For any cuddlers who are religious or spiritual, what are your thoughts on cuddling?
I like to think of it as an extension of my energy healing.
As a Christian, I love cuddling! It's a pure and innocent way of connecting with someone, and giving and receiving touch. I was hesitant at first but if both parties "get it" and respect boundaries, it fits in perfectly with my values.
There's a book called The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman who is a Christian. The original book was aimed at married couples, but it was extended in other books to other groups like teenagers etc.
@respectful I heard of the Five Love Languages and my top one is actually Words of Affirmation 😊 Thanks for answering!
@BeccaBlevins Words of affirmation are pretty high up for me as well. That goes pretty well with cuddling too actually, since an embrace provides a great environment for talking.
Do you have an answer for your question, or are you still checking the whole thing out?
Love ♥️ 🌌
@respectful I was able to get some insight, thanks!
@BeccaBlevins I meant, do you have an answer to your own question ... any thoughts on cuddling so far?
@respectful It was an enjoyable experience for me and at the time, I was completely tranquil fine. But I wonder if it might become too much for me?
@BeccaBlevins Are you concerned about becoming emotionally attached to people you cuddle?
One thing that helps is having clear boundaries -- both people being on the same page about having a platonic cuddling relationship.
It also helps to distinguish between emotional connection and romantic connection.
I can feel affectionate, emotional, and platonic bonds with someone that have nothing to do with romance or sexuality.
Cuddling is one of our species expression of primate bonding, a form of grooming and socialization.
Feeling affectionate, emotional, and connected with someone you are cuddling with/have cuddled with is basically hard-wired in.
...Dang, my wiring's busted.
@DarrenWalker
Sorry to hear that.
@CharlesThePoet: Well, it means I can cuddle anybody without worrying about getting attached. So there's that, I guess.
I seem to have a variation of that problem, on the other side of the bell curve.
I became attached very quickly, and protectively.
Which is one of the reasons that professionals aren’t something that works for me, and I am very careful to get to know the people I become affectionate with.
@DarrenWalker Don't worry, you're not alone! I enjoy cuddling too, but have never felt closer to someone after cuddling them. It makes sense to me why other people/mammals/etc would experience more closeness after cuddling, but I don't personally experience it.
That does actually make me feel better. Thanks, @squeakytoy.
