Tingly sensations while cuddling

[Deleted User]Emerald20772 (deleted user)

I’m talking ASMR if you will. Like if someone touches you a certain way, you get the tingles in a relaxation kind of way. I get the sensation when my hair is played with or when my back is gently rubbed or scratched. Especially the back scratching. Does anyone else feel this sensation while cuddling? What about it gives you the tingles?

I've experienced ASMR my whole life! I love this feeling. Any gentle, light touch from another person sends a jolt of tingles radiating through my entire body starting from where I was touched, so I totally understand your post. It's cool that you feel this too!

  • If you want tingles...this thing is incredible.

  • @entwine ~ That thing gives me the shivers just looking at it!! It's one of those that's fine if I'm the one holding it, but if it's someone else...
    😬🥶🥴

  • I learned this touch technique during some hypnobirthing classes I took in San Diego. My birth doula taught me! Light touch massage is now my go-to for instant endorphins! So good!

  • @quixotic_life You're safe, unless it's stamped with "1.5V AAA". grin

  • I used to get it as a kid. But ever since its cultural emergence I have not even once been able to trigger it with videos. My cuddle buddy who's a therapist had not heard of it. I did on one occasion experience it through my feet while cuddling a younger woman in a park. I was so overtaken that I froze and faked my responses to her for a while until it subsided. I never said anything. With me, it seems to have a mind of its own and I can't reenact it. I wish I could because it's seriously amazing.

D'aw...no, well, yeah, it does gives shivers across entire body, but the good tingle shivers kind

Apparently they do have vibrating ones I think, soooo, those probably do have that, hah

Yes, light touch is a great go-to.
Even giving multiple sensations, such as light scratches then light touch across same areas, that mix makes for great feelz.

    Edited for privacy.

  • Yes yes and yes !!

  • My device also does a great job beating eggs for an omelette after cuddling. They are delicious and flavored with dead skin flakes sloughed off while creating tingles for my cuddle partner.

  • Mmm, yummy @FunCartel
Always brilliant when can get multiple uses for a single device. Winning.

    That's great @SnshineScarlett !
I still need my own. Or at least ensure my cuddle buddies have it available.

  • @entwine "If you want tingles...this thing is incredible." Is that so... I've been thinking about getting one someday. Though, hope I get a good quality one that my hair doesn't get caught in. 😅

I also experience ASMR. I even mention it in my profile. I have the same triggers as the OP, as well as watching someone do a task, like drawing or putting something together. Getting a haircut will trigger it sometimes. For me it has to be spontaneous and in-person, and something that just "happens" rather than putting a conscious effort into it.

And yeah, that scalp massager thing is incredible. I think I saw it in a Skymall magazine and didn't think anything about it, then a massage therapist used it on me during a scalp massage and it blew me away.

Yes. That is amazing. But! It’s awesome if someone takes over and does it for you. You letting go of the mind and body. Pure pleasure

  • What a trip!! I just went down a rabbit hole of visuals...

  • Anyone who has ever got goose pimples has ASMRed. What people are striving for is a continuous ongoing state that causes euphoria. Today, for me it was a Joni Mitchell song. When it came on I flashed back 25 years ago to when my daughter discovered her through a track that Tori Amos covered, "A Case of You." I goose-pimpled several times before it was over at every thought of those precious years.

But on Saturday evening, I transcended. It was totally unexpected and lasted about 24 hours. It involved the same tingling sensation from my shoulders, up my spine to the top of my head throughout the experience. I did two hours of yoga beforehand and when I started to meditate is when all the action began.

So while one was ASMR at the most basic level (Goose pimples), transcending send me into a higher state of consciousness for an extended period. When I have ASMRed through interaction with another, it stops when the person stops. I think they're all related.

  • What's fascinating is why there's so many cuddlers here, I thought only abused people like me need to cuddle 😆 unless of course there's a lot of abused people like me even though I think I'm unique and there's only very few of us, ever heard Jaycee Dugard? I'm a male version of her,
almost identical, I was reunited at 12yo instead of being kidnapped, but was never free until last year... this isn't a joke either. Even today I'm still watching over my abuser who isn't allowed to be within 300 feet near me. I barely escaped it last year and now I'm finally "normal". I wake up and go to sleep saying "thank you God" without putting thought into it, coming straight from my heart. Yup I'm bored. It's a secret of my life nobody knows(?). All my former friends I lost, got fired from all my jobs, can't hold a relationship, but none of them knows why... they don't know... and I have no plan telling anyone anymore especially now that it's officially over because I have strong love for my abuser... don't ask why.

  • I usually get pleasant ASMR tingles from music with key shifts (think Jekyll and Hyde Broadway musical).

For whatever reason, the head scratcher gives me nails-on-a-chalkboard type tingles! One of my siblings tried it on me at Christmas and I couldn't get away from it fast enough. It's strange, 'cause I love a good scalp scratching—with fingernails.

That doesn't give me tingles, though. No part of cuddling ever has. Hmm. I guess my ASMR is pretty solidly audio focused.

    @lonelybored:

As a person raised in an abusive cult from birth, I don't have to ask why. "They beat you, starved you, degraded you—how could you feel love for them?" Well, random questioner (I say to those who ask), because that's how you survive.

Platonic affection is a need every human has and many struggle to meet even when they haven't been blatantly abused. For those of us who have....

    Well, hopefully this site helps!

@DaringSprinter that's frisson. And you now have a new favorite word 😊

  • edited March 2022

@RaveHeart: And here was me thinking a frisson was a purely emotional thing! A sudden strong feeling of excitement or fear, I always thought it was. That's the evolution of language for you—always mixing things up.

I think I'll stick with "musical chills." Frisson is too associated with fear for me. But thanks for the language update!
