝☝☝ All of that!!!
Is an example of one of the biggest reasons I love it here!!!
