Two Sentence Stories

In honour of Captain Sir Thomas Moore, who walked laps of his garden and raised £32 million in funding for the NHS at the height of the Covid pandemic in the UK, I am taking part in the '100 Challenge'.

Though the challenge will generally run over the Bank Holiday weekend, I have decided to pursue a bigger challenge, that will take a little longer to pull together.

It is my aim to write/collate a book of 100 Two Sentence Stories, dedicated to Captain Sir Tom, and sell copies to fundraise for the NHS.

If you have an idea/concept for a short story, however vague, and are happy for me to use it as the basis for a story in the book (you will be credited in the 'contributors' page) or if you would like to submit a piece for consideration (with full author credit) then please inbox me ☺️ (To clarify, you would not be paid for your story, and I am making no profit from this project as all money is going to the NHS charities)

    @DarkLordChungus: Well, for charity. So you get paid in the pleasant feeling of having contributed to the support of the National Health Service, knowing that they've got more money to possibly save more lives, and it's at least a little bit because of you.

    Some people value that. Other people probably just see it as an opportunity to practice writing and feel like their efforts aren't completely valueless. Others.... [shrug] I dunno.

    @DarkLordChungus, I appreciate that not everyone will want to work for free, which is why there is zero expectation on my end for anyone to give me a story.

    However, anyone that wants to in the spirit of altruism is able to.

    This is merely a fun little project that people are able to join in with if they wish, for the benefit of an organisation that helps literally every Briton at some point or another.

    I appreciate that as an American, this does not benefit you, either directly or indirectly.

    I would appreciate if anyone else that has a negative comment about this project discuss it with me in private. This is something that is special to me and is giving me a focus after months of ill health, and I don't wish this thread to be derailed by negativity. I am happy to discuss anyone's concerns in private though, as I have no wish to make people feel that their thoughts and concerns are not being heard, I just don't feel it's conducive to the thread to do it here.

    To reiterate, for anyone concerned about the point @DarkLordChungus has made:

    You do not HAVE to write me a story or give me an idea! If you want to, I absolutely appreciate them, but there is no expectation on my part, and I will write all 100 stories with no input from anyone else quite happily if it is going to cause problems.

    This is a famous story, I don't know the origin.

    Once upon a time a famous short story writer went to speak at a school. The message was that the elements of a successful short story are religion, sex, aristocracy, mystery, and brevity.

    Obviously the English teacher set writing a short story as the exercise for the next class. After 30 seconds somebody shot their hand up and said, 'Finished!'

    'Don't be preposterous', said the teacher. 'You can't possibly have finished a story with all five elements.'

    'But I have.' said the pupil, 'Listen!'

    "Oh my God," said the Duchess, I'm pregnant! I wonder whodunnit?"

    dark chocolate v. milk chocolate (white chocolate?) where the clear winner is dark chocolate

    driving a loaner car going on two months while the shop waits for parts to arrive

    resident of multi-unit building asked to remove Black Lives Matter sign due to fear that people going by might think everyone in the building feels that way...

    Dark chocolate, dark chocolate, dark chocolate is waaayyy ahead of milk chocolate and at the line it's dark chocolate by seven or eight lengths ahead of milk chocolate, and those two the only runners in the Chocolate Handicap Stakes. White chocolate a non-runner of course, following the Stewards' Enquiry at Ascot ruling that White chocolate was ineligible.
