I’ve occasionally thought it would be fun to play some (board) games on longer sessions. I’m curious- for those of you who have, what are some fun games you’ve enjoyed during a session?
@FunCartel We have a group, including a few cuddlers and CAH is the staple game we play. We try others but always CAH. It's fun to exercise the dark side and I always hurt afterwards from laughing too hard. We get together a few times a year. (covid years, being the exception). We were going to meet in March, but looks like June now. I'm bumbed-out about that.
@FunCartel I haven’t heard of CAH (Cards against humanity) until you posted this. What’s it about and why do you like the game for cuddles?
@FunCartel I just looked for CAH on Amazon. There are a huge number of expansion sets. I might have to start building my own deck.
@nature700 ~ CAH is a game that plays a lot like Apples to Apples... but is largely far more inappropriate.
One person plays a black card with some words... then everyone else looks through theirs to find one they think fits best (all pass to the black card player face down)... then the black card player chooses one white card from those passed, and whoever played it wins the point. Then it's the next person's turn.
It's most fun to read all the choises in order of preference, saving the best (the point card), for last.
CAH wouldn't work with just two players, it's a party game. But it's really good with groups of people just meet and you know really well. As you can learn a lot about someone (mostly their type of humor). Which why it can be fun with people you know, because you can play towards that. So could be interesting to bring to cuddle party, but it's a bit of a crudeish game... though I was pleasantly surprised at those that were able to take it for what it is... But some may find it not to their liking
My family is big into board games, but I've never really tried cuddling during one. Not a bad idea. Though the types of games we usually play it would be an expensive 4-6 hour session, heh.
I'd say some type of co-op puzzle like board game would be good, that can get entwined and discuss the next move. I'll have to look through collection and get back to you.

I do really enjoying getting together with people to cuddle, and there have been plenty of times where we have decided to add an extra element to the meeting instead of "just cuddling." I have found this to be especially true with people who are somewhat new to each other, or in the middle of a long connection like you've mentioned here.
Now that I am thinking about it.... I might have to add the pair of dice idea to "Cuddle Shenanigans" and add that to my list of possible options with my next connection.
Maybe we could bring something to St. Louis!!!!

I was more curious of fun games to mix into cuddles — just to get some fun ideas. @quixotic_life - thanks for the info!
@nature700 Have you ever heard of a card game called we're not really strangers? I use the base game for public meets and some sessions, they have alot of expansions for it but the base game is a surprisingly fun tool to make and develop friendships quickly
This game by Esther Perel is a really good one, and one of my favorites. I do remove all the cards marked as NSFW before putting it out for a cuddle party.

@CuddlesByDeep ~ I love Story Cubes!! I have the orange set (and a set that came from [I think] a kids charades game), but I didn't know about the 'actions' set. Also, how fun for a cuddle fest (I've only really used them as writing prompts with the kids I work with).

I don't remember how these came into my possession, but just recently they've each resurfaced (a perk to packing and purging my life I suppose), and now they're finally together in a bag along with my travel cuddle clothes!!
As far as the name of the game, I'm not sure if I should call it, "Cuddle Happenings", "Agree? Or Disagee?" or just refer to it as, "The live action version of Cuddle Shenanigans"
Either which way, it's a pretty basic game...
Rules: ° First, the player with either the silliest or sassiest of user names rolls and reads the dice to themselves. ° Next, if they 'agree' to the rolled happening, they read the dice aloud/present the 'happening'. If they happen to 'disagree' they simply roll again. ~ note: there are times the dice themselves will 'disagree' which forces a re-roll. ° Then, if after hearing the 'happening' presented, anyone present 'disagrees' the dice are rolled again. ~ note: If/when there are three roll 'disagrees' (of any kind) in a row, the dice are passed. ° Once a 'happening' has been 'agreed' to by all, the 'happening' happens!! ~ note: all present must 'agree' to the 'happening' happening ~ however, not all present need to participate in the 'happening' happening. ° Finally, after an 'agreed' to 'happening' has happened the next player rolls... and so on.
~ note: not pictured are the dice for determing duration...) 😉
Anyway, now if I ever happen to be at a cuddle-playdate, and things get awkward, I can bust them out and [temporarily] make it even worse!! Then [hopefully] we'll all have a laugh, then get back to the cuddling!! 🤗

A recent favorite game of mine is Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, it is silly and physical, while engaging everyone in every hand.. OOH, i LOVE games!!! ❤️ This one does require 3 or more people...

