Extra charges, fees and booking payments

I see cuddlers that charge extras. One had a $100 fee for covid, others that charge for milage. Others want a payment on booking. Are those extra charges shared with CC. If a cuddler gets an booking payment through venmo or some other app, is CC responsible if the cuddle flakes?

    @jim1959 Simply put, a pro decides their own rate and pricing. CC is the middleman, and takes a 15% cut of the total session cost. If a pro has extra fees, that’s up to them. People who go pro on CC aren’t employed by the company - they’re just independent contractors on an advertising platform at that point. So if someone flakes, no, they’re not responsible.

    @Catloaf is quite right. Cuddle Comfort is essentially a social networking site. They have no more responsibility for somebody flaking than the phone company does, if you arranged a meeting by phone.

    I had a situation where I paid a cudler and they weren't able to show because of a family emergency. Once they didn't pay me on time to reimburse me for what I paid, but they were not able to come, Cuddle Comfort go involved. It was settled and the pro paid after being warned. So while it might not be responsible, they can help you in a situation such as this.

    From my experience, each cuddler has their own system for charging for gas, mileage, etc. That is not Cuddle Comfort's responsibility. You as the consumer have to be able to decide whether you want to accept the charges or not.

    Because I've had many cuddlers cancel on me at the last minute, including while I'm already on my way, I require my travel fee to be paid in advance, especially if it's a long distance. The payment for the session itself can be paid once I arrive.

    @bekah_cuddles Very true! It's essential to have a system in place- deposits protect both the professional for their time and the cuddle client to ensure their appointment time is held. As there are no shows and last minute cancellations that pros face, it's essential to see who really wants to book the time and the deposit helps with this. Especially when travel costs money and booking a hotel costs money. We need to make sure the person who booked us will show up! Since putting deposits in place, I have had almost zero cancellations.

    Now, onto the cuddling!

    Use cash going forward, the pro’s I’ve encountered prefer this and it ensures that you don’t get taken advantage of. As far as the extra fees, some of them make sense To me but not all. I get hotel room when I host. I’m not being reimbursed for this, so extra fees aren’t something I usually pay.

    I know that if a parking situation requires payment like a parking fee at a public hotel or public parking location I will ask the cuddler to cover for that if they are requesting me to come to them since I do also host.

    I also may expand a rate due to further traveling. I don't travel too far out but when someone requests to see me specifically, they often already have it in mind to pay me a higher rate to make it out.

    Other than that, I don't really ask for anything extra. someone suggested I charge a % if someone asks to pay via credit card since my app charges every transaction via CC but people are always welcome to add that on to their payment as a tip.

    Every pro is different.

    Only extra charge I have is for travel which is more so for longer distances. Let’s say I have a 2 hour drive round trip. It’s a matter of my personal time having value. As well as cost of fuel and stress of driving.

    I compensate clients if they book the hotel by offering an extra hour for free. I also give new clients extra time for free.

    If a client burns me and no shows or ghosts and they approach me again for a session I think requesting half the cost of the session as a deposit is fair.

    @squeakytoy What are we to do if we forget to cancel but charges were already taken out of my account. I sent a email but if was never responded to after the fact. If someone reads my mail they can see my cuddler canceled. How do I get my fee back? Thank you

    Why am I seeing a lot of pros that have a minimum 2-hour visit even if the cuddler is coming to them but still list a cost per hour? Why even say how much per hour if they don't do hour long visits? Is that even allowed under the site rules to have a minimum 2-hour visit?

    Prepping for a session takes mental energy. If we host we have sheets / blankets to sanitize. Some pros feel it is not worth their time to take a chunk of their day to prep for a session that's only 1 hour.
    Other pros prefer longer sessions to make it worth their time and cutting into their day to do a session, which is reasonable IMO. Longer sessions equal better return for their time.

    I don't know if there's a rule on having a minimum, I don't see why there would be.

    @Cntrydance28340 I typically have only one session per day, so really prefer a minimum of 1.5 hour sessions, but it's not a black and white rule... 🤔

    @Cntrydance28340 no problem. You had a genuine question. I didn't feel like it was an attack on pros at all. 😊 It never hurts to ask if there's some wiggle room on their 2 hour minimum, they may have changed their policy but their profile doesn't reflect that. Being polite and understanding when asking can go a long way!

    @Cntrydance28340 I believe professionals are required to quote a basic hourly rate. This does not imply that that one hour sessions are available, but it provides a simple and direct way of comparing prices.

    Professionals are free to run their business as they please. The only rule is a minimum rate of $40/hour. Cuddle Comfort is a social networking site (not an agency): it provides a way for people who are doing their own thing to get in touch with each other.

    A one hour session is barely worth it for any professional cuddler. A single session typically involves one to three hours work, not counting the time with the client. (More if it's a first time client, obviously.) So in a one hour session you only get paid one hour for perhaps three hours work. If it's a two hour session, you get paid two hours for four hours work, which is clearly much better.
