A Memorial for “That Other Cuddle Site” (the orange one)—Another COVID-19 Casualty?

I noticed late last night that my membership fee on that other cuddle site (the orange one) had been returned to my PayPal account, and then woke up to find the app down and this message the lone indicator of what happened!


So this is a memorial for the “other cuddle site.” It was clunky and sparsely populated and difficult to use—basically a poor man’s version of this site—but I’m moved by the implied story of the people behind it and the lives that were lost and the fact that they had every reason in the world to just keep my $4.99 this month, but they didn’t.

Any thoughts on this occurrence or any memories to share?

    It is sad that the virus has killed so many people !!!!! I was planning a trip over to the Netherlands just as it hit us here in the US. so I didn't go. I had a close family member that had it, but she was very lucky as it was a very mild case. I have had both of my shots, but I'm still being safe, wearing my mask out in the stores and using hand sanitizer always.
    On that site, I found that one 1st, before this one, I agree it was not that good, I dropped out as soon as I found this one.
    I have met some really nice people on here.

    Did this site come first? If so, does anyone know how they got away with copying this site almost exactly? I mean even the wording of all the alternative genders to choose from in one’s profile is identical on both sites. I only see minor differences in their labels for parts of their site; e.g., they call Karma “Aura” and Discussions “Forums.” Can @Mark shed any light?

    I never connected with anyone on cuddle connect. Seemed like a bit of a ghost town at least for my area.

    I never connected with anyone from there either. I am sad for the families that are being impacted by this pandemic. 😔

    @nurturingman Yes, Cuddle Comfort existed long before Cuddle Connect.

    This is a relevant post from @Mark.

    I met with one person from that site (an enthusiast), but I did have mixed feelings about the owner's approach to things (having some fake profiles etc.)

    I never used that site. My favorite all time site was the Snuggle Buddies. A lot of people didn't like the owner but I never had any problems with him. I met many cuddlers from there in the years 2013 to about 2016 and liked just about all of them, including my favorite who moved out of the area. I still miss her.

    I am on the other cuddle site as well. Many of the same people but sadly little to no activity on my profile. I have also not met in new people on the other site for in person cuddles (that was not already on this site). The term ghost town is accurate for cuddle connect. I am happy to be apart of cuddle comfort, my experience has been much greater here. Also cuddle comfort is the first exclusively cuddle site, that I joined.

    The other site of the original post was much more sparsely populated but I did meet a few good cuddle buddies there! Sad for the families affected. Healing vibes to all who have been touched by this.

    Knowing the sordid history of the other site’s creation and promotion (plus @Mark’s graciousness about it), it does seem kind of dick that the admins advised bereft clientele to literally “google cuddling,” rather than linking them back here....

    I was on there for a little bit last year. Never met anyone. I guess everyone was so scared because there wasn't a vaccine yet or simply didn't wanna deal with cuddling while masked. At least one person I saw there has TWO profiles on here (yes, you read that right: the same person has TWO profiles on here). I messaged her there and she never replied. I guess she's not interested so I won't bother her here.

    CuddleConnect published a nice cuddle positions flash-cards-style app depicting cuddling positions, naming them differently than The Cuddle Sutra did. I saw some cuddling positions in the app that were not depicted in The Cuddle Sutra. I hope the app is still available as it is useful for richer clients who can afford multiple hours with a pro. It's also useful for non-pros who have plenty of each other's time to experiment with different positions.

    @snugbuddy I, too, started out hiring pros from the Snuggle Buddies in 2016. I met @AutumnLovesYa through them before she moved over here. My other two pros before her said they didn't get their pay after I prepaid for the sessions online. I would have gladly given more chances to the second pro I hired from Snuggle Buddies in December of 2016. She was such a great conversationalist and her roommates were pretty cool too. Snuggle Buddies appears to be outta business these days as their URL now has a GoDaddy parking page. So let's count them among COVID-19 casualties.

    @BellaSera yes I thought that too.

    @APV if you believe somebody has two profiles here then tell the mods. It's not necessarily a hanging offence but it is a breach of the TOS.
