MMJ/CBD while cuddling. Thoughts?

[Deleted User]rhunt1982 (deleted user)

I know personally, I use cuddling and touch as a therapeutic relief for my anxiety and depression. In addition to this, I’ve found great relief from Medical Marijuana and the use of CBD oils/tinctures. I am just curious what everyone’s thoughts are on this. Do you use anything like this in your cuddling sessions? If not, do you have anything else that helps you to relax and let go in your cuddling?

Also, I am new to this community, but I would love to be an active member and offer my cuddling to anyone in need. I am from Orange County, CA. Please feel free to reach out and get in touch if you would like to share a platonic healing experience together.

  • I would never use any mind altering substance while cuddling because (a) I don't need it and (b) there isn't a cuddler that I know well enough yet to trust enough to allow myself to become under the influence of any kind of substance if I were so inclined. For women, it's a safety and security issue.

@blueiris I can respect that, it can definitely put you in a precarious position if it’s with someone you are unfamiliar with. I would never offer it to anyone period, but for self use I am comfortable enough to use in just about any situation. Different preferences for everyone I suppose. For me it has replaced prescription medications, so I’m somewhat dependent on it. Just curious if there are others that use it, or anything else I suppose.

  • I cuddled with a new cuddle partner yesterrday that really opened my eyes to meditation. @fastpacer. After our cuddle, we talked about meditation. He meditates daily and shared with me his technique. I told him that my mind was too active to meditate. I also said that when I cuddle that I completely lose myself. My mind is clear and I have no concept of time. He said that I am in my own form of meditation. So, I guess for me, I have no need for any of that other stuff during a cuddle. Give me a warm bed, soft pillows and blankets and a good cuddle partner and I'm on a cuddle high! Nothing else needed.

  • One should feel blessed to have normal functioning body... the human body is most interesting mix of chemical cocktail.

I have know a few friends that needed Marijuana to focus and relax. And they function more normal when using it. Always friendly and best once of giving a hug and cuddle.

I think it gets its bad rap most of all from those that are chasing after the high... but the body builds a trance to that. People have to be careful on mixing Marijuana with other drugs and alcohol as well sense it can make there effects stronger. But this can mean person needing dangers amounts of pain medicine can take less.

If there any thing that helps me relax it maybe enjoying a nice meal together. And having drink that pars well with the meal. As we talk and move cuddling up close.

Honestly I do not think I could really bring my self to cuddle on a empty tummy.

  • Pain meds are pretty bad for you if you take them regularly and can even kill you. I don't know what effects CBD has on people long term(not sure anyone knows?) but I would rather people take something that might be safe rather than something we know isn't.

So yeah I don't have a problem with other people using it but I wouldn't personally because I have never had any. I've heard some people can react badly with it and I wouldn't want to risk having that when I am with someone else.

  • There are many ways to go off tangent with this topic, so I will try NOT to do so. If you read the following, please do so with the understanding that I am fully accepting of those who use medical marijuana (MMJ), even though I myself do not.

The nature of the clinic that I work in means that we have some patients who are prescribed MMJ - just not by our physicians. The issue here (in the U.S., as well as in Florida) is that there aren't any studies that are accepted widely in the Medical sense which clearly state and discuss how marijuana could potentially interact with other medications (and especially the narcotics/opioid classes or medications). The last time I looked, which was a few months ago, marijuana itself is not considered to be legal in FL, unless it is one of the actual prescription versions of MMJ, such as Marinol (or in some cases, dronabinol) but the reasons for being prescribed these forms of marijuana is rather select (as opposed to the myriad of reasons for which opioids might be prescribed). Being that I looked into this several months ago, things may have changed since then, but 99.9% sure this is still current.

@JasonCuddles is correct when saying that pain medications can kill you. A perfect example is the potentially deadly combination of Benzodiazepines (such as Xanax or Valium) and Narcotics/Opioids such as Norco or Fentanyl (please take note that there are MANY different types of benzos as well as different types of opioids!). The combination can result in what is referred to as a "sleep coma". An example of the warning that goes with Xanax (that we commonly print out for patients) can be found on this site here: https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a684001.html. It does well for detailing this severe risk.

The whole point of what I just wrote is that even if marijuana (medical grade or recreational) serves no other purpose other than to relax one's body, it is still a substance which can alter one's thoughts (as well as one's mind). Whereas it may have its place in therapy sessions such as what can be found on this site, I can't say that I can clearly identify how it might occur.

Again, as stated above: I don't use it personally, though I have no qualms about those who do. However, I do not feel comfortable with the idea of having it as part of a cuddle therapy because of my own personal belief that my feelings and emotions are best left out of the reach of anything that might change them outside of my control. If something is going to alter my thoughts, my feelings, my emotions... then I want that something to be me, as I grow through healing and finding my own path.

  • roles his eyes this is going off topic... easily.

If you do not know any thing about the substance you have never try... and because some propaganda made it negative and your never going to try it...
My own personal experense on pain med of alive after seeing the damage it did to my Mother. I choose to avoid it but having doctor get in your face as once passing kidney stones kind of change my mind. To take more when needed most of all.
Saying your never going to do some thing... That in past has been very useful remiddy and as it starts to be studied more in positive light . Seems rather foolish to me.