One of my former stage managers had introduced me to this game. We had 2 shows every Saturday with a lot of down time between shows so every Saturday we'd play this.
I tried to look for my own copy and found this version of the same game but with Transformers characters. They both play by the same rules except for one difference.
Star Wars characters have Major and Minor characters as game pieces you can also move around the board. There are certain cards that are specific to what character you're attacking with within the same deck and cards that have different effects depending on who you're using them on. In the context of the game minor characters range from generic army builders like storm troopers and battle droids to what most people would consider actual main characters like Leia and Chewbacca. Chewy is usually paired with Han Solo, they're part of the same set which is why Chewy is considered minor in the game.
Anyway... the Transformers TECHNICALLY have minor characters as well in that there are cards representing their Mini-con partners but the Mini-cons don't actually have their own figures like the Star Wars game.
I actually like to mix the two games... each game has four different optional boards you can play on and both have a desert themed board which actually fit perfectly next to each other with a little area where the characters can move between the two fields. So I kind of made up my own rule to compensate for the lack of minor characters on the Transformers side that if a card says minor characters only Transformers would take half the damage they're suppose to so you still get a sense of being able to attack their Mini-Con even though they technically aren't actual characters on the board.
BTW the first time I ever played that game my Stage Manger was Yoda, used force lift which makes it so I can't defend and force push which allows him to move me anywhere on board and he stuck me directly in the middle of the battle field... I was out of the game in 2 moves and still had a lot of fun playing.
We also would play "Bull Shit" a lot which if you don't know what that is... it's played with a regular deck of playing cards. Pass out cards to each player till you run out of cards in the deck. Whoever ends up with the ace of spades always goes first. The next player is suppose to place down 2(s), then 3(s), and so on. So the reason the game is called "Bull Shit" is because you're trying to get rid of all your cards as fast as possible before anyone else does by lying about what you're actually doing. Of course the first player is going to have at least 1 Ace in their hand and it'd be impossible to lie about having the ace of spades... or either lying about having more aces than you actually do cause if you try to put down 4 aces on your first move anyone who has the other aces is going to call bull shit on you immediately. Of course you could say you have 2 and probably be safe even if you only have one cause the chances are pretty low that one player has all 3 of the other aces. If you're really sneaky you can say you're only putting down one car and actually put down two but if they're not aligned properly so people can't see the edges of the bottom card they're going to notice. Anyway it gets easier to lie further into the game when people are more likely to lose track of what cards are where. You really need 3 or more players though. Anyway... if you are caught lying you have to pick up the entire pile of cards. If someone calls bull shit and check the cards proving you weren't lying they have to pick up the cards instead so another strategy you could use is don't lie but make them think you might be.

Yup, I have the actual Jumanji board game. I had a different version as a kid but was very disappointed in how inaccurate it was to the movie Flat board rather than a box that opened up, sorry game pieces rather than the animal shapes, cards which you stuck under a decoder to read rather than the center piece of the board game in the movie. This one is also inaccurate since all the game pieces are different colored rhinos rather than different animals, the compartments to store the game pieces and the dice are missing from the inside flaps, but but it does have those opening flaps and an LED screen in the center of the board so it feels a lot closer to the one in the movie. Haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'm not even sure how the LED screen works to reveal the riddles yet.

When I was in High School I was a HUGE gamer…not only D&D but also the classic Avalon Hill games and war/strategy games. Unfortunately that fell by the wayside in college and beyond but I would love to spend time with likeminded folks playing games…especially abstract strategy games. But I still like the classic and can kick anybody’s butt in Monopoly🙂
