Chungus Hunt

[Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

Hey everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood chungus here. I've noticed that some of you don't like me much. That's fine! My superb means of self-expression and my amazing sense of humor, aren't going to be appreciated by everyone.

While some people are more vocal and direct regarding their disdain for me, I've seen (a few times) others obliquely reference me, as if speaking my name will summon me or bring a curse upon their families.

So, for the benefit of those individuals, I thought: "Why not make a thread where they can voice their concerns without worrying about derailing a thread?" And so here we are!

Do you, dear reader, think that I'm a force of evil who stifles expression and drives people away? Please let me know, in a clear and direct fashion. This is your chance to shine—to be a champion to those you feel are disadvantaged by my presence, to share the virtues of a belief that I've ravaged with my boundless negativity.

You can do it. Have at me.

  • I’m just going to leave this here.

    Aww... I thought this was gonna be like that old internet game "Hunt the Wumpus". I was all ready to start looking through caves, falling into pits, getting shot with arrows, and having my ass hauled around by a giant swarm of bats.

  • I like ya and I've never talked with you. I tend to prefer knowing exactly where I stand with someone and you seem to have no problem providing that in the threads I have read.

    There's is always a chance I won't like you once I have actual interaction with you, but I'll let you know.

    @ChefKate

    Aw, thank you.

    I spoken with at least 5 others who don't like you. All of them ave been reluctant to speak out because of your immediate tendencies to insult or ridicule those who don't agree with you any chance you get. I'm guessing not many will speak out here other than your loyalists. But I will take the opportunity to voice my disdain in place of these others as you have provided the opening.

    Now that I have had my say, feel free to comment. But know I probably won't respond as I try to keep most of my comments on the lighter side. I've expressed myself sufficiently here and in the other thread.

    Edit: Maybe you should make this an anonymous poll. Like, dislike, indifferent. You might a truer result.

    @DarkLordChungus don't push it... lol

    But seriously, I've seen some of the posts you're referring to. However I haven't seen why people feel like that about you and/or react to you that way. Where's the dirt?

  • I am one of your admirers and I missed you when you were gone, I like some dark in my soup. I see people's difficulty with your sardonic humor which at times is pointed toward things others hold dear (and thus they take it personally), and at times is actually pointed toward another's place of struggle or vulnerability. Lumping large areas that you have judgment about into the "dumb" bin isn't exactly neighborly, and can be downright shaming and a kick when someone's down, even where there might be value for the sturdy in one who pokes incessant fun at the places where the rest of us are building castles in the sky.

    I find you to be generally hella funny, highly creative and wildly clever and when it doesn't have a poison dart flying through the air to someone else's recent vulnerable share, I read your posts with 100% relish. The other times there's a whole lot of shudder as though the expense for your creativity is the shaming of another vulnerable human.

  • For what it’s worth (and I know the majority of folks will disagree) it takes a certain type of humour to be able to appreciate this guy. I’ve gotten into some minor spats over a couple topics but at the end of the day I’d be lying if I didn’t see some things El Chungo said that made me snort. He’s a comedically macabre-minded individual.

    He’s also a misanthrope. They’re hard people for the general populace to get along with, mainly because misanthropes despise the human race and tend to have a bleak or nonexistent take on humanity. I’m an empath. A snarky one, albeit. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate grim sarcasm, dark humour, and tasteless pokes and it doesn’t make me not mean all the time. I can be downright negative at times, as well. So I relate in a way to Chungus.

    I think if we’re rejecting him, we might be rejecting some part of ourselves as well that we’re not okay with. Sure, he stirs the pot. Don’t we all to some extent? He’s been banned already. If the mods agreed with the disdain, he wouldn’t be allowed back.

  • Interesting analysis, @Catloaf

    I think somebody needs a little attention today...

    @Catloaf in a way, aren't we all Chungus....?

    @lets_cuddlee is it you? Do you want a virtual hug? Bring it in dude.

    As for @DarkLordChungus, yes on occasion you can be a bit 'much' for some people, because you are very blunt. Do I also find you funny? On many occasions, yes.

    I think to summarise, it can best be said that I genuinely like you, but I don't know why 😂

    in a way, aren't we all Chungus....?

    Wait, I'm getting confused. Does @DarkLordChungus actually exist? Has he just been a metaphor this whole time? :astonished:

  • I was on the same thread that brought about the death of the Goblin and it was very typical of this site at that time. You offered an alternate view and the thread creator got butt hurt because they claimed “ownership” of the thread. We both got chastised for that because some people think that everything is about them, rainbows and lollipops. But I summoned the all the dead rainbow and lollipop fetuses to bring the dark overlord back. The marrow of the rainbow and lollipop fetuses became @DarkLordChungus and the cuddling became colder and darker. All hail Dark Lord.

    But seriously, I love your bluntness, creativity and dark humor. Unfortunately, there are a few knuckleheads impaled on sticks in a certain orifice that believe the world is a Brady Bunch rerun minus the Marsha, Marsha, Marsha fascist dramatic tension. You are always welcome here in my book.

