  • Oops... @FunCartel
I was speaking to his original post... and hadn't read the second... But, yeah, I agree he probably should have omitted the part you quoted because it does come off as you said. Bummer too because this takes away from us all understanding one another better.

Assumptions and judgements ~ Eesh those are hard to notice, let alone keep to ourselves. And harder still to take the time needed to unpack them, examine where they came from and/or to ultimately ask for clarification towards gaining a true understanding.

  • @FunCartel But they have such well groomed man buns and beards!

I feel ya! I can't find anyone to cuddle here in Spokane. I was really hopeful at first, but anyone in my area hasn't logged in to the site in over a month, or just isn't making the jump to meet up and cuddle.

Will keep trying, though. Maybe someday. :)

  • There are so many porcupine people here; people have their needles out about needles! Cuddling is a physiological expression of psychological vulnerability, and that vulnerability demands boundaries in order to be protected. Some of those boundaries are defined by the terms of this site. Some people express their own boundaries, be they gender or age or location. So one person expresses one more boundary, and people go nuts over it.

"Unvaccinated" is hardly fringeworthy. I looked at the CDC website just before writing this, and only 66% of people are fully vaccinated.
Skepticism of media output is a valid position. People don't trust the media.
Skepticism of government output is a valid position. People don't trust the government.
Hesitancy based on religious beliefs is a valid position. Rev 18:23 " . . . for your merchants were the great ones of the earth, for by your drug sorcery all the nations were led astray." The greek used for "drug sorcery" is "pharmakia." So, forgive anyone who is hesitant and wants to be fully informed before they inject or intake anything into their body.

If you are vaccinated, and someone is not, then you are protected. Why be mean to them? You're just sticking your porcupine needles out. If you believe someone is deluded or stupid, why be mean to them? You're just sticking your porcupine needles out. It's unkind. And personally, I'd rather cuddle a kind person I disagree with than an unkind person.

  • @cookiecrumb It's skepticism of science, whose proponents use it towards their own unscrupulous ends, that fuels anti-vax propaganda. The major tragedy of Tuskegee Syphilis Study is that it left a crater of lasting distrust of government-led medical research among African Americans. They are relying on their distrust to guide them, rather than the pertinent data available. That's a tragedy resulting in thousands more deaths from Covid.

  • @cookiecrumb I think you don't know this but there is a valid reason for why those who get vaccinated are worried about the people who don't.
If the whole population got vaccinated we could wipe out covid.
But that won't happen because there are so many who won't get it.
The vaccine reduces the amount of viral load and virus spread in a population. In a group of unvaccinated people the virus has a much greater chance of spreading and mutating because the longer someone is sick with covid the more chance there is that a mutation will lead to a worse strain. If the virus mutates enough it will start to evade the vaccine. If it evades the vaccine then those of us who got vaccinated will be at risk all over again.
Now maybe you can understand why we are unhappy with the large number of unvaccinated. They can harm the rest of us in a very awful way. If a new strain emerges that can evade the vaccine then you better believe we will be very angry at those people.

  • @ImajenMoon I love your profile. You establish you're a Trump nut right off the bat! No sensible vaccinated people allowed. No surprises, no getting into the session and wondering why the conversation has steered to the great Jan 6 Patriots lol

  • @cookiecrumb ☝ So many 🦔✒ 😟

Oh, here we go again... :(
For the ones who pissily assume that my position is based on "fringe" knowledge, do you really even know WHAT I may have researched and discovered? No. I don't rely on MSM for my factual, well-researched ideas, thank you very much..

And my sovereignty over the health and well-being of my own physical body has NEVER been dictated by political views or leanings. Last time I address the THREAD DERAILING COMMENTS.
If you believe you've done the right thing, go along on your merry way! THE THREAD WASN'T POSTED AS A PLACE FOR YOU TO DISPLAY PISSINESS. I've acknowledged the very real possibility that my stance on vaxxing may well be the primary reason for my not getting cuddled. I GOT THAT. Damn...Let. It. Rest! Where's the fly-infested, x-eyed dead horse emoji when you need it? lol

For those that CAN remain on task, looks like I'ma have to up the ante! It appears $65 isn't enough!! lol
    Imajen
@Ezi~ here's hoping more people catch on to the joy of cuddling, soon, in your area! And it's great to hear that you're still hopeful!
@quixotic_life ~ I ALWAYS love when @cookiecrumb shows up! Thanks to you both! :)

  • I should just let this alone but it's amusing for me when you say it is impossible to know what you have researched. One has to ask if you have a degree in the sciences, understand the scientific method and have ever done any sort of applied research. Do you understand the concept of peer review? Those of us who have done PhD level immunology, for example, might not be as impressed with your level of research if it involves reading random articles and arriving at inane conclusions.
I do think if you're looking for someone to cuddle you would be better served to make a nice profile that doesn't exclude the more sensible of the population.

