Wish I Knew This B4 my 30s

I’ve been watching a Tik Tok person make videos where he says “something I wish I knew before my thirties” and proceeds to say one amazing fact or way of life that would have made his life better lol

So I’ll ask everyone here over 30. “What’s something you wish you knew before your thirties?”

What NPD is so I could have avoided those individuals.

    The five love languages

And that I am a INFJ. A lot more made sense after I figured that out.

  • This is really cool! For me personally before 20’s would have been more significant, so I would speak from that perspective

    • Save 20% off all your earnings no matter what, create a lifestyle with the rest … 1/3 is even better, when the right opportunity comes along / a need / or you simply want to splurge, your foundation is always there

    • don’t try or worry about making everybody happy … you cannot accomplish this / very few will appreciate it / most don’t care / & if for whatever reason you can’t come through 1 time, no matter how legitimate the reason is, they’ll forget about everything else before

    • it is much better to owe money than to owe a favor , but needing to borrow in the 1st place may show inability to repay or to do so on time, it’s better to be self sustainable

    • learn & understand the credit system, & use it to your advantage

    • habits are hard to break, regardless if good or bad! Make sure you’re creating good amazing habits

    • it is easier to stay in shape than it is to get back in shape, each & every time

    • there is absolutely nothing in this world you can’t accomplish - If you’re set in your mind / determined / & tunnel vision, you will do it

    • Lastly, people will try to take advantage/ get over you/ not everyone will like you / others will but maybe not be the right person or crowd and all this is okay, be careful who you give your loyalty to, (this includes people / work / ect) your inner voice & intuition will hardly fail you, make sure your yes means yes & your no means no, and most times it’s best to avoid trouble or conflict , but if you’re confronted with it, and you have to choose between fight or flight , you will get your respect win - lose - draw by fighting , by taking flight you’re setting yourself up to be a matt to get stepped all over. & there is no standard for happiness / success / or making it … these 3 things happens when you follow your passions (whatever they may be) you have your health / you have financial peace of mind (this doesn’t mean rich) & the people & souls around you make you happy & bring out the best in you.

  • Awesome answers so far! Mine aren’t as profound and most are taken from tik tok lol

To dry your running shoes quickly, tie your shoelaces together and have the laces on the outside of the door of your dryer. Close the door on your laces and start your dryer 😊 this will protect your shoes and keep your laces intact

  • Take care of your body. You have only one.

Beauty is fleeting. Having a good personality will get you through the years of decline.

Take a chance and go do something outside of your comfort zone. It creates stories and builds character to throw caution to the wind once in a while.

Go to raves. Dance with strangers until the sun comes up. 😂

  • @Sheena123 if your shoes don't have laces throw them in a pillowcase and tuck part of the pillowcase over the door. No rattle. Learned that one last year.

  • You're thirsty, seriously, go get some water and hydrate.

  • So the main tik tok guy I follow for these bits of advice is called SidneyRaz.

    Here’s one:

You can find out from the bank where your money is being invested. Some are invested in pollution or environmentally negative things that could harm our planet. You can call and basically find out where it’s being invested and switch it.

  • Here’s some more:

Microwave garlic to peel it faster

Apparently, you’re supposed to put deodorant on at night. Look it up lol

The best way to microwave stuff is to put the bowl or plate more on the outer side of the microwave tray, not directly in the middle.

  • @Sheena123 - Makes sense needing deodorant or stronger after having some microwaved garlic lol.
Reading all of tips together seemed to have a good correlation lol.

  • Hey I’m interested in cuddling

  • @blisscuddles lol! Maybe that was on purpose 😉

  • I’ve been pondering this question quite a bit and I can’t boil it down to specific things. It all comes back to decades of life experience and one cannot have that without going through it. I’m sure there are specific little things. I can remember many times when I’ve been surprised to learn something that I could not believe I’d gone this long in life without knowing. Unfortunately, I can’t remember any of them.

@Sheena123 , I figured out the deodorant thing on my own by accident. I did not know that was true in general.

About 2 years ago a friend broke their shoulder and their arm was immobilized for quite some time. The crease at their elbow would get smelly and their doctor suggested they apply zinc oxide ointment, that thick white paste that we used to see lifeguards put on their noses to protect it from sunburn. It’s a natural deodorant and is way less expensive than buying regular deodorant. They started using it as a deodorant and then told their friends about it on FB. I bought some and tried it. I apply as thin a layer as I can so it’s not messy. Still, it leaves a bit of a film and I didn’t want it getting onto my clothes too much. I started applying it at night when I went to bed. By morning it was no longer noticeable. It has worked really well for me and is way less expensive than regular deodorant. Also more ecological since there’s so much less packaging. I don’t even need to apply it every day. I did not know this was a general principle, though. Thanks.

  • Not to allow yourself to get sucked into other people’s negativity… listen to your gut.. if you’re feeling uncomfortable in a social situation but can’t put ur finger on it just walk away… or politely excuse yourself.

When you engage in others negativity it’s mentally draining

Never get romantically involved with someone who has more troubles than you do.

  • Nothing too deep offhand, but the first thought that comes to my mind is I wish cuddling as an end in itself had been a thing before I got married.

  • @Sheena123 I'm like @Babichev ...as someone over 30 for a bit 😉, I really can't think of much . I think if I was in my twenty's (1980s) I couldn't even begin to believe society and the world after year 2000! So much has happened in last 20 years, its amazing (and scary) to think about sometimes. 🤔

  • I knew everything I needed to know before my thirties. After 30 I started forgetting things I already knew.

  • @UKGuy - is this what Bob Dylan meant when he wrote, “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now,” ?

  • Don't try to help people that arent looking to be helped. They will just drag u down.

  • Not everyone wants your advice. Sometimes people just want to be heard.
