what price you think will bitcoin go up by in 5 years?
I have Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is already overvalued. That's not to say that the bitcoin bubble is ready to burst yet, or that all cryptocurrencies are necessarily doomed to failure, but...only gamble with what you can afford to lose.
Yes
Nope, don't have it
I don’t , won’t Not now . I keep thinking that there will be a sell-off and we have a repeat Enron debacle that occurred with those created “ credit default swaps” someone invented
I don't, although thought about it... still invest the old fashioned way.
Who here has bitcoin
Yes, though not a fan of its core community. I like it as a unique asset that oscillates in value explosively around its network growth. I find it really interesting to look at on-chain analytics (e.g. Glassnode) as a guide for where it is in the cycle.
My deeper interest is in the parallel financial system (DeFi) being built on Ethereum. That's something I actually use regularly as an end-user and it has essentially replaced my bank account.
@mtp
Worth noting that 'bubble' is not a negative here. This is not a singular bubble like those often referenced from history. Bitcoin grows in a series of bubbles (2011, 2013, 2017, 2021). This is more analogous to early growth of a start-up and the violent valuation jumps that happen behind closed doors in seed rounds. Here we are seeing it in full view and in real time.
I have multiple forms of crypto currency.
My only regret is I sold a third of my bitcoin 5 years ago.
I would be sitting rather high.
But I'm more of a hobbyist by nature. I play around with stock investments too, but there is something about crypto that is really interesting to me.
I dislike crypto because you buy a bunch of hardware to burn a bunch of power that accomplishes nothing useful for money. Bleh
@JasonCuddles But if you get enough bitcoin miners going they can help heat your home all winter!
It clearly offers some value (e.g. uncorrelated asset with deep liquidity). Whether that value makes the energy consumption worthwhile is open for debate.
There's research that shows mining operations have an inclination to occur near the cheapest energy. In many cases, energy that would otherwise go to waste in those local areas (e.g. water dams).
That said, I do hope an alternative verification process can be successful, such as Proof of Stake in Ethereum's roadmap.
I once had crypto but penicillin cured me.
I could have been an early founder with Bitcoin but I passed now I regret it!
Yes, I bought some during the last spike in 2017.
I have small amounts of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Anyone tormenting themselves by investing in dogecoin?
Like @MissAdventurous i have several forms of crypto currency, I knew absolutely nothing about them (except for Bitcoin & it being this virtual currency thing I didn’t quite understand & had no interest for) to now having an in-depth understanding of Blockchain / Proof of Work / Proof Of Stake / Fin-tech/ hot & cold wallets / Cross border payments & the list goes on, all this in just the last several months.
If you feel you’re too late to the game, you’re not! It is barely getting started & also always remember you never gained or lost until you actually sell … view the dip as an opportunity, & also have a good understanding of what the crypto company you’re investing in mission & purpose is, what are they setting out to accomplish/ tokenomics / competitors & who is behind the projects as well as stakeholders. There are amazing Ido’s happening where if you’re lucky enough to join private sell, you can amass a great deal of tokens, coins for just several 100’s of dollars..
always do your own research/ due diligence & never just follow what anyone says on the matter blindly! Look at all the pros & cons never just a bias view, There are a bunch of scammers online so always be careful sharing or giving information, also it is far more valuable to hodle than it is to day trade. To answer your bitcoin question if it will reach 500k by 2025 absolutely, but there are farrrrrr better superior projects out there right now or under development…
Etherum is a perfect example how it is by far superior with its smart contracts & crypto integration with other devs but it trails behind -many reasons why- buy this will change , Bitcoin is the 1st (the mothership) so it’ll take years for it to get overtaken, and the market continues to react positively or negatively due to what happens with btc, but this will absolutely change (think of Bitcoin as being Ford/ Atari / or Yellow cab 🚕 & now you have Mercedes/ PlayStation/ Uber)
@cuddles_ndream Such great info!!
And I love this!!

