Poll - Interest and Location of CoVid and Vaccine-Related Posts

To be clear, this is poll is not for or against vaccine or CoVid-related or variant posts, this is just to get an idea of how people feel about those posts, if they like and prefer them, or if they do not like them and would prefer they not be main focuses of our cuddle discussions here, or if they prefer the posts to have their own section on the website.

CoVid and vaccines are very important, yet also very sensitive subjects.

And also, this is not to dissuade (nor discourage) anyone from posting about things which they feel are relevant to the cuddle community in regards to CoVid, but to get an idea of how the community overall feels about these topics and their location.

I think it would be appropriate to get a wider (anonymous) view of how those who frequent these discussion board posts feel about CoVid and Vaccine-related posts.

And Mods/Admins, if you personally feel that this poll is inappropriate to post and ask about on the discussion forum board, please let me know and we can have this poll removed if you so decide.

    You can receive Covid and vaccine related information in a million other places and it is easy to find for anyone with access to an internet browser.

    It would be nice to have a few places online to get a break from it and it seems that a cuddle-related website might be the PERFECT place to get a break from Covid information. At this point, everyone should know the risks and everyone should know what to do and what not to do and should decide for themselves how to go about their lives.

    Twitter, Facebook, Reddit are all great places to post and receive Covid info.

    Covid is central to my experience of cuddling. Cuddling has been central to my experience of covid.

    The best cuddling agency in the world was killed by covid. The best cuddler I've ever met was kicked out of cuddling by covid.

    Talking about cuddling without talking about covid is akin to, "But other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?"

    I can see where it is relevant to discuss since it impacts cuddling as well as other social interactions. Plus it is such a large part of the worldwide conversation it is hard to avoid . Then again I can also see why folks dont really want to hear or read about it here . If you dont want to see it you can simply not click on it, as I do with 90 percent of the forum that I am not interested in . On the other hand, I have yet to see a single covid related thread that doesn't disintegrate into a feces throwing war so admin may want to consider whether it is worth it . Bottom line is no matter what your thoughts are on the matter or how red faced and preachy you get, you are not an expert and shouldn't be listening to an interweb non expert shouting into the wind when it comes to something as important as covid related issues . Do your homework and seek out appropriate, non biased, scientific and medical information about it and if you want to discuss then discuss. But I'm not an expert so until I become one , dont believe what I have to say

    There is among other polls on these threads , one that simply asks what brought you here in the first place? If I recall correctly, wanting to cuddle was voted for most.

    We have no shortage of controversial topics today to discuss: Vaccines, climate change, health insurance, minimum wage, police reform, etc. We do NEED to discuss these issues. Is Cuddle Comfort the right vehicle to discuss these topics? IDK.

    I'm from Ohio and I've met people here from Michigan. I wouldn't bring up the college football rivalry before or during cuddling without there being hard feelings possibly:)

    Some profiles I come across here, the people are super honest about controversial topics and the people they are looking to cuddle. I sometimes don't fit what they are looking for. I suppose I could try to "win" them over. But really? is that what I want to do? I guess I look for the things we agree on more than the opposite. :)

    Initially there was something that I found off putting about such discussions, not cuddle comfort exclusive. Though in general was some people being judgemental and harsh towards people who are unvaccinated or talking like know-it-all just cause they come from for vaccine stance. And vice versa.

    Though I've learned to either try to address whatever I can. I would also ignore what to me seems provocative. Or take whatever other appropriate action I deem fit. Though I find the civil discussions that were and are being had good to have. I don't think it needs to have a dedicated space of its own.

    Also please call it COVID-19 since there there may be a COVID-21 or COVID-22 etc someday.

    I get my Covid information from reliable and authoritative sources both in the US and overseas, so I rarely read or contribute to any discussions here.

    "Other" ~ I wish the Covid threads stayed active (wouldn't get closed).

    If people want to "out" themselves as being part of a misinformed Covid conspiracy cult, or subject themselves to public ridicule for their opinions and falsehoods, so be it.

    I like the forums being a one-stop shop where I can eavesdrop and people watch or roll my eyes and comment into the wind...

    Good times.

    @Melancholy the C and V are capitalized because it's short for Co(rona) Vi(rus) d(isease).

    When it comes to naming new things, it often takes a while to agree on the "official" name, so Corona, COVID, CoVid, Covid-19, SARS-CoV-2, and "the 'rona" will probably bounce around for a while.

    Language is fun for word nerds like me, and I find it interesting to see the process playing out in real time.

    'CoVid' doesn't make sense. If you are going to do that then surely it should be 'CoViD'.

    I'm not in favour of the capitals, we should just treat it like an ordinary word, 'covid'. (Or covid-19 in appropriate contexts: we only have one at the moment so there is no need to be pedantic about the 19.) The capitals are a reflection of the etymology, which isn't necessary for everyday communication.

    @CharlesThePoet I can get into long conversations with people about whether dictionaries are descriptive or prescriptive, but that's tangential to this thread. Maybe another one sometime.

    My experience with cuddling and COVID-19 has been similar to @CuddleDuncan ’s. As he so nicely put it, “Covid is central to my experience of cuddling. Cuddling has been central to my experience of covid.” I may disagree with his capitalization or lack thereof, but that’s a topic for another discussion— or, wait! I guess it’s the topic of this discussion! Or is it? I can’t keep up with the way discussion topics morph in this forum. Maybe we should have a discussion topic about keeping discussions on topic! 🤣

    Seriously, though, quarantining and physical distancing due to COVID increased the desire I already had to cuddle with others, and seeing the overworked medical staff burning out in hospitals and experiencing PTSD made me want to cuddle them! Yet, paradoxically, the fact that this pandemic is still raging means it’s still not safe to cuddle them. So I’m back to what @CuddleDuncan said. For that reason, I don’t mind having discussions here about how we respond to the pandemic in our pursuit of Cuddling.

    What I don’t want to see is misinformation and conspiracy theories.

    The CDC website shows it as COVID-19 - all caps. FYI. And my poll answer is no, I'm not interested.
