I personally bless the rains down in Africa.
Do you mean where it happens more or where we wish for rain ๐ง to happen? I think it happens mostly in South America / I wish for it to happen more in Africa (I would choose Antarctica but I donโt want the penguins ๐ง to be slipping from the slippery ice caused by the rain)
Toto
@Morpheus on average, how often does it rain in Toto
@cuddles_ndream I have no idea, thought we were playing name that tune.
Wait there's a continent called Pangea?
There was a continent called Pangea ..... the last super-continent
Probably not in Antarctica, because it's freezing out there, covered by snow and adding rain to the mix will likely just make it worse for the animals who adapted to it. Along with the few humans who are there to research.
Africa, naturally
@buckeyes4ever70 lol yeah, I had to Google it cause I never heard of it before. ๐
I bless the rains on the west coast of North America, for they need it bad.
@Lovelight haha isn't google amazing ..... what a blessing internet woulda been while I was in college : )
Oh, is it โI BLESS the rainsโโฝ ๐
I dream of rain elay elay
I spent a couple of summers in Africa, and where I was located rains often brought a LOT of trouble (ie: flooding & mosquitos). It would thunderstorm all night, and by the time the sun came up, there'd be orange-ish mud everywhere. By 9am, the temperature would reach 100 degrees, and there was steam coming up from the ground. NOT pleasant! LOL
๐ถ I bles the rain down in Africa ๐ถ
I don't know. However, I can reveal - and I'm sorry if this comes as a shock - that the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.
I sure as heck don't bless the rains here - it has been raining six hours tonight so far!
By blessing the rains, are we invoking rain to happen or just blessing the already existing rain such that it becomes especially rejuvenating or something?
@Travismo From my understanding (and dictionary definition), blessing gives permission, thanks, endowment, and praise, not invocation, so I think Toto meant โI give thanks for the rain (down in Africa) and I praise it.โ
A lot of people are living in the past here
A song from the past I am trying to forget and the absinthe isnโt working. BTW, no one cringes that a bunch of white dudes think things in Africa need their blessing?
I'm not religious but frequently say "God bless you" when somebody sneezes. If I bless the rains Africa, it's not a racial or a religious thing for me. I actually thought the lyrics were "I miss the rains in Africa".
@UCpaaHVg6u0 I am thinking not of racism but of the European imperialistic past of Africa and yes the lyric was bless not miss. I would say it may mean one thing to you but you are not African now are you? People tend not to give much thought to how things appear to other groups they are not a part of.
@UCpaaHVg6u0 Yea is one of those misunderstood lyrics.
@FunCartel my fascination with this song is mainly about how stupid, and therefore unintentionally hillarious, the lyrics are.
@MCcuddles2 You know I got to say I strongly agree with you. The only reason i put the song is because the thread reminded me of the lyrics... ๐ถ I bless the rain down in Africa ๐ถ
