Paused?

I am finding about half of the people I have communicated with to this point are paused. Is this a certain time period? 2 of them I was having good conversation with and felt as though we could make a connection and cuddle in the future. Is this something I should just move on from?

  • A person can pause their account for however long they wish. It's best to move on.

  • @CallMeMikey so that means it is self paused?

  • No, deactivating is done by the person, pausing is done by the site, I would imagine for any of various reasons, but usually because they are pros who need to officially be approved.

    Amirite @sideon?

  • @cuddleuhappy yes you absolutely should move on. Some will never reappear. It is nothing to do with you.

However, many of them will become unpaused and you can resume your conversation. There are numerous possible reasons for the account being paused, and it does not imply anything nefarious. For example, one of the commonest reasons is a routine technical hitch with the professional's credit card.

Once the converstation has been resumed, feel free to ask, nicely, what the general circumstances were. You are not entitled to details of course, but the answer can illuminate the character of the person.

It tends to happen more with new professionals. If you yourself are new, you're probably better off looking for professionals who have lots of Karma, Friends, or have at least been active more more than a few months.

  • I stand corrected. Thanks y'all.

  • I paused my account briefly to attend to family matters and was shocked that people messaged me asking why I was banned or booted. I first checked that I wasn’t 🤣🤣🤣 and then explained the reason I’d paused my account. So I’m not sure if I had temporarily deactivated or just paused as I’d intended to do but just wanted to throw that out there.

I wouldn’t take it personally but I would also move forward with trying to making meaningful connections with others when accounts become paused or deactivated for any reason.

I think it goes that an individual can...
"Mute" won't show in other's searches, but can still receive messages from those who they've previously.
"Deactivate" will not be able to be found or contacted by anyone, but when ready can proceed as if never left.
    isn't in an 'active' mode.
"Delete" the entire profile is gone and can't be reinstated (after 24 hours or whenever their server refreshes??)

    Where as the moderators can...
"Pause" an account ~ A temporary state while things get worked out.
"Timeout" is for those who have been warned in the forum and don't make appropriate changes and can last several days.
"Ban"/"Delete" - the account is locked down, then deleted and all we see is a red X where their image used to be.

Edit/Added to the "delete" details for individuals.

  • Good information given above.

I’ll add reasons why a profile might be paused: if they are a pro, more often than not it’s a problem with their credit card that needs to be straightened out. There could be other reasons but that’s the most common. As was said, new pros in particular often go through some bumps as they figure things out. If they are not a pro, most common reason is that they were what we call an untagged pro - someone without a pro account who was charging. They often do. not come back. Alternatively they will either agree to refrain from requesting or receiving compensation or they will apply for a pro account.
