This is quite concerning regarding Airbnb

Trigger warning:

Talks about things like two men who have been arrested for sex trafficking and allegedly using Airbnb rentals in Toronto, Canada. Which it says makes it easier for them due to it being more anonymous.

"“We're seeing an emerging trend with human traffickers using more Airbnbs in the city of Toronto and the GTA,” Tramontozzi said at a press conference on Thursday. “It's more anonymous for them, so it's a lot easier not to be caught by the police when they're in these private type of residences rather than hotels and motels where we could get more information.”"

Be safe y'all, as some of you may be using or agree to use Airbnb rentals for your platonic cuddles.

    I was JUST looking at some AirBnB’s for cheaper cuddles. This is a good reminder that as sketchy as hotels may be for some, you’re at least paying for a bit more security. Stay safe y’all.

    I don’t see any safety concern with using AirBnB for a cuddling session (unless the parties are doing something illegal during the session or sharing the space with others that are doing illegal activities). Human traffickers use hotels, regular homes, long-term rentals and short-term rentals (like AirBnB) - that by itself doesn’t make those places unsafe for a legal activity.

    @uxecud the article says Airbnb rentals makes it more anonymous for them. The point I shared it for is for others, especially women to hopefully be safer. Many times we don't know the people we are meeting here for potential cuddles and need to take all kinds of safety measures. Being mindful of the issues mentioned in the article could help others be a bit safer and mindful of what the other may be concerned about.

    I don't know how it's anonymous though because don't you have to sign up with all your real world information to rent an airbnb?

    But in any case I think the safest way for a woman to meet a strange man (besides meeting in public) is to have the man rent the hotel room (hotel gets their license and credit card) or if you go to a home address, get their ID and make sure it's the address on the ID (alternatively with just the full name and address you should be able to Google them and see their name and address).

    Women are at a higher risk, period, when meeting men they don’t know well. I think we should be extra cautious when meeting in private settings AirBnB, hotel, or a home.

    I have never and will never meet a man in private without meeting him in public first...usually multiple times. I won't compromise my safety for a stranger. Some here have tried to convince me otherwise - and promptly found themselves blocked.

    I was actually on AirBnB earlier today. Not for cuddling, just to choose a random place to go on a weekend trip, but last one I stayed at was a shared spot where someone converted their garage into a little house. It didn't cross my mind at the time but it was just me a some random dude on some farm.

    I have no interest in Airbnb. Never used it and never will. I sure hope these two criminals get locked up for a long time.

    @Moxytocin Good point but there have been many instances in which I have had a hotel room but it was not actually in my name. While it seems more likely that someone securing a hotel room and hosting would for sure have their name and credentials on file that may not always be the case.
