Do you have any plans for New Year’s Eve?

Usually I’m at a dance but that didn’t happen last year or this year. Looks like I’ll have an early dinner with two friends that I haven’t seen for awhile, then go put in a couple of hours at the rabbit shelter. Then I’ll go over to visit with a different friend and watch a movie. We’re contemplating a spaghetti western.

What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?

    Not sure just yet, but really glad I’m off work ! I planned on doing chores all day to go into the New Year with a really nice clean / tidy apartment, but when I got home everything was done 😂 I feel so bad 🤣 … I’ll probably go see Spider-Man during the day & wait on my boys to hit me up 2 hours before midnight to meet at some random place / spot / ect.

    I'm thinking about picking up some steamed shrimp for dinner. No plans with anyone at this point, and I'm OK with that. 😊 I'm glad I'm off on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, especially after working on Christmas Day. 🤗 I hope everyone has a safe holiday!!!

    @Ahmedali999 I used to do that! Well, it wasn't for money, it was for brownie points at work especially with my boss. If I worked over Christmas and New Year I could basically do whatever I wanted for the rest of the year. The best part was, in that job there was very little work that week - the few of us who were there mostly just sat around chatting and took it in turns to leave early.

    In my current life I have taken this week off. It is a great treat.

    Studying? Yeah, probably that on my like 95 year old frail PC. I gotta stop doodling in my note taker during study time, though. I think I'm getting better at stopping. 😅

    @CuddleDuncan amazing, taking off enjoying life is much better, but we got bills to pay, thanks again for the CV u made, i got permanent job now, first time i do good as a concierge, chilling,watching movies, no more stress, 😀

    same thing I do every new year. Stay in and watch the 3 stooges marathon and be asleep by 10 pm

    Currently enjoying a New Years Eve dinner alone at home watching some TNG, was originally going to be visiting family for it but plans changed. There’s now more family going round which normally would be a good thing, but I’d rather be cautious with my health (may or may not also not get along amazingly with some of them).

    I did some shopping earlier. Now I'm at home surfing Youtube. I certainly won't be tuning in the awful TV programs. I can hear fireworks exploding outside and I'm thinking of how scared pets and birds might be.

    My New Year's Eve celebrations this year were much the same as those of last year.

    To best encapsulate the passing year I bought a variety of raw meat on the 25th. I placed the collection on a large baking sheet, and took it outside onto the balcony. Given the cold weather in Fargo, it was also necessary for me to hook up a space heater, so that the meat heap didn't freeze. This waste of energy strikes me as a worthwhile addition to the whole ritual.

    Over the course of five days I would take time to defile the flesh. I'd open the balcony door and spit on the wad, cough all over it, sprinkle it with whatever trash was at hand, and sometimes strike the mass—usually with a broom handle. When my improvised weapon felt inadequate to the task, I'd punch or claw at the assemblage of meat while screaming obscenities.

    On the 30th, at nine o'clock, I set the oven to five hundred degrees and slid the tray of foul meat on the center cooking rack.

    Black, noisome smoke seeped from the oven. A few well-placed fans pushed the miasma into the corridor outside of the apartment. Sounds of merriment and celebration came to a slow end, and were eventually replaced by shrieks of horror and wretching.

    Confusion. Disgust. Hatred. My neighbor's negativity was a fine wine, and I savored every drop. A few of them yelled into the apartment as they rushed to the nearby exit: "What are you doing?" "Why?" And so on. I laughed until my sides ached, and denied any knowledge of what was transpiring.

    The fire alarms went off near midnight. The apartment building was vacated, save for me.

    I sat in the dark living room, enjoying the silence, smiling at the thought of feigning ignorance when questioned by the authorities.

    What had I been doing on the night of December thirtieth? Celebrating in the best way I knew how, just like all of my fellow creatures.
