Amending this thread cause folks are focusing on the wrong question (see thread).

Question is simple, do we understand the effects of cuddling on men with oxytocin? This could explain a lot of the thread I see circulating. This is some very powerful stuff we are stimulating in our body and it requires some know how to harness.

Are we confident in everyone’s know how providing this amazing service?

"Boner" teleports me back to 4th grade. I think most folks prefer "aroused" to avoid giggles and mild eye rolls.

On topic, I think everyone understands because there is a level of intimacy in cuddling that someone might become aroused(see? not so bad!). I'm guessing people don't over-analyze it because they're focusing on being relaxed.

I think it's a great research subject but the fact remains when a man gets aroused, just shift. Cuddling should be free of any stress and that includes the sometimes awkwardness of arousal.

Interesting topic but not sure if it will be received the way you want it to be.

When you have an erection from cuddling it often occurs contrary to your mental experience. It's called arousal non-concordance. Men apparently only have a 50% overlap of subjective arousal with genital response.

Choco and Mark, great feedback. I used the term in jest and also from threads posted. I’m new to this site but have cuddled in NYC with folks who held levels of therapeutic degrees associated. Coincidentally, I volunteered with the Kinsey Institute at Indiana around cuddling and female/male level response. I’m just curious with the level of pros ranging in age that folks understand the “why” for arousal is important to determine the cuddler’s motive. Cuddling is powerful and is needed! Hell think about it, to release oxytocin in men and women- you need only to be held for 16 secs daily!!!!

  • Oh goodie, another thread about erect penises

@pmvines That's more or less what I thought when I saw this thread :p

I prefer lurking in the forums but I thought I'd jump out of the shadows for just a sec - not for a Halloween jump-scare, although the thought is tempting - to say thanks. I'd like to say thank you to the people providing such good information and others who choose to discuss this topic at all for that matter. Many women I know would immediately feel uncomfortable in this situation, as I imagine most men would be equally uncomfortable as well. Both have equally justifiable reasons for feeling this way. By providing more info on this sort of thing, I feel like more people will be able to better navigate these murky waters. (Sorry, I just finished watching one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.) Arousal happens and while it's more than a little disconcerting in an otherwise platonic situation - it doesn't mean it has to ruin a good thing.

    Thanks everyone! <3

P.S. Maybe it's because I'm tired but I've scrutinized the word 'Caribbean' for far too long. Did I spell it right? To me, it's just one of those words that looks suspiciously misspelled 98% of the time.
