It's bleeding pizza blood! 😲

That is exactly the kind of randomness you can expect to see in this thread. What's something you've blurted out that sounds silly without the context? That in fact is your one rule. Don't give us the context! Just post it here.

You would hire a hit man to kill that face, when you had to wake that face up for grammar class.

  • @JoyfulHeart Were you in the textile industry?

  • @FunCartel No, I honestly don't know when or why I started saying it, but it's my substitute for "darn it", and it just pops out sometimes.

  • @JoyfulHeart They mainly use pinking shears to make fabric samples. When the samples are pinked, they tend to fray less.

  • Would you run that through me again?

  • @FunCartel My mom had a pair that she would use when making clothes. The mystery to me is at what point in my young life did I decide to use their name for such an odd purpose.

On a mostly unrelated note, they take their name from the verb "pink", which means to pierce or puncture. That sense was transferred to a flower that was called the "pink", presumably because of the jagged outer edge of their petals. The color name came from a common color of these flowers.

I can't resist the opportunity to tell an etymology story.
