Fishy Profile: Anybody else experienced this?

A guy messaged me talking about wanting to get to know me and about my disability.

His profiled lists his location as Toronto, Ontario Canada and says he joined on July, 2021.

However, it is 11:22 PM now and the date is June, 30th in Toronto, Canada. Even his username and something else are a bit fishy to me and I've been dealing with a guy who kept creating a new account to contact me. So my guard is a little higher than usual.

Now I think this could go two ways:

The site may have glitched.
Or more probable to me, a user pretending to be in Toronto, Canada and fishing for info.

Having tested, I saw how easy it is to change one's location. Though not the joined date, eh?

    Joined date: July, 2021.

    Date sent message: June, 30th, * 2021.

    Hotel: Trivago.

    I really hope this is some innocent mismatch and not some ulterior motives. Argh.

    Hug

  • I would just ignore him as he wasn’t a first good impression for you to begin with … if he messages you again after clearly not responding to his first message than block.

  • For a little while I worked on programming a time-sensitive system that used a few different time measurements. Basically time is weird when you have different users across different timezones.

    I would guess that this site measures time objectively, and only displays it subjective to the user. So time is always GMT or whatever, then moved around depending on the user local time.

    But the fact that you were looking at a user from your subjective future means that either there is some rounding involved OR the user joined date is stored as a static value and doesn't change, and the user joined in a different timezone.

    So I guess I'm saying it's more likely that the user changed their timezone than the site uses rounding...

    Be safe.

    Reads like a fetishist to me. I could absolutely be wrong and am aknowledging that, but asking about ones disability and wanting to know more about it in your opening line just rubs me wrong. If this was me and I was unsure I'd say

    I'm not comfortable disclosing information concerning my disability at this time but am open to discussing a possible future session.

    This gives you time to screen him more thoroughly before writing him off completely. Doesn't hurt to ask the mods if they can track his IP to determine if it is the same guy who has been pestering you. Not entirely sure if this is possible maybe one will chime in.

    I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Hope I'm wrong and this is just an innocent glitch.

    The use of hyphens would scare me immediately.

  • @Lovelight - with the date/time I think that what @Big_Chris said could very well be true (being set to GMT) since the site creator is in the UK.

    And I agree with @Saysoh,"a-lot" in the same sentence as, "well read." Is a flag. Especially when claiming, "honesty". A well read person has presumably read 'a lot' of books and therefore would know there isn't a hyphen. The other flag is the claim of "humility". Do truly humble people claim to be... ? 🤔

    More seriously though, I think @Envie nailed it!

  • I would ignore any message that starts with 'Hey'.

  • I would ignore any message that starts with 'Hey'.

    So you have never listened to the Beatles “Hey Jude” then?

    @Lovelight, I'm so sorry that you've been dealing with creepers lately!

    I agree with @Envie above--that note gives off some strong fetish vibes. As a person who also has a physical disability, this is exactly why I don't mention it in my profile. Don't get me wrong, I always disclose and explain my disability in DM prior to meeting up with another cuddler and I'm always happy to answer any questions, but I'm not interested in people who only want to meet me because of my disability.

    I have reached out and spoken with a few so-called "devotees" (self-described disability fetishists) out of curiosity and a desire for empathy/understanding, but ultimately in spite of meeting some genuinely nice people, the whole scene just gives me the willies.

    I totally understand the impulse to mention your disability and your stature in your profile to circumvent the need for the "reveal" later on, but it may prove to attract people who see you as a fantasy before they see you as a person. I'm not saying you should change it, but just standing in solidarity with you--sometimes people suck. Please feel free to reach out if you ever need to vent or problem-solve.

  • He definitely sounds like someone to avoid.

  • I’m in the Toronto area so I know who you’re talking about. I won’t disclose his username but that’s sketchy to me too. Kind of creepy and demanding…

  • Thanks for your helpful feedback everyone. As far as I know now, I am gonna err on the side of caution.

    @Envie , et al:

    Devotee or not, I think quite a bit of people want to know about one's (visible) disability yesterday. So much so that I find people who refrain from at least jumping straight into it refreshing. I tolerate the former depending on if they greet, mention other things, etc. I then explain/don't in accordance to my comfort and what I deem relevant in the moment.

    @Big_Chris chris

    Interesting idea that he may have created the account in a different time zone. I hope it is something innocuous like that and good luck to him if it is.

    @Sheena123 right?.

    @BellaSera Thank you, same to you. :)

  • @Lovelight listen to your gut! Sending you & everyone out there dealing with creeps a tight hug!
    If it feels like a red flag it is a red flag.

  • @Lovelight right back at ya🤗