  • Well this is a weird ass thread lmao strange thing to post on a cuddling site

  • @Tersay Well vanilla ice cream is on aisle 13

  • @FunCartel can Lollipop Corpse be the name of our emo polka band?

  • @ChefKate Yes and we can take our act and headline at Mar-a-Lago. Can you do “Crucify” by Tori Amos on the accordion?

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    I see @DarkLordChungus as mostly attacking ideas, rather than people.

    "The idea that certain emotions or actions make you vibrate, and the vibration kills Covid, is a stupid one," he says—or "The concept of a certain day meaning you have to spend money or else people won't know you care for them is dumb."

    And then people attack him, personally, for not liking their ideas.

    But of course direct ad hominem attacks are verboten in the forums! So they attack him vaguely, avoiding his name like he's Voldemort while they vilify him. Him, personally. Not his ideas: him. His character.

    Which is, admittedly, a spiky one... but I like it.

    Anyway, that's how I see it.

    @Tersay you must be new here! Welcome to the funhouse 😂

    @DarrenWalker I think that's pretty accurate, actually.

    Also, I'd listen to an emo polka band called Lollipop Corpse.

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    Heh. "Lollipop Corpse." Makes me think of Pink from The Legend of Sun Knight. I'd listen to that band, too!

  • In one of his last threads he attacked someone for being cringe. That seemed extremely personal.

  • [Deleted User]DeadGirlWalking (deleted user)

    In which thread?

  • [Deleted User]lets_cuddlee (deleted user)

    @DarrenWalker just because he's saying "your idea is stupid," rather "you are stupid," doesn't actually make him sound a lot better. And if you're gonna be that condescending towards everyone that you disagree with, then don't be surprised when those same people are not exactly your biggest fans. "Your idea is stupid" isn't clever, even if it's wrapped up in a "humorous" quip or one-liner, and it's a bad way to start any conversation, or win friends.

    Speaking of 'not winning friends.....' 🙄

    Also, I didn't read what Darren said as being condescending at all. Based on your comments on this thread it seems like you have a problem with both @DarrenWalker and @DarkLordChungus but it's not entirely clear what the problem is, or why you have to be so vocal about your disdain. If you don't like what he has to say, why not just.... Ignore it? Asking him if he 'needs attention' is just unnecessarily inflammatory.

    @lets_cuddlee: Well, I've had stupid ideas before. And if no one had ever told me those ideas were stupid, I'd probably still have 'em.

    There's a rather large difference between saying a person is stupid and saying a belief is stupid. I don't like being told I'm stupid. It makes me feel all defensive. But being told one of my ideas is dumb? Well, that's different!

    Anybody can have a dumb idea—it's like a rip in your pants. Me, I'd rather somebody told me than just let me go around like that.

    Even if "Hey, your underwear's showing!" is a rude thing to say.

    And thanks, @BuggleBear. If I've been condescending in this thread at all, I didn't mean to be! (I hardly ever do mean to be. Sometimes! But rarely.)

  • [Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

    @lets_cuddlee

    I'm not super concerned with sounding "better", as what is considered better will differ from person to person.

    I'm also not surprised that some people don't like me. I acknowledge this in the opening post to this thread, in fact. What I thought to do was give such persons the opportunity to voice their dislike directly, instead of referencing me in a tone similar to dull children talking about an alleged monster in the basement.

    I didn't expect this thread to be so...positive. It's pretty nice, actually, especially since I do often try to entertain others with my commentary.

    "'Your idea is stupid' isn't clever, even if it's wrapped up in a 'humorous' quip or one-liner..."

    I mostly agree with this, actually. It isn't very clever. But so long as what I write is more clever than whatever post I'm responding to—which isn't a high bar to clear most of the time—then I'm fine, I think.

    Lastly, I'm not interested in changing how I express myself in order to make friends.

    I think I remember you DarkLordChungus. You were the one who bullied me off the forum with personal attacks. I think it was only my second post and you targeted me with really disturbing and bizarre insinuations. If I have time, I'll look for the thread tomorrow and put them up here. After I left, a bunch of people messaged me to offer sympathy. They said that they were afraid you would target them and that there were a couple other people would gang up with you to bully people. Some of them said you did that to them personally which made them stop posting. I was told you were banned shortly after that.

    @JohnfromVienna: Oh, I remember you! You were the guy insisting that coercing women into doing things they didn't want to do with you was for their own good, right?

    Geez, I'd forgotten @DarkLordChungus wrote that. That's pretty good.

    Edit: A link to the original comment, for context.

    "I've been contacted by a lot of girls who'd like to cuddle. I know most girls are as apprehensive as you are. They end up chickening out. I wish I could figure out a way to convey to them how safe, and loving, and caring I am and how sweetly I would treat them. You feel love in your heart and you know you have this power to fulfill their need to be held but they're too afraid to actually do it. That's really sad. Girls who are too afraid are missing out and they're often the ones who need the healing benefits of cuddling the most. Bold girls get more out of life! Take risks!"

    Translation: Women contact you, then decide you give them bad vibes and back off—which you respond to by telling them to ignore their instincts and cuddle you anyway, because if they don't they're cowards who're missing out on life. Whoo-whee!
