Poems of Love

In honor of V Day!

This is one of my many poems I've written. Purely love based. To all!

"Still looking for you..:

I walk on this path of my life, and I found your garden.

Invaded and immersed in the beauty of your colors, not even the glorious sunrise knows what to do before you.

I got there and didn't want to leave. Planting my own roots rather than growing with yours. My walk, traveler of this life, renouncing with the anchor firmly in the earth.

And now I am here. After my storms and thunders. Without knowing that my climate was going to affect you.

And here I am. I'm looking for that flower of yours and those petals that stole my heart. After a rose is withered, where does its perfume go?

Pulling these roots of mine from you hurts, because even if you are not here, my roots are still entangled with yours.

Looking for your garden

    Roses are cool
    Violets are funky
    When I'm thinking of you
    I'm slapping my monkey.

    (This is my original poem I made it do not steal my art thank you.)

    Roses are red
    Trump is a boomer
    How quickly these threads
    turn into sex humor

    Ooh. I have a number of poems to share. Let me know if any of these seem familiar.

    All My Love

    How I love the name of Susan!
    It fills my heart with joy and love;
    Some day I'll see her in her glory
    When I reach her home above.

    Each day of my life I'll live for her,
    And like her I will try to be;
    My prayer that through the life I shall live
    Someone the way of Sue may see.

    Soon she's coming down to welcome me,
    'Twill be a happy wondrous day;
    Saved ones will meet the Lady in the sky
    And dwell in mansions far away.

    Anywhere is Home

    Earthly wealth and fame
    May never come to me,
    And a palace fair
    Here mine may never be;
    But let come what may,
    If Jane for me doth care,
    Anywhere is home
    If she is only there.

    Anywhere is home, sweet home,
    Let come and go what may,
    Anywhere I chance to roam,
    She keeps me all the way, each day;
    So for my dear master's sake,
    My pain I'll meekly bear,
    Anywhere is home, sweet home,
    If Jane, my love, is only there.

    Be With Me, Tim

    Be with me, Tim—I cannot live without you
    I dare not try to take one step alone
    I cannot bear the loads of life unaided
    I need your strength to lean myself upon.

    Be with me, Tim! No other gift or blessing
    You could bestow could with this one compare:
    A constant sense of your abiding presence
    Wherever I am, to feel that you are near.

    Blessed Assurance

    Blessed assurance, Janet is mine!
    Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
    Hair of ebony, angel of God
    Born of His spirit, washed in His blood.

    Perfect submission, perfect delight
    Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
    Angels descending bring from above
    Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

    Perfect submission, all is at rest;
    I in my girlfriend am happy and blessed;
    Watching and waiting, looking above,
    Filled with her goodness, lost in her love.

    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my girlfriend all the day long;
    This is my story, this is my song,
    Praising my girlfriend all the day long.

    Closer to You

    Closer to you, near to your side,
    Closer, Mother, I would abide;
    Hold me in your embrace,
    'Neath every smile of grace,
    Grant me, your child, a place
    Closer to you.

    Closer to you, near to your breast,
    Closer to you, Mum, let me rest;
    Guide me when I would stray,
    Keep me from death each day,
    Draw me, Mother, I pray,
    Closer to you.

    Does Edith Care?

    Does Edith care when my heart is pained
    Too deeply for mirth and song,
    As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
    And the way grows weary and long?

    Does Edith care when my way is dark
    With a nameless dread and fear?
    As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
    Does she care enough to be near?

    Does Edith care when I've tried and failed
    To resist some temptation strong?
    When for my deep grief I find no relief,
    Though my tears flow all the night long?

    Does Edith care when I've said goodbye
    To the dearest of family,
    And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks—
    Is it aught to her? Does she see?

    Oh yes, she cares, I know she cares,
    Her heart is touched with my grief;
    When the days are weary,
    The long nights dreary,
    I know she cares for me.

    I've got lots more. A whole book, actually....

    i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
    my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
    by only me is your doing, my darling)
    i fear
    no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
    no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
    and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
    and whatever a sun will always sing is you

    here is the deepest secret nobody knows
    (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
    and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
    higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
    and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

    i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

    E.E. Cummings

  • All this poems are of temporary love and lust, where are the poems of eternal love, where love goes beyond our comprehension. But we still strive to make it grow, as this mortal body fades away,as we get near to our end, but love never dies, with the time we waste alive.

