Blocking

Hopefully the right people will see this post.

It's very easy to press a block button without considering the effect it may have on the receiving party. When conversing with someone on a website like this, it would be considerate to take the other person's feelings into consideration before making the decision to block them without any warning , especially if the person on the receiving end did nothing whatsoever to violate the rules listed. For whatever reason there are some people that get a sense of gratification or perhaps even a sense of control by blocking with no warning.

If you make the decision to initiate conversation with someone and the person makes it clear they are new to the site and/or have anxiety, be patient with them. Unless that person did something offensive like send a nude photo or use abusive language, it would be decent common courtesy to let the person know you no longer want to continue the conversation before blocking them.

A lot of people have experienced abuse in many different forms. Being blocked with no warning and no explanation can cause further emotional damage to people who have already had past negative experiences.

We can't do nothing, this is life, many people don't care about other people's feelings . Some enjoy to hurt other people feelings. Arrogant people do the block. I feel hurted if someone block me☝️ the thing helps me to get over it i believe life is temporary and test to keep me patient, if someone doesn't want us,we don't want them .

  • If you are polite and respect generally agreed upon social rules, you won't get blocked.
And no, the person on the other end does not owe you anything. A block means communication has ended. While you may think you did nothing wrong, the other person does not experience life as you do and doesn't have the same views as you. They are their own person.
It would be best for you to move on to the next person. Not everyone is kind. There is no getting around that.
If it happens many times, it is even better to examine your own patterns of behavior.

@MeowMeowFuzz well said but there are people block you for not reason sometimes because of your look

  • I never block anyone, I prefer to communicate and come to an understanding

  • @Ahmedali999 thank you for understanding the context of my post. When creating that post I knew it was likely I would get replies from a few people that would reply without reading my entire post, and some that would post replies saying things like "nobody owes you anything/move on/just get over it".
The particular issue that moved me to write that post wasn't about physical appearance, but you are correct; there are some very superficial people in this online world... even here on this website which I assumed was a place designed for kind and empathetic people to connect.

  • I’m really sorry you feel this way, & I genuinely wish it didn’t bother you, there are obviously reasons why this may be a bit triggering but you’re right, there might be a sense of power they get, or maybe they are justified & at times it may be something completely different which is definitely not a reflection of the person (meaning they blocked because this person is far away ect , things like this) but your words on this post shows a very caring level headed individual, many blessings your way 🌌

Unfortunately, the anonymity of online allows people to be cruel with impunity.

@FloridaGirl01 i suffer from this problem which is i start call it affliction and test from God because it happens alot to me, some they also told me you look scary 👹 and criminal👺. ☝️ be patient, get over it if it happens you once it happens to me 10 times be proud and have honor. If someone doesn't want you, don't want them back .

  • People have the right to block whom they choose. They are not required to give a reason. While it may be a bit confusing to be blocked when you have no idea why, a mature adult will just accept that it happened and move on. No one owes us a response or an explanation.

We’re all supposed to be mature adults here. That means we have the ability to accept rejection. If we have a problem accepting that, it’s our problem to solve, not for others to solve for us.

  • @Ahmedali999 sweetie you don't look scary, actually your photos look quite adorable. In my opinion, anyone that makes those kinds of rude comments probably should not be on this site.

What @Babichev said %100 correct. have honor if someone block you block them back and get over it,never think about it. It's not going to make you poor ect
They are just normal human been. And this earth is huge

  • @Ahmedali999 unfortunately the person you mentioned has moderator status, which I am just now realizing means we are unable to block them. The person also just off-handedly called me immature, which is surprising considering they are labeled as a moderator.
From my experience moderators should not be getting involved in forum posts unless they are actually moderating or contributing something positive.

@flordagirl you misunderstood her, she's amazing person and she's always 1 of the first people to help, respond, and give advice . Only thing her personality little strick or straight she meant i think man up or get over it 🤗 believe me she doesn't mean to call you immature. Or she never did . Her advice is just straight . And i agree with her advice because I have been wasting my life, time thinking about people why they ignore me or don't want me,or hate let them go to hell. Now I'm different if someone block me i block back or if someone doesn't want me i don't want them back,if someone hate me i hate them back.

  • I've gotten much more comfortable with blocking people lately, here and elsewhere. If you've got a close relationship with someone, and they ghost and block you, that can definitely be very hurtful. But for a very casual acquaintance, or someone you've only spoken to online... I know it's not pleasant, but ultimately it's just something you have to learn to accept.

I've blocked a decent number of people on this site, for a variety of reasons. In some cases I got irritated with their awful communication style in messages and just don't want any further communication. In some cases it's because I met them and didn't have a good experience and very much don't want any further contact with them. In other cases I did have a good experience with them, but I just feel it's over and don't want to continue communication. In yet other cases I am actually good friends with the blockee and just don't want to constantly see them coming up in my search results on this site.

  • Is there an option for forum authors to turn off replies? I said what I felt needed to be said while staying within the guidelines, and would rather not receive anymore replies. Could someone please advise? Thanks.

I am sure a moderator can shut the topic down.

  • @WriterGF I'm not asking for it to be taken down; just closed for further replies.

  • @flordagirl you'll need to tag and request a moderator to close it for you.

  • It really sucks to have such a kind soul think different of a place like this, where we should feel welcome instead of experiencing hostility … happens way to often.

  • @SuperManCuddles hi, could you please close this topic to further replies? Thanks in advance :)

  • @Babichev spoke bluntly and plainly, but it was not a personal attack.

    @flordagirl - best wishes.

    Closing this down.
