Sharing an act of kindness 🌌

I just came across this on my feed & it lifted my spirits … a reminder that through it all, humanity & compassion exist.

It also reminded me of a time many years ago when I was very down on my luck… I went to the gas station to put $10 in the tank as I couldn’t afford more … there was someone else ahead of me, approached me before I could go inside & told me that whatever I planned on putting if I gave him the cash 💵 he would double it with his card … my first thought 💭 was that the card he was going to use was probably stolen & I should say no… I thought about it right away & figured what the heck, I don’t know that for sure & that would make a huge difference right now to get that extra $10.00 in the tank so I agreed …

As he was pumping the gas I noticed that he kept going on & didn’t stop at the $20.00 mark, I right away got his attention & let him know that he passed the mark … he looked at me & said its ok no worries , I didn’t know what to think … once I noticed that he passed the $35 dollar mark I voiced to him that he was being too generous & it’s ok he could stop, but again he told me no worries …. He ended up filling my tank just under $60.00, when I went to give him the $10.00 he refused & wouldn’t accept it for anything in this world… i told him to please give me 1 second, I went inside the c - store, bought a $10 dollar powerball ticket & gave it to him, & told him “I hope you win” … he replied thank you so much & went on his way…

To this day I have no idea why he acted so generous … I also don’t know if that ticket brought him any luck (Atleast the $10 back lol) & I have not repaid it forward with a stranger & now that I remember this story I sure will!

    Driving through some back roads in the country, I see fresh skid tracks leading to a van parked at a small church. Apparently some kids threw something on the road that popped one of the van’s tires. One of the passengers waved me down to warn me about the area of the road that it happened. I saw two elderly ladies bawling so hard they were shaking, another passenger trying to calm them down, and one other person that had pulled over already to help change the tire.

    I helped with the tire, and pulled my lunch out of my cooler and my water bottles for the elders. Then I asked anyone if a hug would help. The closest lady latched on like whip and cried some more; the other one made us all laugh when she joined, “Hey, I saw him first!”

    When they were taken care of, I said good luck for the rest of the day, and turned to leave. One of the passengers ran up and asked for my name and number so they could track me down for a proper thank you. My phone blocks unknown callers, so I don’t even know if they tried to get in touch 😅

    @ZacRedBear you imagine they been trying to reach you for years but the phone settings won’t allow it 😅😅 that was really nice of you most people wouldn’t want to bother & keep going, thanks for sharing!

    Here’s mine!
    My father would buy blankets in bulk, stuff them in the car & take us kids driving through town during the wee hours in December just before Christmas (this is back home)

    We would each be given a blanket, one at a time and go and drape it across the sleeping homeless folks. He watched every move we made and was with us every step. No it was not scary.
    Doing this brought immense joy and filled my heart with warm fuzzy feelings!

    My dad was known around town as the one who would literally take the shirt off his back and give it to you, if he had nothing on him (he did that a few times lol)
    We do a lot with the homeless folks here in Memphis as well.
    I guess I get my innate burning need to help people from him💖 no matter what kind of trouble they are in or whatever they need, if it’s in my capacity I WILL help them.
    I do not do it with any ulterior motive or expect anything in return. I only hope that they find it in their hearts to pay it forward to the next person in need they come across.
