Christmas

What is everyone looking forward to most when it comes to the holidays?? 🎄

Anything is particular you’re hoping to get as a present?? 🎁

I absolutely love decorating the house and tree!! My parents come over and we do it together while listening to Christmas music. I super miss having a real tree though- one of my favorite memories about childhood christmases.

I’m hoping to get some new cozy blankets for lounging.

Xoxo kellie ❤️🤟🏼

@DimpleGirl agreed! The family aspect is less of an importance today, everyone just wants gifts!!

@ItsKellie - that's true, some people do just want gifts! I enjoy the family part though. I love giving, too. 🤗🎁

  • I adore the holidays and being festive 😌
Set up my tree already! And had “Mickeys once upon a Christmas” on in the background 🥰 I still need to decorate it, & already got a few early Christmas gifts for friends throughout the year so I still gotta do some wrapping 😍
I’m pretty excited about hot chocolate late nights and rainy days, really hoping California gets some rain soon.
As far as what I’m hoping to get, I really don’t want anything other than a dog, I’ve been keeping an eye out at shelters for the past few months, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to find a shelter pup that I connect with by then, but it would make my Christmas complete to have a fur baby to spend the holidays with so I’m hoping for the best!

I’m more of a gift giver though so I’m really just excited to give to friends and family and get that quality time in with the Christmas vibes around, and maybe having a cookie bake off with a few close friends ☺️

@Brandi im trying so hard to refrain from putting my tree up this early and cheat on thanksgiving lol but I understand!!! It’s so happy.

Good luck on your adoption!!! Don’t rush the right dog will pick you and vice versa. Rescue dogs can be the best of friends and some take a little more patience than others. The best thing to do is be open and honest with the staff about what you’re looking for or not looking for. They will be able to help guide you in picking. I sure hope you find one for the holidays!!! 🎄

  • I adopted the holiday last year and will decorate this year. The commercial aspect - not as much. I decided to do this year as I did last year - to commit to buy nothing except groceries, gas and essentials starting Thanksgiving day till Jan 1. I'll attach a meme I found circulating earlier today - it expresses my thoughts exactly!

I don't ask for gifts (there is nothing tangible that I need), but I enjoy shopping for my daughter. She is what makes my holiday. This year we are going to a Christmas ghost tour early in December and a Christmas by Candlelight event at a colonial village the weekend before the holiday.

  • I reapply love being able to spoil my friends with things that I know they would love. I love wrapping presents and giving them to their recipients!

  • Before I say how I feel about Christmas, let me be clear. I fully encourage anyone that loves Christmas to embrace it and cherish it. If it does your soul good then make haste with the celebration because happiness should never be put on the back burner once you feel it.

However, Christmas to me is a time of toxic positivity. To those that don’t know, toxic positivity is real and I am not so much applying the concept to people as I am the whole atmosphere of Christmas that permeates everything this time of year. This is very personal as perhaps my most vulnerable moment in front of strangers occurred during Christmas because of a tragedy, and well, I have never recovered from it, nor do I think I want to because I want to remember things and not forget.

So I look forward to Christmas for the memories it rekindles but those same memories kill my spirit during the holidays. I don’t hate anyone for it; quite the contrary, I hate myself for not having the strength to let go. But I do not want to let go and so it becomes a vicious but healing cycle. My feelings are f Christmas. I get it…Scrooge you may think but that is not the case as I shower gifts on loved ones but I become decidedly more reclusive.

I truly wish everyone Happy Holidays and sorry for the downer, but I would be lying if I said I love the Holidays. I know I am not the only one, and if you lose someone without warning, without a good bye, and without so much as a sight of them because it is too gruesome then the Holidays are anathema.
