It's happened multiple times this week, to and from people. It looks really bad, might cause people to stop reading, or annoy them. Surely it can't be a difficult fix, or just happening for me.

I got a duplicate from someone and I took it as an error. I think it saves messages that people send in the box. Then when the page reloads or if they come back to the chat they think they didn't send the message and tap send again. Or do so accidentally. It can be a helpful feature if limited to prior to sending it.
