Booster Shot or Not

I can take my booster shot in November. I will be taking my 2nd shot, will you take yours when the time comes up?

  • It's a tricky question for me. In the UK we haven't quite decided who is to get boosters, but I will probably qualify being over fifty. I'm not otherwise at risk in any way, and I can't help feeling that my booster dose would be better used by being given to somebody who hasn't had one at all. (I've had my pair.)

  • As a nurse and a single mom, yes I will be taking that booster ASAP.

  • September 1 everyone in the US is eligible. I already have my appointment once I get back from my business trip that week. My third shot.

    Yes, of course.

  • No offense meant directly to @MayFlowers, but sometime when I see these topics posted in the discussion forum here (especially since they are posted nearly every week), I wonder sometimes which of these two purposes are the main reason that these question topics are being posted here:

    1) To find out people’s reasoning on why they are excited to get or hesitant to get vaccine and pharmaceutical-related medicines and to learn from others.

    Or

    2) For OP (and others reading here) to find out which cuddlers are pro-vaccine and pro-pharmaceutical companies or which other cuddlers are anti-pharmaceutical and skeptical of pharmaceuticals, which allows
cuddlers to put people in to “categories” of ‘desirables’ or ‘safe people’ vs. ‘un-desirables’ or ‘unsafe people.’

    *(Perhaps it’s for both reasons.)

  • @NicoSnuggs You can over analyze any of these threads in that manner. I sometimes think of some threads as “are they genuine or are they really trying to see if people will respond to something this stupid?” Then there are the countless threads of people announcing their arrival on CC to which I wonder if they are feeding a runaway ego or are they that needy.

  • @FunCartel - Excellent points;
And I do agree with you, there are a number on this site (not anyone on this thread in particular) who are here for the attention and to stoke their egos, and not here for actual cuddling, which is the primary purpose of this site.

  • I will be taking what the CDC recommends for me, they are the world's experts.

    All-caps yes!!!

  • If data says I would benefit from it then yes, if it doesn't I won't. We will just have to see how people's immune response does long term.

  • No to many people that I know got the shot and still got COVID

  • My middle adult son is a high school teacher and got vaccinated in January. A month ago while helping at the high school band camp contacted the delta variant. He’s ok fortunately. Just mild cold symptoms. They did cancel the rest of the camp though.

  • @ZenChrissy I am glad you got the vaccine. You can still get Covid after getting the vaccine but you will most likely not go to the hospital or die—those two outcomes are proudly being handled by the unvaccinated. I know of two people who got it after being vaccinated and one didn’t know he had it. Meanwhile an unvaccinated acquaintance wound up in the hospital recently and thought he was going to die and felt like every breath was such a chore that he was convinced with each one that it might be his last. His response to all this ? “I guess I should have got the vaccine, but I wanted more information.” He finally received that information from the University of Hard Knocks Research Center.

I'd personally rather get a booster focused on the delta variant (or whatever is the new variant at the time). But if the data suggests you need a booster, I'll get the booster. I got my first shot in December, and have been exposed dozens of times since, so I probably get a booster a couple times a month in my job.

@FunCartel I love folks who attended the School of Hard Knocks at Zuckerberg University. They really remind me that my brain cells are precious. Imagine being related to such meatheads. Big ol' guv-ment fearing oilfield husbands and wives.

  • I have mixed feelings about this. My state of Missouri was #1 for new COVID cases, there’s a lot of vaccine resistance here. For my own protection - I’m 68 and have a compromised respiratory system - I will get a third shot if it becomes available. However, I also think it’s more important to get others fully vaccinated first and if my getting a shot means depriving someone else, I would wait. I doubt that will be the case, though, since many towns in my state have had more vaccine available than people getting the shots.

I know there are countries where the vaccine is hardly available and that needs to be taken care of first. Unfortunately, I doubt my not getting it will have much of an impact on that. That’s a matter of distribution at a higher level, not my local level.

  • Yes, I like my life and I want to live through this pandemic. I had no reaction to the first two Pfizer doses. I want to protect myself and the lives of others. I don’t want to be part of the unvaccinated group that help to create the variants.

  • I think it is beyond the pale that there are people in here mocking, enjoying or reviling in the fact that someone got the virus and really struggled with it.
I mean people have even yelled at for small things but someone who was hesitant to get the shot? Wow? Just wow, much much compassion from some of you folks

  • @supadupa You didn’t know the guy I did. He had all the information he needed for months and never went to get it. On top of that he has kids and his wife and kids had to be quarantined. He had no compassion for others he might give it to in spite of everyone around him getting the vaccine and knowing the Delta variant is much easier to get. Moreover, if you must know, he couldn’t tell any of us how much information he needed to make a decision in spite of being informed that vaccine side effects take place within six weeks and the chances of dying from Covid are overwhelmingly more likely than ever dying from a vaccine. The technology for the vaccines is thirty years old but he still believes it was developed in months. He was told by everyone how horrible getting it was, and he repeatedly said that it wasn’t any worse than the flu.

