I’m visiting NOLA this weekend and I’m so excited!! I’ve never been before, so I’m looking for tips, tricks, and recommendations!? 🎭 💜💚🖤 (Not looking for cuddles)
I love visiting New Orleans, the food scene is second to no other city I've ever been to. I feel like all I do is eat when I go there. If you're into this kind of thing, the World War II Museum is one of the best museums I've ever been to.
NOLA is amazing! I recommend going to the riverfront. There's a lot to see there, including a flea market, and lots of shops and restaurants.
For some reason I found their cemeteries to be beautiful. Nothing like what we have in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US.
If you're interested in getting out into nature, the bayou has a lot to offer.

If you like history, there is a ton of it in NOLA, and not just in music and culture. A couple of unique museums worth a visit:

@SweetiSammi yeah cafe du monde seems to be a backdrop for a movie every year lol. The carousel bar is real real slow. But it’s so cool. And you’re spinning around the bar and it’s not your fault this time !😂
@SweetiSammi I don't remember which one I went to, but it seems like it was within walking distance of the French Quarter, somewhere on the opposite side of Bourbon Street from the river.
One of my favorite cities ❤️ Make sure you go to preservation hall, also Frenchman Street If you're a music lover. take the ferry across The Mississippi, walk around Algiers and look at the houses. If you want to buy souvenirs, do it down by the river where local artist vend, not in the trinket shops on Bourbon Street. I really don't recommend spending a lot of time on Bourbon Street unless you're a frat boy, couple hours you'll be good and drunk and making bad decisions and getting taken advantage of, plus It's all bad classic rock cover bands. Walk a lot and eat as much food as you can. I personally think du mond is a wasted eating experience. It's springtime so go to a crawfish boil. I talk too much when I'm hungry so I'll finish with keep your money close to you, don't even bother bringing heels the streets are hundreds of years old, And if someone bets you $20 they know where you got them, the answer is you got them in New Orleans

Yeah I'm not gonna lie to you, new Orleans is great, but there in an element of violence that's been growing ever since Katrina. My family in New Orleans doesn't even go to the French quarter anymore because it's too dangerous, and my friend was visiting NOLA last month and was robbed there.
I'm sorry to be a downer and I don't want to scare you. It is a wonderful place but I do want you to be realistic. People are getting shot down there and I'm not sure most of the people posting here are familiar with the local situation beyond a passing familiarity.
Do go, and do have fun. Just don't be flashing money or jewelry, trust your gut, and honestly, stay out of french quarter.
@cuddlewithKyle thanks for the warnings 😊 I’m from Baltimore, I’m a seasoned traveler, and I actually work at a travel agency. I know how to travel inconspicuously and keep my guard up and I know I’m not going to a fairytale place.