  • Okay, let’s keep religious texts, politics, and insults out of the conversation per forum guidelines. Any more and the thread will be shut down. Thanks. - Babichev

  • Is the purpose of this site to support each other's needs for close contact, or to be judgmental about political and medical positions?

  • Those things are not all that independent these days. 😁

@Cessna_guy , I cannot completely answer that question but I know this much:

    1) The site does not allow COVID misinformation. We are science-based in that regard and follow the guidelines of recognized experts in the field such as the CDC or the NHS. Members obviously have free will to make their own decisions about what they do and do not do in their personal lives but may not perpetuate claims that are counter to what we know through science.

    2) The site, from what I have witnessed, discourages discussions of politics and/or religion and requests that members keep that out of discussions, including quoting religious texts. I’m guessing that because those topics are divisive, they are discouraged. Our focus is on platonic cuddling and creating community around that.

The site encourages people to engage in cuddling in a manner that will keep them safe and healthy in both body and mind. That includes avoiding spreading infectious disease, taking measures to protect one’s safety, maintaining good boundaries, etc.

I’m speaking as another member of these forums who has been around for about 3 years, not in an official capacity because, being a relatively new moderator, I’m not always completely clear on where lines get drawn. Perhaps @Mark will see this and he could elaborate.

Bottom line: Everyone play nice. Don’t be a jerk. It’s okay to disagree but don’t be disagreeable. Remember that not everyone shares your politics, your religion or lack of it, or your point of view. We’re here to discuss and foster platonic cuddling and to create community around that.

  • @MariettaSnuggle ~ "One has to ask if you have a degree in the sciences, understand the scientific method and have ever done any sort of applied research. Do you understand the concept of peer review?"

No. One doesn't "have to ask". At this point you're baiting and trolling the opinion of another and you needn't be publicly shaming or rude to convey your point of view. All has been asked and answered, but if you want to sincerely get clarification, send a PM. And if you can't due to blocking, then you're circumventing a block by carrying on with your condescension, and though masking as questioning further qualifies as a bannable offense.

So, "Preach" if you want, but keep in mind that "Freedom of Speech" doesn't equal "Freedom from Consequence".

    And, YES!!
    I need a hug!! 🙇‍♀️ ~ huhmerp...!

  • You'd think this thread was a Starbucks with the excessive level of roasting taking place.

Thank you @ImajenMoon @SuperManCuddles @CuddlesByDeep @nurturingman @jaswbrown for the kind responses and for making this a safe place to share my experiences. I'm really looking forward to working with you @nurturingman and hope more people will begin feeling comfortable seeking out male pros.

@ImajenMoon I wish you and everyone else the best of luck with hiring any professionals they may want to connect with in order to get their cuddle on. So sorry this thread got dunked into a hot mug of condescension, more than once.

I don't agree with some of the OP's personal beliefs, and I'm sure if I talked to everyone on this website in depth I would find something if not multiple things that we wouldn't see eye to eye on, but that wasn't related to the topic of this thread and was totally unnecessary for me to speak on to appropriately answer the original post. If you don't want to cuddle with or speak to @ImajenMoon, I'm sure she's perfectly fine with that and announcing it on her thread isn't necessary.

Thanks @Babichev for trying to remind us to be civil and appropriate. I don't envy the moderators at all.

    Happy cuddles everyone. 🤗🤗🤗

@quixotic_life Perhaps he is trolling, you do not know. But when people present misinformation on vaccines and it is not removed by moderators (I do miss @Sideon) this is what you get. If you do not want the trolling (your opinion), then do not defend the misinformation. By attacking someone who is questioning the logic of misinformation you are defending the misinformation. Mark has made it clear—vaccine misinformation will not be tolerated. I expect this thread will soon be dead…thankfully.