I like to hear from people that use mushrooms, smells, music, and lighting that effects the mind. Sense I do not know any thing much about these areas

    Other examples could be....
    People lite scented candles.
Enjoying watching the sun set... or even rise in the morning.
Cuddle by fire place in blanket.
Lay back in the grass and cuddle as you watch the clouds float by.
Or cuddle up in sleeping bag outside looking up at the stars.

These things do have a effect on the mind and mood.

Maybe I am reading to much between the line but I think the person asking what sets the mood best for others.
And rather rude and off putting to say you would not do any thing that will effect your mind... when even talking to some one will effect your mind.

Will give good credit to @Scarlette for keeping on topic and adding positive topic of meditation to set the mood... this can easily be expand on by some one that knows good breathing techniques to help some one relax and sit the mood better.

Granted I will say that the title of this topic "MMJ/CBD while cuddling. Thoughts?" I guest gives right to people triggered feelings of I will not do this.
But let keep on the positive side and focus on questions of "Do you use anything like this in your cuddling sessions? If not, do you have anything else that helps you to relax and let go in your cuddling?"

I appreciate the medical perspective, Medic. A comprehensive explanation with the clear expression that you are not posting as a matter of judgment of character.

For OP, I second @BlueIris. No for me simply because of safety. You may trust yourself on substances, but I am less likely to. I also am not judging here at all, but I believe your original question is if I would be comfortable. I would not. Not judging, just my honest answer.

On the more positive side, as to relaxing things I would be comfortable with, I like the ideas of scented candles and soothing music. If someone really wanted to go all out, maybe a therapeutic water colour painting sesh together before the cuddle? Lol. I've never tried it, but at least in theory, I do like the idea of doing something to relax together to build the connection and hopefully calm nerves. There are probably lots of simpler and more practical options that would fall into that category. I think @Scarlette's story of meditating together seems really cool. And If you find someone comfortable with participating in MMJ with you, go for it!

Just for me, I would appreciate the consideration of a potential cuddler letting me know they would be participating in substances so I could join you in the experience (I personally wouldn't, but others surely might!) or have the opportunity to politely pass if it's not something I'd be comfortable with. Less awkward and more time-saving if that is communicated via messaging before IRL interactions. I would petition for the same consideration for someone who, for instance was viewing pornography to relax before a session. I would not be comfortable going there, as I feel it has a higher risk of becoming nonplatonic, and that's something I'd want to know about and be given the option to pass on, or join in on if I was someone who could do that to just relax without it affecting how l would experience my cuddle session (whether or not you believe that's physically possible, but going theoretically here).

I hope you don't take offense to including pornography in the discussion. As we're talking about potentially taboo things, particularly those that are commonly used as relaxation tools (and again, not passing judgment or arguing its morality, just imagining different situations cuddlers might find themselves in) that's something that comes to mind. Just thoughts :)

  • I agree with William D, - The cultural use of the word "drug" is quite bizarre in my opinion, as so many things alter our consciousness/perception/brain chemistry, yet we put some things in the "drug" category, whereas others we wouldn't even think of.
We have this society that has drilled us with indoctrination to have certain beliefs about cannabis. I challenge everyone to research for themselves and see what they find.
I for one, am a HUGE cannabis advocate, due simply to the amount of peer reviewed medical studies on the endocannabinoid system and the TREMENDOUS healing benefits of cannabis.
It is anti-inflammatory, neuro-protective, and neuroregenerative.
Yes, contrary to popular belief, it doesn't make you stupid, it actually helps your brain regenerate, grow new neuronal connections, and prevent death of neurons.
If you use it with alcohol, it prevents some of the neurotoxicity as well.
That being said, I myself use cannabis medically but dont really enjoy being "high"often, especially with new people...but for the people that do-power to them!
Why not use a medicine that is actually treating the ROOT cause of all disease, rather than just the symptoms, and why not be on that medicine while cuddling? Double therapy!
I would prefer to be using something non-psychoactive in most social situations, as what BlueIris is saying, because it can alter your perception, and for safety reasons you may want to be in your "normal state" until someone is known better and more trusted.
But this is so personal and up to each individual, and I don't see why there should be any stigma against it.
And to me, to ask about cuddling while taking cbd would be like saying, is it okay to cuddle after having taken a multi-vitamin? lol
If you guys want something to watch on this check this out:

  • I use MMJ edibles on occasion (I won't smoke it, because I don't want any foreign substance in my lungs). Even though I haven't used it while cuddling, I very much look forward to doing so, if I find a partner ok with me doing it. When on MMJ, my senses get expanded, especially my sense of touch. I can just imagine what cuddling would be like with my expanded touch sense.
    <3 Jim

  • Depending on if I have a good vibe about the person, im up.for it. I keep control ovet how much I have though so that I dont pass out or get to the point of bei g a blob lol. :p

I'm not interested in smoking marijuana, but I'd be open to meditating with someone if they were into that. Perhaps incorporating cuddling into a session with some yoga, massage and meditation would be a great way to relax, and very therapeutic.

  • Never done marijuana but I don't think that you could be more relaxed than what the cuddling in itself can make you. I think the risk is like it was mentioned above where you just become a blob and at that point MJ or anything else is taking away from the experience. I don't want to cuddle a blob, lol.

  • If I trust someone well and I’m not driving anywhere yes ! I enjoy edibles for both pain management as well as relaxation . I could only do it if I was doing an overnight session so I don’t have to drive home . I don’t host because I don’t bring men who are strangers in my home with my teen daughter . I don’t see it any different then having a few drinks
