The real problem is people who either think they know more about covid than the scientists who research it; or seem to believe that deliberately breathing out germs that could kill somebody is an ok thing to do.

I would quit and follow my dream of finishing my novel, travel to the locations in the novel for authenticity, research the facts and background behind the plot. But I would want a partner to do this with. We would go to Rome, Germany, Jerusalem, Jordan, and places across the United States.

UK Research and Innovation does, however, and this page has a 3 meg Excel spreadsheet listing the over 1,000 covid research projects they have funded.

@CuddleDuncan i just checked your link, nowhere does it says they are no longer accepting donations, you previously stated , “ well, great, but covid research already has money coming out of its ears.” its like trying to justify what’s right or wrong about what someone wants to do with $2 million dollars if they win it …. what I personally want to do is donate it to covid research… every dollar counts against the fight.
Know what counts more? Following medical and scientific advice and getting vaccinated.
It may count more to you but I’m still donating $2 million dollars (should I win) to covid research & resources.
I haven't decided yet what to do with my two trillion dollars dollars.
@cuddles_ndream UKRI doesn't accept donations .... it's a public body. The WHO fund that you posted is very keen on having donations, but it doesn't fund covid research.

@cuddlesn_dream my edit to my last posted crossed with yours. I'm delighted that the imaginary $2m is going to the WHO fund, but as already mentioned it doesn't fund covid research. I've got no problem with donating money to research, my point is simply that research is well-funded and is not the bottleneck.

Thank you @JoyfulHeart, I am, aren't I? I was one of the first to get the vaccine too, because I am very socially minded and I wanted to do my bit to keep people safe.
If I got the imaginary money, I'd use it to go to an imaginary doctor with the imaginary equipment to figure out exactly why my body is so messed up and fix it. Then I'd no longer have to worry that getting a vaccine might kill me. Yay!
BTW, I'm fully vaccinated for Covid. Of my own free will! And @HogboblinZwei only had to virtually carry me from bed to wherever in the apartment I needed to go for about six days altogether.

This final comment is aimed specifically at the antivaxxers I'm surrounded by here in North Dakota. Good lord, they're obnoxious. And just plain noxious, too.

Well said, @DaringSprinter. If people who are immunocompromised to the point where having even the smallest amount of virus introduced to their system, in the form of the vaccine, can become incredibly ill for several days, can still manage to take the vaccine willingly, then everyone else can shut up whining and do it too. Any reason for not taking the vaccine outside of 'it will, with 100% certainty, kill me' is incredibly selfish, stupid and obnoxious.
If I had that kind of money, I'd give half to my mom & use the other half to buy a house for me and my friend. What's left can go in a savings account for her son's future college funds when he's older.

@cuddles_ndream: Well, color me surprised. And here I thought that if you were opposed to using the vaccine to make it harder for the virus to ride you to somebody else, you were opposed to the vaccine.
I guess you could just want to be a walking sickness dispenser yourself, and be fine with nobody else doing the same.
