Fears

What is something you’ve always wanted to do but scared to try

Comments

  • I will have to think on that one. I just hope no one says homicide.

  • I would say the hot air balloon 🎈 experience. I’m not afraid of heights just stuck in a basket floating thousand feet in air and at mercy of air direction 🤷‍♂️ …. Now if there’s alcohol in the picnic basket 🧺 might help some 😂

  • @OhioMike That was a dream that I had for years! For me, it was finances that held me back. When I did finally go, I was able to invite my daughter to join me as a celebration of her 21st birthday.

I found it to be like sailing, but in three dimensions, and I'd definitely do it again. 🙂

  • The running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Always wanted to do the Hemingway test your courage deal. I just don’t trust my foot speed anymore, so the courage part takes a dent as a result.

  • Nothing. Being scared to try is an extra reason for doing it, not a reason for avoiding it.

  • I want to be more self sufficient and independent during my hikes and travels. I want/need to take a self defense class before doing more traveling so I’m more confident by myself.

Fear of failure (I hate failing at things) and getting attached. I have walls up for a reason

I like to write. Sometimes just my observations on life in general.

My friends that read my writing say I have insight and talent and can bring the reader into the story like no other.

I just am not really good on spelling or punctuation and structure at times. That and to become a well-known writer opens you up for criticism and hate. Especially if you write about your observations personal experience on divisive issues I don't think my soul could take that.

  • I write and often on subjects of controversy in my profession. Yes, it opens one to a lot of vitriol but I’m unaffected by it because I know those folks don’t know what they are talking about. I don’t take it personally. I understand that what they are really expressing is their pain and fear at having their cherished beliefs challenged. On the other hand, I’m also gratified to know that the information I provide has helped a lot of people, particularly in the area of pain management. I get to help alleviate a little human suffering far beyond the reaches of my own small world.

  • Going on a helicopter but I will be attempting this soon.

I’ve been in a few helo rides. They’re fun!

  • There's nothing I want to try that I am afraid to try. The things I'm afraid of are things I'm definitely NOT going to do. Like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.

  • Sky diving! I would love to do it but don’t enjoy flying lol.

  • @Sassyjo My love of flying is the reason I give for not skydiving: why would I cut a flight short by leaving an airplane that's in the air? 😏🤔😀

@Babichev my writing has a lot to do with surviving narcissistic abuse and Reproductive Rights. Both tend to really push some buttons with individuals who refuse to think outside their own narrow Lane in life. I can see what you write about being controversial as well.

  • I’d love to cliff dive but (putting my fear of heights aside,) so much can go wrong from broken bones, paralyzation, death!

Well, I did that earlier this year. I had never traveled outside the US, but I have a client in Tanzania, Africa, and I had the opportunity to visit them. I spent 2.5 weeks in Africa (and traveling) and traveled alone. Go big or go home, right?!? It was magical and wonderful and all the things. I met my sponsored children and spent two days on safari which was incredible.

    Next up.... a tattoo! :)

  • @OhioMike I am with you about the hot air ballon, have considered but not tried it yet. @midnightowl Yes!!! I love my freedom and independence of being single (not married but also not alone lol 😂🤣)and not having to think for two or more people. @Julie33 Awesome trip! Thank you very much for sharing the pictures. I am so happy that you overcame fears for a great trip! 🦒