If you choose to put others at risk, deny the science and reject the seriousness of the situation then no, I have little compassion for you. I save my compassion for his kids who have very little choice in the matter. His hesitancy is a smokescreen. He still won’t get the vaccine, and now he refuses to wear the mask because he has “antibodies”. He only cares about himself and being right no matter the evidence to the contrary.

It is not beyond the pale to mock someone who is a voluntary public health pariah. My respect goes to those who get the vaccine, who are on the front lines, and who are brave enough to look at the facts and do what was right despite their initial beliefs or hesitancy.

The unvaccinated are driving the survival of Covid. It is not a small thing as you opined.

  • I'm definitely getting a booster when it's available.
Even though just the other day a pro cuddler on here told me she won't get the covid vaccine and also rejects clients who had the covid vaccine. Apparently she prefers cuddling with unvaccinated clients.
Makes me sad that she's traveling between states to cuddle with people. Reckless behavior like that can spread the variants more.
I feel like this site should require pro cuddlers to be vaccinated.

@supadupa why should I have compassion for somebody who deliberatly tried to kill my parents?

I have enormous compassion for people who have complex circumstances and struggle with what to do about vaccination. I have enormous sympathy for those who have suffered. But if somebody deliberatly and consciously seeks to be infected, why should I be sympathic when their wish comes true?

    @Melancholy

I feel like this site should require pro cuddlers to be vaccinated.

I know what you mean, but it's very unlikely to happen. CC is a social networking site, acting within the law. If the law allows unvaccinated people to meet, CC isn't going to intervene.

However, the site does not permit vaccine disinformation. If you see a profile which makes statements about covid which are not true, Report it.

I agree with @supadupa as if none of you have ever got caught up in something you thought was right and was clearly wrong. Making it a divisive us/them is what's continuing everyone's pride on the matter. It's really sad to watch.

  • @Sashamcgee my sympathies are with the people who died: not those who killed them.

  • edited August 2021

@Sashamcgee Sorry, but if they can’t set aside their pride to save lives then they really haven’t grown up. People’s lives>individual pride. By their own choice they made it me vs. the greater good.

@CuddleDuncan your statement about reporting someone or being a snitch
If you lived in east Berlin when the wall was up you would have worked for the Stasi no doubt.
Mao Tse Dong and The Kim’s of North Korea also said if you see anyone speaking out against the government you should report them.
And it seems like you say if someone is unvaccinated ether are trying to kill you. No they are not!
You have a strange way of seeing the world .
And think it’s all about you.
By laughing at a person like funcartel’s acquaintance it victim blaming.
Let’s say if a guy says he doesn’t believe a neighborhood is dangerous and wouldnt be robbed, he walks around with his iPhone and gets robbed and beaten and ends up in a hospital you’re saying tough luck sucker
    Or this
    1. One girl always takes precautions and aware of surroundings but one day walking in a neighborhood still gets assaulted versus
    2. 2. A girl who never is aware of her surroundings never takes precautions and waking in the same neighborhood gets assaulted. So you’re saying you only have sympathy for girl number one because she wa careful?
    3. Shouldn’t we have sympathy and care for both? Both had the same outcome but one was careful and the other careless?

Reported, reviewed, and leaving as is. Note, @supadupa - that @CuddleDuncan's statement about posting disinformation IS correct. Your correlation and conflation of the site's TOS, governmental controls, and victim blaming are not warranted nor accurate nor relevant to COVID/vaccinations. @FunCartel 's story reflects his personal experience - and it is 100% aligned with science. Unvaccinated are the petri dishes for future COVID variants. @supadupa - you're welcome to your opinion, but kindly stay off the COVID and vaccination threads, thanks. [-Sid]

@supadupa this is a community. The community polices itself. We have Terms of Service that everybody agreed to when they joined: if you don't want to follow them, just go away and form your own community. If you break them inadvertently, no problem: just fix it. If you break them wantonly, then goodbye.

The moderators who carry out whatever actions need to be carried out are volunteers, they are just ordinary members of the community.

I don't follow your analogies: the victims here are the people who are dead. In your crime scenarios the Acquaintance is the perpetrator.

  • I got the shot, but still get called "selfish" for going to a concert. If they are still that bad, why are they allowed to happen? Last year, everything was shut down.
