Hi all

edited October 2017 in General

I am new here and wanted to know a bit more about the site from those of you who used it for longer, your experiences etc. Also how can I filter who sees my profile etc by where they live in as I am being seen by those who live in other countries? Also can the same be done with age?

  • If you notice on the home page there is a recently online section and people are probably seeing your profile there and are clicking on it out of curiosity. I haven't been on the site long, but have chatted with some really great people. People may contact you because they want to be pen pals or be friendly. I have chatted with several people I will probably never cuddle with due to distance, but for me that's alright. I love chatting with people that have similar interests no matter their age or where they are from. There are a few bad eggs, but they get weeded out pretty quickly. I dont know of any way to hide your profile other than blocking individual people that contact you. Hope this helps and welcome to the site!

Posting on this forum is a terrible way to reduce the number of people who look at your profile :P

Infact, I am going to click on yours after I post this because now you've made me curious.

    edit----

Also, hello :) To answer your question I am fairly new myself. I've no experience with meeting people yet. Not much help I know.

@Lovelight, you cannot generally filter who can see you by categories such as age, gender, or distance from you. And I can't think of a reason to, really. You don't have to interact with people just because they viewed your profile.

I view a lot of profiles, such as:

    1. When a new member pops up at the top of my home page. I click on almost all of them, out of simple curiosity, regardless of location. Most underage profiles or inappropriate profiles are discovered this way.

    2. When location isn't clear: Are they in Reading MA or Reading PA? One is near me, and one is not. No way for me to tell without clicking on their profile.

    3. When a member posts on the forum, and I want to see the person behind the post.

    4. When I'm traveling on business and looking for cuddle buddies in distant locations.

    5. If someone visits me, I usually visit them back.

Most members do some combination of those things. So you'll get lots of "looks" by all sorts of people. If your profile description of the people you want to interact with is clear and unambiguous, most visitors who don't fit the bill will not message you. But the looking itself --- no harm, no foul.

  • Thanks all, I understand. Not to do out of discrimination for any of the filter options I had said. It's not a big deal, though it would just be nice. We also get notifications so I wanted to just be notified with those who are better match to me, as opposed to someone far far away. There have been times I accepted that though now it's just the closer and similar time zone the better. And the latter is just a preference range.

I guess interacting in the forums is also another way to get even more diverse visitors lol. So I kinda asked the impossible. XD

Hahaha yes thanks for visiting my profile XD

  • Yup I've gotten two people looking at my profile today, neither are in our country.....however I don't get emails about people visiting my profile, just when people message me. Is this not how it works for you?

  • @quietman775 thanks for the in-dept explanation. Yes I understand now. There are contradictories that would prevent such filtering features I suppose and I can see some of the benefits of keeping it this way.

@waywardchild80 yes those are good ideas and I think this site is quite nice, I am also loving it's user friendly interface! That's reassuring by the way that the moderation is on the ball which helps to keep a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. :)

  • Yes it works the same, just thought there was a filter feature like so.

On the people search it actually shows the location below the person's name which is good. Though I guess the other part is people will just be curious or friendly and visit even if they're in another country/. They will visit for various reasons as you all listed above.

Though the location under the name doesn't follow us here on the forums I guess which would also be nice. Kinda what I mean is message or not they're all notifications and having such filters would help to have that bit of advantage. Though it's not a big deal anyways. :)
