Pets Incorporated Into Cuddle

I have a VERY loving and affectionate dog. I am trying to think of ways to add her into my service. I know dog walking isnt a cuddle but some people genuinely find it therapeutic for them (and the dog 🤩) or just plane old dog cuddles.

My dog is a pitbull so they have a bad reputation but she absolutely loves people and everytime she meets a new person i sweae shes extra happy the whole rest of the day! She is amazing in car rides! Shes just very amazing and my ex stole ny dog when i left her and i swear it had me cry randomly even thinking about dog cuddles.

And i know not everyone can have a dog so im sure the option to cuddle someones dog (by choice of course) would be its own kind of therapy!

As of now i crate her and let the person decide in person if they want me to allow her out or keep her crated. Nobody has told me not to let her out 🤣🤣

but on the issues of allergy and pet hair i use all brand new bedding everytime someone comes over and i sweep really well and crate her in the bedroom (i have a specific cuddle area in my house. My livingroom basically) haha so before anyone says no bc of allergies i for sure understand that and ho the extra mile to ensure it isnt an issue (i clean my steps regularly heat mop, carpet scrub, scrub walls regularly, replace all bedding regularly and i do most of this regular but some stuff legit right before someone comes over so if shes put away she wont even linger around so that it stays extra clean haha

My point is how can i specifically offer sessions with her! Or do u havw any ifeas? I dont trust dog parks bc idk if people vet their dog and ive seen parvo first hand and im just not willing to risk it and dog parks are a breeding ground for all bad things (not always but u never know)

But dog walking is okay! Or maybe bring her to a fenced yard and play. Or even just allow her to cuddle in the bed.

What do yall think?

    Cute dog. I don’t quite get what you are trying to do exactly. As someone who would pay for your cuddle service, are charging prospective clients to walk your dog? Play with your dog? Cuddle your dog? Play with your dog? That just seems silly and beyond the point of a cuddle service.

    No lmaoooo i wouldnt charge for the dog im asking what kind of extra options could i do. Like cuddle me and the dog with a 10 min dog walk at the end or something. The dog would never be in place of me nor would rates go up hahahah i just wanna incorporate her somehow! With options of course

    A couple suggestions though, if you're really wanting to offer incorporating a dog into your cuddle service... To consider the potential liability that could bring (worse case) and to talk with an attorney to ensure you have appropriate waivers and insurance and what not for your area too.

    Im in the orocess of getting self employment isurance and one of the things we literally discussed yesterday was to make sure to have wet floor signs and caution on the steps and dog essentially. So basically disclaimwes all over my house that ciukd potentially cause a miserable bank situation and i have been self employed gounf on 7 years n not ONCE have i thought of these things!

    This kund if off topics i know yall probably lot laywers hahaha but do u think a landlord is allowed to raise rent if they finf out you work from home? Someone told me this years ago bc her mom gad a salon out of her house n they raised the rent BECAUSE of that. This was years ago n im sure a full time business salon does have extra liabilities and utilities usage but idk if cuddles counts or if its something you HAVE to tell the landlord bc i told my neighbor n she ifnored me n i get paranoid of her and i told her so she wasnt like yo why are thede men coning for an hour n leaving 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    It's a good idea and definitely worth exploring. Some people would love that.

    How does it work at the moment, when you let the dog out after asking the client?

    Remember that if you do this a lot it may become emotionally demanding for the dog. Therapy dogs get emotionally exhausted if they are not given proper breaks and support.

    I wouldn’t do it. Dogs are unpredictable. What are you going to do if your dog bites someone? You don’t think that’s possible? Think again. More than 4.5 MILLION Americans are bitten by dogs every year and most of those are bitten by their own family dog. I know a woman who ended up having to have surgery for torn tendons when her German Shepherd, who she’d had for years and never bit anyone, bit her hand and wouldn’t let go. I’ve been bitten twice in my life by dogs whose owners insisted they didn’t bite and refused to keep them on a leash.

    Therapy dogs go through training with their owners and many dogs are rejected because they don’t pass the training.

    @Babichev yes I agree! An ex gf dog bit me in the face and I had to get stitches in my nose. The dog loved me and was super sweet , but she saw us wrestling around and got defensive . I could see that happening in a cuddle situation for sure

    No doubt! My pupper loves the scritches and cuddles... when it's done to her. The moment I start getting the attention though... She lays there low growling and watching, ready to pounce! Luckily she's only 11 pounds and it usually only takes piling covers or plopping a pillow on her to shut her up. Other times she has to be banished from the bed.

    Thankfully, my cuddle buddy knows we're a package deal so he tolerates her existence. And even though he's said if I were to die, "that damn dog is going in with you" I've seen him loving on her countless times a day, and he often spoils her rotten, and she constantly snuggles up to him and looks at him with those super sweet, "You're the bestest ever!!" eyes, she still - six months in!! - she still growls when I'm getting the attention. Damn dog indeed!

    Even if she were hella chill about it, I wouldn't allow her to be part of random cuddle sessions. Dogs are just too unpredictable and can get triggered from the most innocuous of actions. And a dog too big to throw if needed, that's a major no way!

    @CutieKat14 - check your lease. Most standard residential leases forbid you from running a business out of your home. If your landlord finds out you are seeing clients out of your rental unit, they could terminate your lease. You should also check whether it is legal within your municipality. Sometimes neighbors find out, don’t like it, turn you in.

    It’s one thing to work from home i.e. sit at your computer and do a job like that from home. It’s quite another to be seeing clients. That’s running a business. That could have implications for the landlord and other tenants.