Crypto has been a fun hobby of mine (read very small time investor) for a while now, and I even accept it as payment. Haha.
Now I’m just waiting for a cuddle crypto currency 🤔 🤓
@squeakytoy im holding off on it til it stabilizes. I feel like there’s an anti Elon community that tries to tank anything he talks about
@valkyrievixen Thank you really 😊
The fact that you accept it as payment let’s me know you’re wayyyy ahead of your time, you’re a very smart woman !! (But I knew this already 🤪)
If we’re talking in baseball ⚾️ terms, we are only in the second inning , 1 out … hodl those coins 🪙 😉😎
LOL...right on with the baseball terminology. 😂
And of course!! To have and to hodl! 👰 😂
Lol @ “To have & to hodl” 😅😂 I’m definitely married 💍 to my cryptos & refuse to sell any of the ones in my portfolio 💼 before three years from now (I’m Thinking more 5-10 but at minimum 3) even entire countries & nations are either implementing or partnering to create ‘cbdc’ for their currency or “fiat money” … crypto is here to stay 😛

I think Ether overtakes Bitcoin within 6-12 months. At least briefly.
Narratives are everything in crypto and right now Ethereum has it all with DeFi, EIP-1559 and The Merge. Also, interesting to see how strong the ETH-BTC ratio has been over recent downside volatility.
@Mark you’re absolutely right just imagine when ETH 2.0 gets fully integrated & takes care of network congestion/ high gas fees / & the ability to proof of stake, Vitalik is a genius , as is Charles Hoskinson , and although I think ETH will be the winner, I see extraordinary amazing things happening with Ada & that they both can co-exist… I feel the same about Jed McCaleb and his previous & current projects.
It's a valid hedge but over the years I've only ever seen promises from Charles without meaningful delivery and adoption. That said, his organisation creates good research which is good for the industry. I just find it hard to see genuine competition for layer-1 now adoption on Ethereum's layer-2 is exploding (Polygon, Arbitrum, etc). Forgive the maximalist view but at this point I think any successful competition will ultimately bridge to Ethereum as a sidechain thereby strengthening the network.
Personally I feel all cryptocurrency should be shut down. Having an end to crypto would shut down the dark web for sex trafficking, ransom ware demands and trafficking of minors.
@soulfulspirit shutting down cryptocurrencies is a perfectly legitimate viewpoint, although enforcement would be very difficult. However, all the things you mentioned existed before crypto, and shutting it down won't stop them: all you would be doing is disrupting organised crime's finance department. HR, Sales, Operations, Transport, etc would be unaffected.
@cuddlerforu24
we have a repeat Enron debacle that occurred with those created “ credit default swaps” someone invented
Enron went bust because they were crooks who didn't understand what they were doing. In a past life I dealt a few credit default swaps, and I talked to Enron about them. After I talked to Enron about them, and they told me many lies, I went round the market and informed my connections (as best I could, without breaking Enron's confidentiality) what had happened. I never did a deal with Enron obviously.
Credit default swaps are a very useful financial tool, when used honestly and correctly by people who understand them. And they are about as like cryptocurrencies as a wedding dress is like axle grease.
Don't confuse the criminal with the tools used in the crime.
It is crazy to think that hoskinson & vitalik both created ethereum, vitalik was just 19 at that …. but they both had a different vision & now they’re implementing their own strategies … Ethereum will be to the crypto world what Facebook is to the social media world , I’ll just be happy if Ada reaches & holds at 7.05 lol I was very happy when it hit an all time high of 2.49 a couple of weeks ago. What are your thoughts on Xrp & Xlm if you’re familiar?
@soulfulspirit the dark web was there before crypto … All those things you mention happens with or without it … that argument is like saying we should shut down currency & go back to a barter system because some people use paper money to buy hardcore drugs / illegal unregistered firearms / activities ect ect , infact crypto will actually hold the financial space accountable & way more honest. It is already making banks 🏦 look so outdated and eventually so unnecessary unless they change.
