I'm interested in guides to cuddle positions. Which ones do you know of?

    Lounge chair/(brother bear?)/tobbogan (if you chain multiple people) is my favorite for both versatility and comfort. Lets the front people be enveloped, and the back person a good abmount of pressure (without making your limbs go numb or crush you). Also works for groups of people well, and leaves hands free to play with hair or hold hands 😊
    I’ve also found that it works better if the front person is sitting on a pillow or two, especially when chaining people.

    Doing research turns-me-on, platonically.

    This comment talks about cuddle positions, whether-or-not they are platonic. I'm not advocating for anything in particular. You can take it for what it's worth or you can hijack the thread into rationalizations. Don't be a jerk. I took the Post as a challenge to learn. Here's what I found. I found many resources on Cuddle Comfort and found some others on, "competing", websites. I credit them where it seems appropriate. Many sites are behind paywalls. They don't "give" anything away. That is literally "their business". I'm not defending or complaining. Just explaining. Direct links to many of these can be found by Internet search engine. I don't list anything that I found behind a paywall. If it's here, I found it in the public domain. If your favorite position isn't in the list I created, create your own, improved, list. Public Domain information, so use it how you want.

    Warning: If you decide to do this, research for yourself, I ran into many search results that led to websites that launched a variety of malicious attacks on my computer. If you plan to do this, I suggest you perform your search from a computer that has mainstream and current protections against hacking and intrusion. I ran into at least 1 site that was very aggressive. It seems that the topic of "cuddling" is frequently used to lure people to malicious sites. Caviet emptor.

    Cuddle Styles/Names:
    (Any lack of response to correcting the names-used, can freely be interpreted as contempt of the complaint.)

    • Arm-in-arm/Arm overlap - (side position) - Partners, on their sides, facing-to-face, with their arms wrapped around each other. This is like the honeymoon hug, with the legs free of each other.
    • Butt Pillow - (prone position) - First partner lays face down, supporting their head with a pillow if needed. The second partner lays face down and uses their partners tushy for their cushy.
    • Butterfly/Back-to-back - (side position) - This is often a napping position, but it can be used to just share contact, while taking-in the surroundings. You and your partner lay on your sides, with your backs pressing-up against each other. A good position for people that want to approach the exploration of touch, gently. Comfortable pillows for your heads is advisable.
    • Cradle/Sweetheart/Sweetheart’s Cradle - (prone position) - Your partner is prone, on their back. You head rests on their chest while you hold each-other.
    • GOAT - (side/prone position) - This is my "Greatest Of All Times" cuddle. I like to be on my side, with my legs really tucked, as if I'm sitting on a chair. My partner's butt is on against the top of my legs and their legs are draped over. My bad back can put up with this position for hours.
    • Heartbeat - (prone position) - One partner lies prone, on their back. The other lays face-down, with their head, their ear, laying over the other's heart. You could do this with a leg, or the entire lower torso, off-to the side. Or they could overlap. The person on top should be able to hear the heartbeat of the other.
    • Honeymoon Hug - (side position) - Face to face, on your side, limbs intertwined.
    • Hugger - (seated position) - One partner is sitting with their legs stretched out on the cuddling surface, leaning against a surface or support. The other person sits in the same position between their partner's legs. Let the hugging-from-behind, begin.
    • Lap Pillow - (seated/side position) - One partner lays their head in/on the lap of their partner. A pillow can be used. This is a great position, if one person wants to have there head massaged (but not neck. causes bad kinks (as opposed to good kinks)), or if they like their hair stroked/brushed. This is a great position to use with one of those scrunchy, wire, scalp-massage tools.
    • Lean Together - (seated position) - The two partners sit, hip-to-hip, supported by a wall, couch. headboard, and they lean into each other. This is a great position for holding hands and telling stories.
    • Leg hugger - (any) - No particular position. The key piece is that one partner drapes their leg over a leg of the other. Obviously, the closer your overlap is to your groin, the more likely arousal could happen. This position allows you to use that fact, to tune the cuddle according to comfort level. The closer to the feet, that they cross, arousal is less likely.
    • Lotus - (sitting position) - Sometimes called crossed-legs (don't use that in a search engine), politically incorrect it has been called, "sitting Indian". Search on the, "lotus position", and look at how the legs are folded in the site. Then, this is perfect with holding hands, with shared breathing exercises, with eye-contact and story-telling/verbal love sharing.
    • Pancake/Weighted blanket - (prone position) - First partner lays prone, on their back. Second partner lays prone, face-to-face, on top of the other. Like standing face to face, but prone and in-contact. The upside-down Pancake is when the person on the bottom is also face-down.
    • Pretzel/Braided/Tangle - (any) - This is any position where your limbs and torsos are one big tangle. Whatever feels comfortable.
    • Royal Hug - (standing hug) - There's a metal barrier between you and Kate Middleton. So, you both bend at the waist and only hug with the shoulders.
    • Shhh cuddling - (any) - This is more of a modification, than a position. It's where you say, "Go" at the start of cuddling, before the cuddle actually starts. No words are spoken until the end of the cuddler. Checking-in, and Consent is still active but the goal is to have no focus except for the cuddle. This is for types-like-me, who spend 35% or more of the time, talking. (I made this one up but I'll bet it's been done.)
    • Spooning (Big spoon/Little spoon) - (side position) - Both people on their side. You or your partner are either in front or behind the other and you are nestled-together like a pair of spoons. The inside person is the little spoon.
    • Teathered/Loosely Tethered/Open spoon/half spoon/loose spoon - (side & prone position) - Like the spooning positions, but the contact is just a loose limb or two. From a spooning position, the big spoon leaves their arm under the little spoon, but leans-away (still on their side) or lays prone. This is an effective way of maintaining contact, but handling sexual arousal of the big spoon. If the little spoon is feeling smothered or overwhelmed-in-the-cuddle, this is also an easy way to alleviate that.
    • Two-in-a-chair = (seated position) - This is sometimes an athletic position. Basically 2 people sit in the same "strongly-backed" chair, in whatever positions the chair will tolerate.
    • Yab Yum/Double straddle - (sitting position) - You and your partner sit in each-others laps. One person's legs go under, the other's go over the lags of their partner. Then you hug. Try hugging first heads right-to-right. Then try left-to-left. This allows you to break-it-up a little, without dissolving the cuddle. A modification of this is to have the person-underneath sit in a lotus position.

    Cuddle Accessories: Somewhat based on location/cuddle surface, physical limitation, and/or need):

    • Pillow & Blankets/weighted blankets - Pillows and blankets are great accessories.
      Pillows can be used in all kinds of ways to support your body and make things easily comfortable.
      Example: Placing a pillow(s) between cuddlers can be used to reduce the intimacy, or to deal with arousal issues, all while allowing the connection, the touch, to continue.
      Example: Place a pillow under your knee if your calf muscles are tight. It allows your leg to relax without the tightness becoming uncomfortable.
      Blankets can be used for propping, for creating a cozy, safe space, for keeping your toes warm. A great accessory on a crisp fall or winter evening.

    • Stuffed/Plush animals and cuddle pillows - Many cuddle positions can be done using a stuffed animal or pillow, as a surrogate for a cuddle partner. For whatever reason, a person might not be comfortable, or able, to cuddle with another person.

    • Pets - This is too-big of a topic. There are volumes written about human's interaction with animals. Whether or not I have humans around to cuddle, I always love cuddling animals. It is a different type of connection. Whether or not you believe animals can love, caring for animals, and contact with them, is deeply satisfying to me.