    Okay, I'll stop goofing around now. I like this love poem by Mary Oliver:

    I KNOW SOMEONE

    I know someone who kisses the way
    a flower opens, but more rapidly.
    Flowers are sweet. They have
    short, beatific lives. They offer
    much pleasure. There is
    nothing in the world that can be said
    against them.
    Sad, isn’t it, that all they can kiss
    is the air.

    Yes, yes! We are the lucky ones.

  • The Flea
    BY JOHN DONNE
    Mark but this flea, and mark in this,
    How little that which thou deniest me is;
    It sucked me first, and now sucks thee,
    And in this flea our two bloods mingled be;
    Thou know’st that this cannot be said
    A sin, nor shame, nor loss of maidenhead,
    Yet this enjoys before it woo,
    And pampered swells with one blood made of two,
    And this, alas, is more than we would do.

    Oh stay, three lives in one flea spare,
    Where we almost, nay more than married are.
    This flea is you and I, and this
    Our marriage bed, and marriage temple is;
    Though parents grudge, and you, w'are met,
    And cloistered in these living walls of jet.
    Though use make you apt to kill me,
    Let not to that, self-murder added be,
    And sacrilege, three sins in killing three.

    Cruel and sudden, hast thou since
    Purpled thy nail, in blood of innocence?
    Wherein could this flea guilty be,
    Except in that drop which it sucked from thee?
    Yet thou triumph’st, and say'st that thou
    Find’st not thy self, nor me the weaker now;
    ’Tis true; then learn how false, fears be:
    Just so much honor, when thou yield’st to me,
    Will waste, as this flea’s death took life from thee.

  • listen
    beloved
    i dreamed
    it appeared that you thought to
    escape me and became a great
    lily atilt on
    insolent
    waters but i was aware of
    fragrance and i came riding upon
    a horse of porphyry into the
    waters i rode down the red
    horse shrieking from splintering
    foam caught you clutched you upon my
    mouth
    listen
    beloved
    i dreamed in my dream you had
    desire to thwart me and became
    a little bird and hid
    in a tree of tall marble
    from a great way i distinguished
    singing and i came
    riding upon a scarlet sunset
    trampling the night easily
    from the shocked impossible
    tower i caught
    you strained you
    broke you upon my blood
    listen
    beloved i dreamed
    i thought you would have deceived
    me and became a star in the kingdom
    of heaven
    through day and space i saw you close
    your eyes and i came riding
    upon a thousand crimson years arched with agony
    i reined them in tottering before
    the throne and as
    they shied at the automaton moon from
    the transplendant hand of sombre god
    i picked you
    as an apple is picked by the little peasants for their girls

  • Litany
    BY CAROLYN CREEDON
    Tom, will you let me love you in your restaurant?
    I will let you make me a sandwich of your invention and I will eat it and call
    it a carolyn sandwich. Then you will kiss my lips and taste the mayonnaise and
    that is how you shall love me in my restaurant

    Tom, will you come to my empty beige apartment and help me set up my daybed?
    Yes, and I will put the screws in loosely so that when we move on it, later,
    it will rock like a cradle and then you will know you are my baby

    Tom, I am sitting on my dirt bike on the deck. Will you come out from the kitchen
    and watch the people with me?
    Yes, and then we will race to your bedroom. I will win and we will tangle up
    on your comforter while the sweat rains from our stomachs and foreheads

    Tom, the stars are sitting in tonight like gumball gems in a little girl’s
    jewelry box. Later can we walk to the duck pond?
    Yes, and we can even go the long way past the jungle gym. I will push you on
    the swing, but promise me you’ll hold tight. If you fall I might disappear

    Tom, can we make a baby together? I want to be a big pregnant woman with a
    loved face and give you a squalling red daughter.
    No, but I will come inside you and you will be my daughter

    Tom, will you stay the night with me and sleep so close that we are one person?
    No, but I will lie down on your sheets and taste you. There will be feathers
    of you on my tongue and then I will never forget you

