Calling a cuddler a different name by accident

Hiya everyone! This is my first discussion, but one I was wondering if anyone else could relate to?

I was messaging a lovely cuddler and accidentally typed another cuddlee’s name mid-sentence.

This doesn’t typically happen, and I was ever so apologetic as I wasn’t sure how they would take it.

They took it well as it was quite clearly unintentional. :)

Let me know everyone, has this happened to anyone ?

Women get tons of messages on here, so tons of names, and who am I to judge a minor slip up. Not a big deal!! If they take that to be a big deal I’d consider that a red flag and move on.

Continually making that mistake is different, might mean they don’t care or possibly a mental disorder.

  • It hasn’t happened to me but there have been times I’ve forgotten a cuddlers name during the session but for the most part I have my returning clients locked in. As well if you have a business line that helps as I save the contact as their name and their cc name. I’m sure it happens to others who aren’t so good with names but for me personally no. It’s okay though we all make mistakes!

  • I accidentally called a pro cuddler the wrong name once during a session. We laughed it off and the session continued as though nothing happened!

I'm joking, of course, this didn't actually happen. However, it could very easily be a real scenario. Therein lies a huge benefit of cuddling with pros - imagine how this could have gone down if that were a spouse, significant other, or even another enthusiast cuddler?

  • I once called out another cuddler's name during a particularly intense oxytocin rush.

  • I thankfully haven't though I definitely have forgotten peoples names in before. Luckily you don't have to call people by their names often and so I could play it off. I'm honestly terrible at names so this happens a lot when I meet new people in general. But I'll probably never forget a face!

A cuddler called me by the wrong name once. Given that my mother frequently gets it wrong, and an ex-girlfriend almost invariably called me by her husband's name for some years after they were married, it would have been churlish to be offended.

Nice to see your first thread!

  • Thanks, @CuddleDuncan. I guess I never new the meaning. I had a feel for it, but now I know, "churlish" = “deliberately rude”.

I’m surprised I haven’t! I’m just genuinely not the best with names, even with people I meet outside of cuddle comfort. I would hope they don’t get offended, I wouldn’t if someone mixed up my name on accident ☺️

  • During one Sun morning, I kept calling gf by name of female friend instead, worst of all it was when meeting her friends

  • I once sent a bunch of flirtatious texts replete with dirty innuendo to my TEACHER when his message slipped through during the, eh, conversation.
    Feel better?

I haven’t personally called someone a wrong name, but I have had another person call me the wrong name.

One time, my ex-boss called me “work peasant.”
I politely told him that my name is Nico, to which he replied “get out of my office!”

I didn’t keep that job much longer.

jk, but wouldn’t that be awful? I’m sure it’s happened to someone.

  • @CuddlesByDeep Well said, another potential positive when cuddling and connecting with paid or pro cuddlers.

@biancalovecraft Oh no!! I’m blushing just reading your comment!

@sunnysideup Yes, there can be a high volume of messages, multiple booking platforms and different site names and personal names. What I mean to say is, one person can literally have multiple names within one contact, their real name, their site name(s) and to top it off I am not the best at remembering names to begin with.

Luckily some how this has yet to happen with me.

  • Returning here, I am happy to see such positive responses (phew) haha! I think you all have the right outlook (luckily I do too) I think its pretty funny and shows an odd sign of comfortability ? :)

    Thanks everyone haha!

  • It is a hazard of the occupation. 😁 When I worked in customer service or jobs where I was composing lots of e-mails I would sometimes forget to fill out the little blank spot where their name would go in the salutation.

Oh, the pit in my stomach when I did it to customers. 😭

  • "Dear, _______",
    ...

  • I once used the wrong pronoun.

  • Being able to call someone the wrong name would imply that I actually remember other people's name.

I'm the worst with names. I've seen people haven't seen in years and they remember my name but I don't remember them at all.
Sometimes I feel like such a horrible person because of that, but, I guess I can't help my mind just don't do well with names. I've tried doing tricks to help remember, like be sure to repeat it back to them right away and use it multiple times during the discussion. Not always an opportunity though.

But for sure as other said, it makes it even harder with online screen names and multiple accounts.

    Tl;dr
I'm never offended if people get my name wrong.

  • @entwine Curious, do you remember faces with more ease? Or about the same as names?

This thread saddens me. If a connection is supposed to be created, or as it was used, an, "oxytocin rush," and names can't be remembered, I mean seriously- our names are our first line of connection and in a culture that's built around connecting and names can't even be remembered, is there really a connection?

  • What's in a name? A cuddler by any other name would be as squishy.

Forgetting a name doesn't necessarily mean you've forgotten the person. Remembering a name doesn't guarantee you've remembered the person, either! (How many Dans do we all know?) I didn't know my mom's name for years and it didn't make any difference.

I'm not bothered by people forgetting my name. Forgetting who I am would be far more bothersome—imagine trying to figure out what birthday party your conversational partner remembers you being at last week when in fact you weren't there.

Names are no big deal compared to the people who wear them.

  • @Saysoh my parents used to get my name wrong and call me by one of my older brothers names. I've done the same to my kids. I can assure you that it wasn't a sign of the absence of love, but more a case that each name was another word for "love", and people were getting them mixed up.

I won't say that your scenario never happens, just that sometimes there can be reasons that aren't as sad.

  • Only sometimes @Catloaf . Since our brains love pattern matching and looking for familiar things, it usually has the opposite of a helpful effect where I think I see someone I know because I remember features of them, but then it's not them. Hence where wrong name calling comes in for me in most cases.
I also think it could be a defense mechanism, since I've never known people long (I moved or they moved), can't miss what you don't remember?

I've always been back and forth right between @DaringSprinter and @Saysoh . I definitely understand we just love hearing our names and can be important in creating a connection. But I've grown up in age of IM and video games where I've only have handles and military where I've only used my last name (which if wasn't sewn on my uniform, I probably would have forgot it... Oh yeah, that did happen when my first name after getting out of active).
In the end though it's just a few letters to identify you in which that you didn't even get to pick yourself (unless you went to the courts as an adult and changed it). Of course you can love and respect your parents enough to own it and cherish it.
So yes, I can appreciate that just because I don't really care/have an attachment to my own name, doesn't mean others won't cherish their own. Which is why I have worked to be better at remembering. It just hasn't always worked. But I 100% believe you can make connections without knowing someone's name. Especially in this day and age when it's more handle based which can change with the mood.

  • @DaringSprinter first line. Hahaha
