I like to volunteer at a local horse rescue.
So they have a few trainers, and plenty of horses.
As a volunteer, my main job is to free up the trainer's time. The more free time they have, the more time they can dedicate to rehabilitating the horses; which in turn makes them more likely to be adopted.
Freeing up their time basically means doing manual labor. Majority of it is cleaning(mucking) the stalls, which consists of scooping out the poop and urine soaked sawdust and replacing it with new sawdust. It's pretty much just hard labor.
At the end though, if there is time, you get to hang out with the horses, either helping train them or just hanging out with them.
How it relates to cuddling is that I've found that the horses love human contact. Which makes sense given they've been rescued from abusive situations.
If they like your energy(that's really the only way I can describe it), you can just kind of walk up to them and make contact with your hands. It's a really calming and grounding experience, for myself and apparently also for the horses. These majestic creatures which can easily kill you become really gentle and still.
It's overall a really rewarding experience because the work I'm doing helps these beings get a shot at a better life, while at the same time I get to connect with the majesty of nature.
If you are looking for some horse cuddles, volunteer at a rescue. 🙂