    Tom, when we are in line at the convenience store can I put my hands in your
    back pockets and my lips and nose in your baseball shirt and feel the crook
    of your shoulder blade?
    No, but later you can lie against me and almost touch me and when I go I will
    leave my shirt for you to sleep in so that always at night you will be pressed
    up against the thought of me

    Tom, if I weep and want to wait until you need me will you promise that someday
    you will need me?
    No, but I will sit in silence while you rage, you can knock the chairs down
    any mountain. I will always be the same and you will always wait

    Tom, will you climb on top of the dumpster and steal the sun for me? It’s just
    hanging there and I want it.
    No, it will burn my fingers. No one can have the sun: it’s on loan from God.
    But I will draw a picture of it and send it to you from Richmond and then you
    can smooth out the paper and you will have a piece of me as well as the sun

    Tom, it’s so hot here, and I think I’m being born. Will you come back from
    Richmond and baptise me with sex and cool water?
    I will come back from Richmond. I will smooth the damp spiky hairs from the
    back of your neck and then I will lick the salt off it. Then I will leave

    Tom, Richmond is so far away. How will I know how you love me?
    I have left you. That is how you will know

  • One of my ultimate favorites. By Percy Bysshe Shelley.

    Nobody notices the little things

    The roses on the table

    The ribbon on the door

    It's the little things that make me smile

    The heart shaped button on the floor

    The big things make me lose my mind

    The little things are not hard to find

  • [Deleted User]DeadGirlWalking (deleted user)

    I genuinely don't understand poetry. I just don't.... Get it?

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    @TeaGoddessBabe My foot would be the first to find that damn button, I'm sure of it. :tired_face:

    When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes,
    I all alone beweep my outcast state,
    And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
    And look upon myself and curse my fate,
    Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
    Featured like him, like him with friends possessed,
    Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope,
    With what I most enjoy contented least;
    Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
    Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
    (Like to the lark at break of day arising
    From sullen earth) sings hymns at heaven’s gate;
    For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings
    That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

    Sonnet 29
    William Shakespeare

  • My funky honey
    You know the story
    Our meeting was inevitable but so unlikely
    I had no idea you were going to like me, yet you enticed me
    And even today you still excite me
    We met in the strangest online Kommunity
    In an innocent chat room
    Little did I know that room would ever make a difference in my life

    My funky honey
    We had so much in common
    Same home county, same current town, same wacky sense of humor, same hobbies
    We met and we clicked
    You were one slick chick
    So I figured I would stick around and see what you could bring to town
    I noticed your spontaneity right away as clear as day
    You didn’t care where we went, as long as we had fun
    For all you cared, we could write puns or shoot guns or take a run with a nun in the sun or shun the nonbeliever while lifting a ton
    Or smoke hookah
    You were weird. I liked that.
    At last, that night, I finally got to be your knight in shining armor.
    I knew something was there.

    My funky honey
    I remember the day I asked you to be mine
    For us to combine
    I knew you wanted to, but I wasn’t sure if it was time
    You had sent signals
    Strong signals.
    VERY strong signals.
    But I couldn’t stand waiting any longer
    I finally got stronger and just spit it out
    You accepted
    I rejoiced
    We connected

    My funky honey
    I know not what my future holds
    Nor what will unfold in your world
    Maybe you’ll get married and I won’t
    Maybe I’ll be a millionaire, and you’ll be a naked Care Bear who likes to talk to pears and eat her own hair
    Only God knows what our futures hold
    But there are a few fundamental truths I refuse to disregard,
    My funky honey.

    Number one—
    God brought us together for a reason
    Be it for a lifetime or just for a season

    Number two—
    You enhance my life, add romance to my life
    We danced the best dance I’ve ever danced in my life
    You free my soul till I lose control
    And finally I’m ALIVE!
    With you in my life, I don’t just survive; I thrive
    I dive into the depths of adventure
    And venture into that thirst quencher which is your soul
    It’s so troubled yet still beautiful
    Because the Holy Ghost is there

    Number three—
    You are the epitome of awesomazingness.

    And last but not least
    Number four—
    I think I’ll keep you around for a while,
    My funky honey.
