Am I the only one that does this?

❄️The cold weather is here and I really don’t like being cold. When my children were little, it was so cold, the doors to my car would be frozen shut. I wanted to make sure they were nice and warm, so I always preheated the car (outside) and to make sure they didn’t get cold. I would put blankets in the dryer and get them nice and toasty warm. I’d put them in a clean garbage bag to hold the heat in, then once they were in their car seat, I’d pull the warm blankets out and cover all but their faces. You should have seen their expressions. It was priceless.
So today I still don’t like being cold, my daughters are grown, but I still put my blankets in the dryer, get them nice and warm, then wrap myself in them in my bed. It’s just a bit of heaven. You should definitely try it if you aren’t a fan of the cold. The End. ❄️

  • I'll give it a try.

  • My grandma used to do that when I was a kid, put the blanket in the dryer, good stuff.

  • I actually hate the cold so much living up in Canada that I made the decision to live in Florida from November to April. But it still gets pretty chilly here during the nights and early mornings so I actually throw my bathing suit and towel in the dryer before I head to the pool so I can get my exercise. (thankfully it’s heated lol). Makes it nice and toasty before dipping in.

  • I sometimes spin my socks in the dryer before putting them on. I should try the blanket idea, that sounds so comfy!

  • Bath towels warm from the dryer after showering!

  • My mom used to iron our beds before we went to sleep so we didn't have to crawl into a cold bed.

  • As a Texan whose made Kentucky my home, I love the distinct seasons and invigorating energy the cold can bring but also prefer it in small doses! 🤪

    @Tranquilescape I definitely do this! Or even put my daughter’s coat in the dryer for a quick warm up. Side note, love your new picture and just saw you are opening your own hosting space! Huge congrats in this endeavor!!
    @Mela_B your mom sounds amazing!

  • When I was a child, I would roll around in blankets fresh out the dryer.. I love being warm

  • Similar...there would be nights I'd throw my PJs in the dryer on high heat before bed.

    Pretty great idea to have done it for the car too.

    @KayAnders87 I just picture child you having done that just after coming in from playing outside and likely dirty/sweaty...Good ol' child's mind. Parent's mind not so happy, hah.

  • I ocassionally hold on to a warm towel, find it pretty nice. Perhaps hand warmers would provide similar feeling, though I haven't looked into how they work. I don't like the cold either, though I wanna try liking it.

  • @Chris04 you definitely should. 😊

    @Morpheus sounds like great memories.

    @Sheena123 I never thought about doing that to a bathing suit. That’s smart.

    @CuddlesByDeep i need to do thst with my socks for sure. 😀

    @ThomSSI yes! Definitely with towels. I need to remember that.

    @Mela_B I will have to try that. Love it.

    @Nature_Lover_ great idea with the coat. I should do that. Thank you so much for the compliments. Yes, I will be opening soon and I am beyond excited and have been looking for close to a year for the right spot. I can’t wait. Please come see me sometime if you are ever close to the Atlanta area.

    @KayAnders87 so do I. 🙂

    @entwine also a very great idea to put pjs in.
    I think I’ll be very warm this winter with all of these ideas. 🤗🤗

    After all the discussion about warm towels, I found myself so tempted by a towel warmer like this one by Runtal. Good thing I'm sworn to buy nothing between now and new years 😆 else my account today would have several hundred less :-). Besides, not sure how eco these things are, though they will warm the bathroom too.

  • @Lovelight I have tried to like the cold, I just can’t. I’ve heard it’s very good for you to be cold sometimes, but it’s just not me.

    @CuddlesByDeep that does sound amazing to have that close by after a shower. 🙂

    Top tip for very cold days - throw a spash of water on your underpants and microwave them. Also socks.

  • @Tranquilescape I will absolutely take you up on that invite!! Also, with regard to the jacket, just be careful of zippers and buttons being very hot when fresh out of the dryer.

    @Tranquilescape

    "but I still put my blankets in the dryer"

    I do this with my underwear every morning in the winter.

    I can feel the zaps from the dry air and static cling now. 😂

  • I gotta say a hard NO to putting unmentionables in the microwave. Sorry ! 🤔

  • So I decided to wait until the temperature was at freezing to winterize my well house tonight 🤦‍♀️. I dreaded it more than anything, but temps are projected to get to 28. So I’m doing the socks, pjs blankets and ironing my bed to make sure I can warm myself back to normal. I may regret doing them all at once, but probably not, lol. 🥶

  • I’m a fan of hot water bottles and warm flax pillows. I have flax seed filled booties that I heat up in the microwave and put on my feet. They are amazing.

    @OhioMike

    Live a little.

  • @Tranquilescape the water turns to steam and heats the material more effectively. Also stops the microwave from blowing up.

  • @CuddleDuncan ohhhh. Lol. I think I’ll stick to the dryer to warm up my things.

    I’ve never put on steamy socks and underwear before. Lol. 🙈
