Cuddle Story Time in 100 words (or less)

edited September 2021 in General

We have some great writers and story-tellers on this site. We also have a ton of people who haven't dipped their toes in the forums yet and shared their tales and experiences. New people or veterans... let's crack those writing knuckles. Flex those mental muscles... Get ready to write a story in 100 words or less that includes the CONCEPT, but not the WORD "cuddle", "cuddles", or "cuddling".

Posting guidelines and reminder on this thread (since we have had prior writing threads not only go off the rails, but they burned our retinas):

  • Prose or narrative, please, not poems or poetry forms.
  • Multiple posts are allowed.
  • Adult content: no adult content of any type, including images or depictions.
  • Language: Please keep the use of offensive language to a minimum.

To recap: You. Yes, you. Write a less-than-100-words short story that includes the concept, but not "cuddl/e/s/ing".

I'll keep this thread open and stickied until 09/10/21 (next Friday).

Ready? Begin.

Joined a site I thought would help ease my loneliness, chatted to some great people, met some that I even thought understood. All went wrong, ended in heartbreak, several times over. Learned to not trust others, and especially not myself. Easier to be alone.

She came over after a few minutes of texting. We lived very close to eachother. I poured wine and we turned on music. She laid to the side of me and I heard her breath in my ear. My arm wrapped around her tight, her leg across my body. We shifted frequently, moving inch by inch to find the perfect position. Once perfection was achieved, we both relaxed and sighed. Cuddling truly works.

  • I spent 26 years trying too hard. Unseen, unheard, untouched. I wept as I wrote verses reflecting invisibility.

    It was almost over.

A new chapter: being seen. Being heard. Being touched.

Healing came from embraces that involved hearts as well as arms. I healed from pain and scorn and contempt. I experienced joy and honor and respect.

Healing tears, healing laughter, healing humanity. My next connection is on the calendar.

@Stephen33 you said the forbidden word.

  • We’d known each other for three years through online discussions and later some phone conversations. I was moving, he was visiting family. The day after I finished my move, he came to see me for the first time. I opened the door, greeted him, led him to the next room. We fell onto the bed, laughing. I buried my head in his chest, he put his arms around me. I sighed and relaxed into his comfortable embrace. “This is what has been missing in my life,” I said with the deepest gratitude.

Once an eternal night swept over the land and held my heart still, until the day she came over. She offered me her arms and kind eyes, then, wrapped me in the embrace of her crimson hoodie. Held me tighter then any human had before. Suddenly the sunrise came, and finally the night was swept away by the light...

  • She knew from the way he held his shoulders, but still asked, "Bad day?"

    He nodded.

“Wanna talk about it?” she asked. He shook his head.

She sat next to him. He wrapped his arm behind her neck and over her shoulder. She leaned into him and let time melt. His breaths slowed, lengthened, and she felt him inhale deeply and then sigh, letting it all out slowly. She felt his bicep squeeze her closer to him. She rested against the rhythmic thunder of his chest until he raised his arms, stretched, yawned.

    "Better?" she asked.

    His smile said everything.

  • @Sideon 💓🥰😍

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!!!

  • @Sideon i got all warm & fuzzy reading that🙏🏼🥰

  • His arms wrapped around me, we fell to the bed. Our limbs, create a delightful friction while becoming reacquainted.

We settle and sink into one another, our movements slowing. I can feel my pulse meshing with his and as his heat radiates through me the ceiling fan whirs above cooling my exposed skin.

I shift myself in closer, draping my leg over his, my head coming to rest on his shoulder as I run my fingers over his chest, his slowly caressing my back.

We remain fully embraced, drifting off together, until parting time comes round...

The sheets and pillowcases are freshly washed, unscented detergent, and run through the rinse cycle twice.

Crisp at the corners, cool and soft to the touch.

The blankets are turned back, a fan oscillating in the corner, and a rock salt lamp casts a glow throughout the room.

    Everything is clean and ready.

Except for her pillowcase. The one that I haven’t washed yet, not in four years.

The one that still smells like her.

The one I wrap my arms around each night, hoping to sleep.

  • They had talked many hours online and finally decided to give it a go. They met at the park, it was a beautiful day warm but the breeze was just enough. They held each other for the first time and yet it felt familiar and comfortable. So much so, that words didn't really have to be spoken, they were felt. It's amazing how much a simple touch or embrace can have so much power.

  • Side to side. My body rocked gently with the waves. A soft breeze caressed my face. A gentle hum soothed me through my bones. I was cozy under the blankets. My bed mate was 700 lbs of plastic explosive propelled by anaerobic fuel wrapped in a steel tube.

"OOoooOOOOOOgahh! OOOOooooOOOOOOgahh!!" The claxton pierced my ears.
"DIVE! DIVE" shouted the chief of the watch on the 1MC.
    "OOoooOOOOOOgahh! OOOOooooOOOOOOgahh!!" the claxton affirmed.

I woke enough to remember I'm on a submarine. The ballast tanks vents whirred as hydraulics opened them. Water rushed into the ballast tanks as the blood rushed to my head. I buried my face in my pillow and drifted off again. The smiles and hugs of my family warmed my heart from the inside out, a dream my lifeless bedmate could not share. I cannot be with you now, but I will hold you every night in my dreams.

  • @Stephen33 you really brought that to life! 🥂
