How can I respond to someone's comment without copy paste. Like others do like highlight what he/she writes then comment on it
Click on the paragraph button above the box in which you are writing the reply, then click on 'Quote'.

@CuddleDuncan But can you do that without copying and pasting? I've always copied, started a new paragraph with the greater-than symbol [>] followed by a space, and then pasted. I now notice there's a button for that, but I still have to copy and paste because all the paragraph button does is insert the greater-than symbol and space. I even tried copying your reply above and then clicking the paragraph button and selecting Quote. It didn't automatically paste anything.

Careful with the castigations, @CuddleDuncan . Communication is a tricky thing, full of cadence, intention, reception, tone, grammar, spelling, etc, and depends on both parties, not just one dictating an outcome.
It's ok, I meant my students, not on here! And don't worry, I do it nicely.
"Reading the question" is an astonishingly hard thing to do because it's not how human brains work. We're not really designed to be good at it.

Yeah .... If it can be done, I haven't figured out how. Like you, I did try.

@cookiefiend specific process i think. Just to make it easier when I quote what's someone writes then respond to it.
Ok cool. 1) Highlight the text you want to quote. 2) Right click and copy, or hit CTRL + C 3) Click the ¶ and select "Quote" 4) Right click your text box and paste, or hit CTRL + V 5) Hit "Enter" or "Return" on your keyboard 6) Freely type the comment you wish to make, and click "Post" when you are done.
I don't know if any easier way to do it. I hope this helps. Thank you to @CuddleDuncan for helping me figure it out.
Also, cookiefiend might be surprised to see him or herself tagged in a post in which they were not participatory.

On an Android phone...
Choose any word within the text you're wanting to copy.
Press/hold your finger on the word, or triple tap the word, to see it highlighted with little dots on either side.
Drag each dot to either side, &/or up and down, until you've highlighted all the text you want to quote.
Click the word "Copy"
Now tap inside the 'comment box', so you have a flashing cursor bar...
... press/hold your finger in one spot in the comments box, or triple tap, and select "Paste"
Add the 'greater than' symbol, the users name and quotation marks...
Example: Which will look like...
@quixotic_life "highlighted with little dots on either side."
Then type your words/comments & post it.
Note: Anything after the '>' will be indented. If there's another paragraph you're quoting, add another '>' in front of it too.

Quotes are used to recap what someone else said so there is context when writing a reply. If you don't quote someone and they later edit their post or it gets deleted by moderators, your reply may not make sense.
As for Spoilers...
Speaking of days past and what spoilers are, I actually forgot about a post I did with a heavy emphasis on spoilers. It has long since been buried but it could still be an entertaining read. Since spoilers were used, you can still figure out the puzzles before seeing the answers.
