I'm not certain I understand the anthropic principle.
I do understand the Puddle Principle.
A puddle wakes up one morning and says wow, look at this hole. It appears to be made exactly for me. It fits me perfectly, is the exact same shape as I.
Of course the conditions on earth are perfect for supporting life as we know it. Life as we know it evolved in these very conditions. If conditions were different, we don't know if there would be life we would recognize but it certainly would be different than life as we know it because it would have evolved under different conditions. I'm not sure if this is an example of anthropic principle or if the Puddle Principle is anthropic principle.
It was once thought that all life required sunlight because all the life we were aware of depended on sunlight in one way or another. However, then life forms were discovered around volcanic vents deep within the ocean that defied what we thought were the conditions necessary for life. We had to modify our ideas about the conditions necessary for life on our planet.

Universe Exists Depending in what ever people believe in... People will believe God Created it.
Other believe the Aliens did
Other believe in the the Big bang Theory
Others believe in others stuff.
And how it became to exist or what ever reason became to exist just depends in people believes. And what ever they belive in thats the answer...
@Babichev I don't disagree that there is anything particularly special about our brand of life. I also don't think there is anything particularly special about our brand of universal laws.
But what that thought leads me to is that it's extremely probable there are infinite brands of universes with their own slightly different laws and we just occupy a random one.
The whole multiverse thing is were I start to check out. I'll leave that one up to others to ponder.
I want to thank everyone for keeping the conversation interesting and civilized.
Every concept that is embodied in language exists by construction.
@dave31415 there is a zen koan that goes
" a monk asks a zen master: Does the dog have buddah nature?
The zen master says "mu". (Which roughly translates into nonexistent, or both "yes and no"."
I don’t know what part of being disrespectful & mocking an entire group with comments like, “ I was once kicked out of a Barnes and Noble for moving all the bibles into the fiction section.” , & another comment cheering them on with, “you are the man” is “civilized”, but it is clear that favoritism & personal stance clouds the moderators actions … it would be nice if you avoid any & all bias when putting the moderator hat on! When it comes to forum contributor - do as you wish. I personally don’t believe in any religion, but I would never disrespect someone or an entire population for believing, especially not in-front of a screen connected to a wifi connection where I’m safe from possible actions, kinda cowardish … if you wouldn’t do or say something in front of someone’s face, don’t do it behind a screen.
Considering the number of personal attacks that you’ve made that we’ve let slide, you have little room to complain. No more personal attacks, okay? You’ve used up more than your quota. - Babichev
It exists because we do. And to remind us that anything we want is already within us.
So The Unmanifest could manifest and cuddle with itself.
MCU or DCU?
Both exist to make tons of movies and in turn, tons of money...
And since money makes the world go round...
The universe exists to make the world spin.
I don't think universe exists for fun, everything based on justice, sometimes there's no justice on earth, that's why I believe in religion
There is no 'why.' We just happen to be the first animals on our planet able to posit the question.
God made it. The Universe is too complex to have come into existence by chance.
But the older you get in life and the more you read about science and religion, the more you realize religion was right all along. Jesus, the saints, everything is all real and happened.
The Miracle of the Sun is the best proof of another world. You can debate it all you want but it is proof to me 100% of religion. And it's one of the reasons why it's never talked about in science, because it is true and really did happen.

Because 0 is an unstable number. Any change from 0 is an infinity change. Did God create the universe or did the universe create God?
John 5:30, I "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. Jesus is a human submitted his will to the father , he can't create the universe and protect himself from been killed
Not going to go off on a Biblical tangent but duly noted these New Testament quotes are from the Gospel of John, which has certain problems.
I guess, then, it depends on whether one thinks the answer to why the universe exists is a theological question or a scientific question. If it’s theological, then I’d offer up the Hopi explanation: The Sun Spirit created the first world in which insect like creatures lived unhappily in caves. The Sun Spirit sent Grandmother Spider down to the next world where they took on the appearance of bears and wolves and other creatures but they were not happy there, either. So the Sun Spirit sent Grandmother Spider down to the third world where the creatures took on the appearance of people and then they were happy.
Fair enough?
Something and nothing are inseparable. Something exists because of nothingness and vice-versa. It's like left existing because of right or up existing because of down.
"Why" implies a purpose. I don't think there is a grand purpose for the universe existing. As it would turn out, our understanding of the universe has never benefitted from the innumerable answers to "why" that our species has dreamt up. This is likely because people usually pick an answer to the "why" question that makes them feel good as individuals, as part of a group, etc.
"How" informs us that the universe is expanding. It informs us that suns die, as our sun inevitably will. It's extremely telling to me that no "why" answer from antiquity touches upon these two basic observations. It's almost as if people back then didn't know many things about the cosmos. It's almost like they were more concerned with having excuses for genocide, slavery, and rape.
@HogboblinZwei if there is no purpose, which may be the case, then why not nothing instead of something?
@MCcuddles2
I dunno. I'm not an astrophysicist/big brain science person. I assume it's because certain conditions were met. Perhaps, in the future, the scientific community will have more answers as to why there is something rather than nothing.
However, with that said, I'm not inclined to think that something existing means that it must have a purpose. Additionally, it seems that only sufficiently sentient creatures (like humans) attribute purpose to anything. Historically, when humans inject purpose into matters that they don't entirely comprehend, suffering and horror soon follow.
I think that's not cool, personally.
@HogboblinZwei 👍💯
science 0+0=1 Christians 1+1+1=1
@HogboblinZwei I can agree that purpose is a human concept.
However let's get more granular. Cause and effect is a phenomenon that exists in this universe regardless of the presence of a sentient entity to witness is.
That question becomes, what is the original cause, which leads to the paradox of a causeless cause.
That paradox is a fundamental aspect of our reality and not so easily written off am dismissed. One can choose to "write it off" as it will be "figured out eventually" but I personally think that this is intellectually dishonest.
One can both be objectively interested in the scientific study of the how while still appreciating the mystery and paradox of the why.
So...admitting that you don't know something is intellectually dishonest? Would this make pretending to know intellectually honest?
If so: I actually know. For reals. I've got access to a source of information that nobody else has. No, I won't be sharing what I know, because I'm fully aware of what you lot will do with the knowledge.
It is not intellectually dishonest to admit that you don't know.
It is however intellectually dishonest to deny that this paradox, perhaps, cannot be understood through human reasoning. It then becomes an unknowable mystery, which is fascinating in it's own right.
I don't attach a positive value to not knowing— as the possibilities afforded by ignorance are often detrimental. And there are an infinite amount of possibilities in the mysterious. Whatever one can dream up, really.
I know it's hard for almost all of you to understand the purpose of our creation,we are here to learn to be like God. If you would like to know truth as it is, as it was, and as how is going to be, and find out for your self your true identity, send me a message, but this is not for those that are close minded, but for those that are seeking to be great human beings and obtain a better resurrection in the day that is appointed for the dead and the living to be judge.
@soullover
Which God? And which truth? Furthermore, how did you gain access to that truth? Surely If there is only one truth, then anyone could come to understand it—regardless of other factors? If one can find out this obvious, singular truth, then why should a person need to message you?
@HogboblinZwei message me to find out the truth about why you should message @soullover about the truth. Please include banking details.
The truth is available for a limited time and is not for the empty pocketed.
HogboblinZwei The God that created our spirits. The truth that will make you free. Not many can access this truth because error and disbelief have the majority of this world confuse, but those that scape the darkness of it can come to wonder and search beyond science. I don't want to share things that are hard for the mind and heart to understand with our natural eyes, or make any body angry because of the truth.
